So what series do you folks read that are as good as Bloom Into You? With the decay of some other few series that shall not be named, I am kinda at a loss on what to read once this one is over :-/

I thought her remembering Sumin right during sex was the only more relatable, realistic part of the quasi-comedy plot we have now lol
You are right that if the authors make this connection between siblings being nuts and the parents dying it would add complications, plus the story is likely to end soon (hopefully). But I suppose it’s implied. I had thought about this from the moment they showed this fact in the main story, though at the time I even sensed Seju might have ordered it to get Sumin all for herself.

Was it really a surprise someone from Seju's brothers killed her mom? It was pretty obvious, since they hated Seju and her mom so much. Also being greedy af and not wanting to share their fortune. It couldn't have been Seju's dad or her brother.
The only mystery is still whether that particular brother had an affair with Seju's mom, since there was a scene of him remembering her in season 1. Some people would also theorize that he is actually her dad, but I think that's less possible.I don't think Dowon will die either.
Season 3 with Dowon's past and her evil ex, while Dowon gets healed by dating Seju. Season 4 that ex moving on with someone new
I wasn’t surprised by the revelation. But I was surprised by how they didn’t deviate from the obvious and the dude is painted as merely dumb psycho rather than using more white collar methods lol

One point is of course that Seju letting go of her first love because she now found out her mother was murdered and her siblings are literally insane, makes no sense. She could just as equally get super upset because everything she went through was basically due to her siblings scheming against her, including very likely the “accident” of Sumin’s parents dying, Sumin being tortured etc. They were probably trying to induce her to commit suicide by destroying her relationship with Sumin.
Maybe because she thinks Won really loves her and defended her so now she jumps to emotionally connecting with Won? I suppose a traumatic reaction can do that, and create automatic trust. So I guess it’s a slightly better reason than “the author said so”. As eee above mentioned it would have been better if this situation had happened in the beginning then.
I'm wondering why the author didn't develop Seju x Dowon relationship from here first rather than going straight to Seju trusting / opening up to Dowon. Is it because the author had to give fans fan services asap.
I think it’s because the series is actually gonna be short, and they didn’t want to make the revelation that the mom murdered right in the beginning. So they had to hold people’s attention with some action.
I predict it’s not gonna be more than 20 chapters, maybe not even 15. There isn’t much that can happen from now on: she will help Dowon recover, she has already called her “Dowon-ah” to indicate they are emotionally connected now etc lol maybe the bro will die, because he is now the villain. But not by Dowon’s hands, because that would make her bad.
The real reason of why the storytelling style has changed so much, I think, is that they have to write for the target audience of Kakao.
Storytelling downhill from here. So Seju's siblings, who are all filthy rich, bother themselves with committing crimes by their own hand rather than hiring people to do it? Because I actually thought Saehyun had hired people to beat up/scar Sumin and showed up only at the end to deliver the message...but clearly no one cares about being arrested or any type of scandal here lol. The dude literally was holding the rope with his own bare hands rather than at least using gloves (!). Then walks off as if nothing happened lmao
Also, what did he mean by "It's been 4 years"? At least we know who killed her mom I guess...
RIP WDTFS, good while it lasted.

Wow, a thread worse than WDTFS. Didn’t think it was possible.
Mei and Harumin? That's...
I support the implied 3P.
What 3P? They will literally make her do the paper work while they continue on the table.
You break my heart. Every time. :-(
I support the implied 3P.
^ What Macy-san said. The writing in One is poorer than the rest of the story, feels lazy and unrealistic because it's like forcing a situation just to say it happened and get it over with. Seju "needs" a partner, so let's force an entire improbable situation to make it happen.
Still I also like the SejuxDowon development (the interpersonal interactions, not the story context) better than SungjixSumin. Because although SungjixSumin was much more realistic context-wise, their interpersonal interactions feel like a toxic relationship where one person is overly kind and giving while the other is selfish and in the end doing whatever they want. Which to my mind is worse than a relationship where both people are just your average assholes.
To the poster who commented about the polls: I am talking about the poll taken this week. Obviously, polls before don't matter since sentiments change. When I wrote here, the number of answers was 83 and yes it was 20% not counting the 50/50. Your willingness to think I am simply twisting facts in bad faith rather than giving the numbers of the poll as I saw them at the moment I wrote the post, betrays your intention: you want to have the feeling of "I am right" and that's it. Well, good for you I guess.
Considering the vitriol against anyone who dares to think Seju and Sumin would be a good ending, or even that Seju should end up on her own but healed rather than "omg Seju happy with another lover at all costs!!!111!!", right now it's 10% or 15% of readers that are insisting on giving their votes in favour. But it's not unlikely that most people that hold this opinion don't even vote, because they are immediately criticized and shut down for it. Pretty much as in the US elections tbh lol
In any case, just like most people who think similarly to me (see how that happens?)...I am gonna stop posting here because people go personal, they think if you believe something would be better for the story, it's because you are some irrational shipper or "arrogant" person and start throwing personal attacks. Because they can't: (1) agree to disagree and talk about the elements we do agree on; or (2) find counter-arguments that don't involve
-- attacking other people's character
-- doubting their rationality
-- pointing to vague comments given by the authors 2+ years ago as though Team GJ has no right to change story direction, insert plot twists or anything. These being the same authors that meant to write a story with Sungji as main character and ended up focusing mostly on Seju instead, simply because they liked her more, which they admitted themselves. Okay.....I don't say it's super likely they would change the supposed "already decided" ending, but to discard plot twists completely as "impossible" makes even less sense.
Regardless now you will have your fake 100% agreement on SungjixSumin, SejuxDowon. Congrats.

Well if we only either have sexual assault or monastic chastity as options in this series moving forward, they better return to the first one ASAP because the lack of interesting plot makes the monastic option very unappealing.
I mean, the last vaguely sexual thing that happened in the series was Matsuri's boob grab.

Yeah I find it hilarious how people are so defensive, I think it's some fear that there will be a plot twist even though it's unlikely. The story has already gone downhill in One, you can feel the writing laziness on the setting and lack of character development so nobody needs to worry. It ain't getting better from here lmao
BTW if SejuxSumin is an insult, then the YO poster above is probably "insulting" at least 20% of the readers because the FB group took a poll asking the question "Do you support Seju and Sumin getting back together for life" and 20% of people said yes, plus a few more were on 50/50.
So 20%. Don't you think that's a little high for such an "impossible ending"? lol A lot of folks wrote before in this forum that only "crazy shippers" would want such an ending because they think it makes the story better (as is my case and Macy-san's too I guess). Well, still 20% of people apparently want that, so I guess all of them are crazy shippers then?
And it's 20%, despite the fact that One has shown Sumin as a total jerk so far, she has been shown in "happy ending" (maybe) with Sungji and last chapter Dowon and Seju finally hooked up. It's not easy to imagine if Team GJ wrote the story a bit differently, support would increase.
Just like Macy-san, although I hope it happens, I don't think it will happen. But to say it makes no sense, and throw "SejuxSumin shipper" as insult is ridiculous. It would definitely make the story tie up better, justify the writing decisions (like the fact they made Sungji and Dowon into characters who are much less developed) and give a different spin to the concept of healing.

Bloom Into You is actually gonna show sexy scenes before that other series, and I gotta say, I never expected that to happen. Interesting times.
last edited at Jul 13, 2019 7:29PM
Umm I never said they are related? I just used the "wife material" as a phrase/metaphor.
Fair enough I guess, I find it an odd word choice though, given that they do marry and "wife material" doesn't really mean anything.
Your other paragraph only seems tangentially related to anything I said, if you think the story is missing out from a lack of nsfw and kissing scenes I'll agree to disagree lol.
Hey we got ourselves a nun here lmao What's the point of a story that started out with a lot of kissing and sexual tension, now being completely devoid of it even though all the obstacles that prevented the characters from fully loving each other have been gone for literally a year?

The irony is that Mei and Matsuri would have more chances of working out than with Yuzu.
We are going to discuss about this forever until this series ends. But looks like we actually all agree on 2 things :p
The message of the series apparently is kinda depressing. Since they just went to partners who enable their problems due to being doormats. And they are changing yes, but ironically out of reflecting about each other still. Because Sumin changed not out of concern for Sungji's well being, but because of her mistakes with Seju, and now Seju if she changes it's because of her mistakes with Sumin and not because Dowon is helping her or because she cares about Dowon's well being I guess.
Sungji deserves better!
I still prefer an ending in which characters truly change though. In my opinion real love is the one that can provide you with the type of conflict that guides you to become a better person, doormats are bad...so I do not approve of Sungji or Dowon. For the YO person above, I cannot be a SejuxSumin shipper when in reality I wanted for the series to end in Paradise. I just don't see better alternatives, since I guess in this story they can't end up simply single lol
I wanted Seju to just let go and not be shown with anyone, just free with her self-respect recovered and all the possibilities of life in front of her. Rather than immediately hooking up with someone else etc which makes the whole concept of healing so weak. Again...in my opinion.

Thank god, no Mei
So you admit Sungji got the short end of the stick, and you still want SungjixSumin? Jeezus. Sungji deserves better than Sumin, she is literally too good to be in this story surrounded by these asshole people lol I wish she just ends up with her best friend, that girl actually loved her. Can't you tell the difference? -_-
Basically, I don't like SungjixSumin because I feel Sungji got massively short-changed, she is in a toxic relationship with Sumin (the irony) and I don't like SejuxDowon because I feel if Dowon is this passive character then Seju will just be narcissistic, jealous and bitchy forever. The message seems to be that ideal partners are those that enable you to be an asshole rather than challenging you to change for the better, which sucks.
BTW you are right, I actually do know a couple people who would be similar to Sungji. All of them are kinda treated like crap by their partners though... I used to try to help, but nowadays I don't empathize with them, because at the end of the day it's their responsibility to have some self-respect.

We do know, unless she has simply been acting doormat so far in order to hide her true identity, and literally nothing about her is real. Other readers have even commented she reminds them of Sungji, which is true. The same kind of overly accepting thing going on.
It's possible Team GJ could pull off a personality switch after revealing she is like a pro body guard or assassin. That's like my last hope for the story.
BTW I am not acting certain, it's my impressions so far. AFAIK folks here are the ones acting super certain the story will end up with a happy ending of romance between Seju and Dowon, and having convulsions whenever someone dares to point out maybe not.
There is a difference between what we wish to happen and what will actually happen.

Why are you bothered by my opinion? I don't have to like every aspect of the series lol and yes for me the message so far is depressing. I was actually starting to like Dowon, thinking she is quiet but has a solid personality, like she wouldn't allow Seju to bully or pressure her. And due to being strong like that, yes she would be a much better partner than Sumin. But I was disappointed, she is not a "quiet but strong personality" at all. She is just passive and Seju will do whatever with her...tell her she is just employee, try to have sex with her, say she is not employee anymore just to get the sex, then probably fire her now lol
Basically, I would be 100% onboard with Seju dating a character that is shown to do more than say "amen" to her every whim. Wasn't that the initial problem between Sumin and Seju in the first place? So nothing has changed lol

Regardless of how we interpret the mixed signals sent by the story, I feel there is a reverse psychology going on among readers of WDTFS: I can bet whatever you want that people who insist too much that Seju should let go of Sumin, as opposed to healing and giving it one more shot, are the type of people who can't let go of their exes and projecting hard on the ideal scenario of "2 lesbians stuck in an island to forget about the past".
I continue to find the message of this series to be depressing: they are saying you can only let go of the past by attaching to an avatar type of person who "fits you perfectly", where "fit you perfectly" means being a total doormat that you never clash with because they do and accept whatever you say. They should at least make Sungji and Dowon have non-subservient personalities and call out Sumin/Seju on their extreme bullshit sometimes, just like it would happen in any romantic story.
I was hoping that Dowon was going to react negatively to Seju very obviously wanting to use her as sexual frustration outlet, to say something, anything, other than acquiesce. Nope. I guess she got fired and didn't complain either. How am I supposed to NOT want Seju and Sumin back together, when the other 2 girls are 2D af?
I could have sworn Sumin had forgiven her already. Wasn't she the one who wrote the message: "I don't regret meeting you. Have a safe journey." on the back of their selfie photo in Ch107?
Lol why do people find it so difficult to “talk”? A note when the person is leaving is not talking, and definitely cannot be understood as forgiveness. Cryptic messages about not waiting on the snow, I love you but I gotta go or whatever is not talking. They just need to talk like 2 adults rather than going around in circles around each other.
As a comparison: Dowon and Seju’s conversation in ch 116 was the first honest adult talk in the whole damn series lol You know, just 2 human beings opening up about their feelings over beer and saying what they actually mean. It's not that hard.
This story has literally been 117+ chapters of Seju, Sumin, poor Sungji and now even stupid Dowon trying to f*ck their problems away and being very unsuccessful at it. STAHP.
Anyways, I'm still not particularly happy with the flashback of Sumin appearing but I suppose its necessary for Seju to have this mental block. So long as she has this low self esteem that she thinks shes some kind of terrible, inferior human being who deserves to be punished or whatever she think about herself, she wont be capable of loving Wonnie or anyone else for that matter. She needs to learn how to love herself first, stop this negative thought that shes useless and has nothing good to show for. It would have been nice if there was a secondary plot like Seju following her dream. I believe in the last chapter of Paradise, she did mention about wanting to achieve a higher position or something, so she should go ahead and do that.

Mmm yes, so what I think is that Sumin forgiving her is a necessary but maybe not sufficient condition for her to forgive herself. Due to her issues with her mom, the treatment from her family etc.
About the pool, was there ever any consensus on what happened there? Did she slip, throw herself to get Won's attention, or was that an impulsive suicide attempt? I don't think it was suicide attempt because honestly she had a lot more reasons to end things before in the main series, and she didn't.
I wonder if her fear and at the same time fascination with water is related to how her mom died? I don't remember if anything is mentioned about that.
No zombies?
I refuse to believe everyone did nt turn to zombies.
This was boring af, was expecting (lesbian) zombies too.
