Point out how Midori is being manipulative in any manner and you might have a point.

She's a sad depressed woman reaching out to the woman she used to love, initially acting on old memories because she didn't put any weight into them because of comphet while also seeking out the last time she felt like she belonged. Hell, Midori even seems to acknowledge what she did hurt Maki considering how she's now consistently keeping in contact with her.

I think the problem is that we’re mixing two issues here: Midori looking for support and how she’s getting it.

Midori reaching out to Maki for support should obviously be the Right Thing to do, but the Right Way would also be something like asking Maki “I have problem X, can you help me?” to which Maki could agree and voluntarily provide support in a completely platonic way. (Maki could also refuse, but she’s not that heartless.) Unfortunately, Midori is not yet at a stage where she’s ready to admit that, so instead she tries to get Maki to be nice to her by relying on their previous relationship. She’s giving Maki little bits of affection but always refuses to give her the romantic relationship Maki obviously wants to have, which is hurting Maki a lot, as the most recent chapter showed.

Since Midori’s not playing with open cards here, I can see how her behavior can be described as “manipulative”, but I think the real question here is, is it okay to save yourself at the expense of another? Midori saving herself at the expense of Tazune would get all of my thumbs-up, but Midori saving herself at the expense of Maki, who did her no wrong? Is it okay because Madori is saved more than Maki is hurt? +10 points for Midori and only -5 points for Maki? Is the ratio relevant? -1 point for Maki would be okay but -9 points would not be? Who gets to decide those numbers?

“Saving one person at the expense of another” is a moral dilemma that I find both fascinating and frightening at the same time because while I like to read it, this series made me realize that a couple in my extended family is almost certainly in the early stages of an abusive relationship. orz

i don't get how tagging works here either, so. @anyone what exactly did midori do wrong? i keep seeing people say she's just as bad as tazune but that's like saying...anthy's just as bad as akio

I believe there’s no site-supported tagging here. Just write whatever and hope the user notices.

When Midori and Maki were going out in high school, Maki was obviously in it for the long term but Midori dropped her like a hot potato after graduation to pursue the society-demanded happiness of marrying a man and having children. Now that they met again, Midori seems to only use Maki for some emotional comfort and leaves her hanging otherwise.

Both things are pretty shitty, obviously. From what I see, commenters disagree about whether to put the blame on society or on Midori. The ones blaming her seem to be holding her personally responsible for being a shitty person, even though from a different perspective her only fault would be not being strong enough to reject the societal pressure.

Since Nonono is taller, it probably would’ve been easier for Yumimi to sit on her lap, but since Yumimi insisted that Nonono should sit on her lap, I guess she fully intended to end up with some boob in her eye?

Elisha and Honoka aren’t my favorite couple, but I just can’t say no to Lots of hugging. Also gotta love the Law of Conservation of Detail. When Honoka moved her arm aside, I immediately expected Elisha to move it back, which she did right on the next page.

I expected that rather than being the famous yuri couple, they’d be the infamous stop fuckingflirting in the classroom and get a room couple. Bless their tolerant schoolmates.

to avoid posting twice: any yuri where one or both girls are fujoshi?

Yay for serialization, I guess, but why a weekly shounen magazine? Does that mean that there will be ecchi fanservice and no yuri besides some subtext that never leads anywhere? :< Time to cross fingers and hope that that won’t happen.

anyone know of yuri that reads like BL?
something like this: https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/cat_piercing. a yuri that's similar to a harada work, if that helps.

Obviously this (read the first comment).

Jokes aside, I’m not well versed in BL and I don’t know if this is what you’re looking for, but the one that gave me a BL impression while I was reading it is the one-shot Top? Bottom? A Three-Round Bout!. The helpful Not yaoi tag also has the series Love DNA XX and the one-shots Butch x Butch (It’s Yuri) and this (from page 19 on).

I don’t get it. :<
Can someone explain/theorize why she thought she had to keep her love hidden that much?

But the tailbone is further down, so the tail should be starting roughly at the top of the butt crack. It must be below the sacrum, so it can’t be coming out in the middle of the lower back… orz

And also was explicitly told. That helps too.

“Explicitly told” would be something like “It’s a girl. I’m going out with her.” or “I want you to meet my girlfriend.” But what Akari said was “It’s a girl. She’s really precious to me. I want you to meet her, Mom…” That still leaves a little room for interpretation and might totally fly past someone with gay blindness. But mom interpreted it correctly, so it’s fine.

Come on, cut dad some slack. He saw her standing in the entranceway for a few minutes and probably all she said in his presence was “… Okay.” Unless he has a gaydar with the sensitivity set to 11 or his glasses are actually shipping goggles, he’s not gonna figure it out from just that. On the other hand, mom had a lot more info available and noticed all the hints. I’d like to see the parents show up again in a future chapter.

I feel like next chapter is going to tell us if this is a slow-burn or not. With this much momentum already, I hope not.

The author has answered that with a clear no by immediately setting the whole house on fire.

Could you kind people recommend me your favorite yuri authors? (non-nsfw, please)

Dat double negative…

I can’t decide on a single favorite, so I’ll go with Kazuma Kowo for favorite published artist and Mezashi for favorite doujin artist.

I just get a little annoyed by basically all the characters being under 18 sometimes.

It’s the shackles of the Class S heritage. Make-believe relationships between girls are only allowed until graduation. After graduation/age 18, being interested in other girls is verboten. Class S is also to blame why subtext almost never turns into text because things actually happening is also verboten in Class S. If you dare to draw/write women over 18 interested in other women, then you’re not drawing Class S, you’re drawing LESBIANS! gasp Since anything related to actual homosexuality must be avoided, we can’t have that, so all girls must be under 18.

Class S stories paved the way for the yuri genre, but now it’s really hard to get rid of. Fortunately, more and more artists and publishers are jumping on the fuck Class S train, but many others still stick to Class S stuff. sigh

More on-topic: Adult life is great because it’s not Class S and we know from the get-go that things are allowed to happen, so I’m gonna enjoy Kanda and Ookuma’s shenanigans while waiting for the inevitable eventual reveal.

I was gonna let it slide since Newton was benched for this doujin, but…

Even if there’s a landing mat, you can still hurt yourself jumping down from a high place. Please don’t ever imitate this comic.

That’s what the author objects to? What happened to don’t attempt to bungee-jump with a rigid rope unless you want to tear limbs from your body or snap your spine? :<

What about anything with bullying where it's 1) lighthearted and not depressing & 2) about the bully x the victim. Graphite, for example, is pretty great. Reversal of their roles or not is fine.

Bully & Bullied + Sequel
Itazura Privacy

Maybe also Bully and Pranking the Pranker.

Please recommend a series with adults. I prefer lighthearted stories, if not slice of life.

Any suggestions for yuri stories/one-shots with good in-universe shipping? I don’t mean a character having delusions about other characters but rather a character helping the main couple with their slow/non-existent relationship progress without being involved in a love triangle.
Examples: Crescent Moon and Doughnuts, I'll Cheer On My Yuri Onee-chan

joined Sep 5, 2018

The MCs of your romance story are too passive/shy/closeted/whatever so that there’s no progress. Solution: introduce another character.
The bad way: introduce a nuisance rival to create a love triangle.
The good way: introduce a relative/friend that ships them.

Alright everyone hit me with your favorite
1) lighthearted
2) finished
3) happy ending
yuri manga, I wanna reread some fluffy fun stuff.

Cirque Arachne
Unchanging Days
Yurikon (less “finished” and more a series of interconnected one-shots)

One-shots:
A Day To Become Beautiful
Abracadabra
Commearication
Heart Panic Kotori-chan
Instant Anzu x Kirarin, Just Add Water
My Wife is Too Precious
Unknown Face, Unshown Face + The Face I Want to Show, The Face I Want to Know
When Your Night Ends

You could also check flips’s appropriately named lists, though that might be a bit too much.

^ Well, I guess that’s Mismatch Girls, except for the teenage part.

Not exactly what you’re looking for, but maybe also try The Structural Formula of First Love and Hoshikawa Ginza District 4.

I feel like pronouns are getting fucked up all over the place though.

Japanese rarely uses any pronouns so the scanlators have to make most of them up and no matter what they pick, someone will probably complain about getting them wrong.

Can we talk about Mogu-chan's ultra sadistic smile?

What an ass. I loved it. I was worried about Kotone’s reaction at first but it seems like she was fine, so it’s all good.

While Ema and Minami are a great boke/tsukkomi pair (nice inconsistent rings, btw), I think neither of them would’ve been a good choice for Kotone because both of them are way too extroverted for her. Mei on the other hand… ohoho. It was nice to see Mei’s determined side in this chapter too.

I'm looking for some one-shots or doujins about two friends/childhood friends becoming lovers.

Unchanging Days, one of my favorites.
The Two of Us and Apples
Rainbow, short and sweet.
You Were A Girl?! (Sequel)
Nana Yuri. Warning: cute and weird.
Catch! (NSFW)

pg 8, "we can go sans disguise for today", this sentence confusses me, "sans"?

“sans” means “without”. That’s perfectly fine.

Missing chapter 11 credits:
Translation by AnimeKid121212 on Danbooru (some fixes by Stan Miller)
Proofreading by me (just like all the previous chapters that aren’t full of weird sentences)

Yeah, the sweet smell thing tripped me up too, but as runrin said, that’s what it says in the raw. The smell kanji even comes with a furigana reading aid.
