Big block of Girdman post redacted because I ended up writing too much about other things

There are a TON of hangups on who is the bigger villain and therefore detailed write up. I doubt I can change your perceptions at all on this so it is what it is. I probably even misunderstand your point. I apologize if I misunderstand, but I just can't grasp the entirety due to a combination of personal experience and a touch of wishful expectations on the series progression. Just consider me too dumb to understand.

This is how I see the 2's situation:
Personal view: People and all their people-related issues are rarely if ever completely black and white.

Personal view: People act irrationally when they are angry. Both parties were mad and both made mistakes. Both were in the right for something, and both were also in the wrong for something.

Observation: This is where the divide line among posters happen.
Fact: Yamada did have a major brain fart when she chose to handle the phone call and the situation that way.
Reader's interpretations: This was bad writing. Yamada is far too immature despite her progress previously. Kase is too good for Yamada. Yamada is worse than Hitler. Etc.
Comment: Please please do not dwell on this bit. I am paraphrasing a lot and I don't want to read pages of posts just for this section.

Wishful thinking for Kase and Yamada's progress: As personal experience comes into play for this, if you start counting every wrong and sin someone ever done against you, it's very emotionally draining and tiresome. Taking into effect that the two are still young and dealing with usual relationship hiccups. Stuff like this would happen. So I'm not too bothered by who broke the bigger taboo, as no one is dead or emotionally injured for this to really matter to me. Therefore a scenario where the two have effective communication about what's really bothering them should happen.

For me, this is a very touchy and personal subject. Poor communication on top of people who constantly talk over me because older or other reasons. Because having a large fight and not interacting with each other for indefinite periods of time never addressed the what and why the fight happen. I've had far too many family fights like this in the past and NOTHING ever gets fixed this way. Everyone kept insisting that they were right and the other was wrong. It just dragged on endlessly and bystanders like me absorb the brunt of things and sometimes even get blamed for things beyond my control. The problem is still sitting there, and people never knew what or why they were actually fighting about. What a colossal waste of time, energy, and emotional health! Yet most people I know chose this route because it's the only way they know rather than trying to be honest about their deeper insecurities and opening up. I can't even begin to describe the emotional bagge, pain, and insecurities I've had to dealt with this way. When I read the end of this chapter, it was immensely refreshing/liberating/uplifting to see them opening up like that what was exactly eating them. But I understand that not everyone will read this chapter the same way I did. That's perfectly alright. Because their life experience will let them see this differently. This was just my interpretation, which is wrong for others. For me, I want to see 2 fictional characters understand each other's worries and move forward rather than dwell on the past mistakes.

Therefore the chapter ending with the two talking things out feels like a step forward for me personally despite how some may feel Yamada is regressing.

Side note. I have a very timid friend. So I definitely understand parts of how Yamda may function. I myself am also socially awkward, so also able to feel why Yamda may act the way she is. Sometimes you take a step forward and then you take a step backward because weather, shitty day, random asshole, stepped on dog poo.

"But IRL timid people don't-"
Please don't assume what I do and don't

Onee-sama needs to be a bit more aggressive. Although it's very nice to see Vira take the lead like this.

What kind of delinquent brought all that stuff to eat just at the school anyway? "Ah yes, today I know the perfect way to mess with the class rep! It's absolutely foolproof!"

Stop acting like their mistakes are equal.

There is a huge difference between Kase not updating Yamada on every thing she does in college when Yamada made it a point in high school to avoid over associating herself with Kase's club life and Yamada choosing to go to a mixer despite Kase being very up front about how that makes her feel.

Are we playing "I am the bigger victim, therefore you are at fault" game here? Did someone get killed when I wasn't looking? This is a communication issue, not a murder mystery where there's a clear cut Murderer and Victim. Neither anticipated what their partner was going to do. We are looking at a love story of 2 young, insecure individuals based in Japan, where effective and direct communication isn't very likely to take place.

Reader's shouldn't either seeing as how Yamada should have gotten over her jealousy crap when she finally learned to get over the Inoue-senpai misunderstanding.

Ah yes, let me just smack myself or will power out of this emotion. No. People can't just switch on/off their emotions like that. There are ways to manage your emotions, but it's something that takes time and a certain amount of emotional maturity to understand and be aware of. Neither is very experienced with any of this since this is still pretty new territory for them. If it's not obvious enough, Yamada is extremely insecure about her relationship with Kase. They don't and can't hang out as often as they did back in high school. And to Yamada it sounds like Kase is having fun with her roomie even though it's just usual roomie banter. Yamada was able to hash some stuff out with Mikawachi before, but this is now a luxury that she can't always afford. She hasn't told Hana about Kase either, so she's fairly isolated in her new environment and pretty lonely. Which leads to her doing stupid things. Does that mean we have to hate stupid people and ostracize them forever? If you actually answer yes to that you really need to reconsider a few things in life. (And I'm going to loop Let It Go in your general vicinity for several weeks) For one thing, nobody stays the same forever. People change, they become either better or worse. They may stagnate for a time, but they have to change. And we are just talking about cute girls in a yuri manga, not some grim dark Devilman thing with lots of issues to explore. Ease up on the hate wagon.

The situation shouldn't be viewed as "A did a bad, therefore A is a villain!!1111" The important thing should be "Did A learn from the mistake and improve." People flub, People have bad days. People make mistakes. SAINTS make mistakes. And Yamada or Kase isn't a saint. I never said Yamada was blameless in the whole fiasco, she handled it pretty poorly in fact and had to get bailed out by Kase. Kase also did push the wrong button which prompted Yamda to react so strongly against her wish. So both did something wrong and kind of started fighting. But did the two have a big pissy fight after they leave the bar? No. They talked it out and made up. I would understand if people get up in arms if the two started playing the finger pointing blame game and drag out the shit fling for several chapters, but this was wrapped within one chapter. Why are the readers even more worked up than they are when the conflict actually resolved in a very responsible, civil and adult-like manner???

"But she started-"
Don't make me enact Armomageddon again!

Some folks are just naturally allergic to wordcount that are over 100. I've had people tell me to just "chill, it's just manga," "too long, who cares what you wrote" when I talk about specific points in manga. Really, as far as discussions go. This is very civil and worth talking over rather than "who cares it's just a trope thing/cultural thing/your-opinion-is-clearly-stupid thing."

Both made mistakes, both realized they made mistakes, and they both learned from this experience. Nobody's perfect. They just need to communicate better next time. I do understand being directly upfront about your needs and insecurities can be a really tough thing due to cultural things or just personality. So either directly voicing their concerns and fears may literally be scarier than fighting a Lv 90 dragon with a wooden stick. 2 years ago, I'm pretty sure I'll take duking it out with a fire breathing dinosaur over talking with my family over certain things.

tl;dr People don't understand certain things and/or do really stupid things when they are young.

There's a thing with interpretations, it's heavily based on each individual's perception. If you see wholesome stuff, it's wholesome. If your brain is in the not some wholesome space, the outcome is a bit skewed.

Valentine's is just a big marketing ploy these days anyway. I'm absolutely not bitter that I do not have another person to share this capitalist holiday with. Nope.

Is that an Arale reference? Boy I feel old

The titular character Arale also was told at the school she was going to that she can't be a human. After some brain in the gutter scientist creators over imagination and wacky Toriyama humor, the punchline of the chapter was you guessed it. No belly button.

People can work in polyamorous relationships, though the key to that is communication and consent from all parties involved.

Oops. Didn't mean to generalize there. It's just rare for me to see manga depict polyamorous relationships and have those written well and end well. I'm far too used to seeing these type of relationships be portrayed as a joke or negatively.

Its' just a gag manga why you write essays

For me it's important to want to understand why a story may not work. Is the characters at fault? Why does the premise of a story not hook a reader in? What sort of thing would really rub a reader the wrong way? Does the reader just want to hate on the author? I could just go "shit sucks move along", but that adds nothing at all to the discussion even if there's very little. Why does this story fail to engage people? Which part of this is considered comedy and how is that appealing to you as a reader? I am not going to give a free pass to anyone just because insert reason X Y and Z. You could apply the same "nobody'll read this shit because this isn't worth discussing" argument to any number of works such as movie, games, and anime. And it'll make you sound like some twat who is incredibly judgemental about someone else's hobby.

"Are you seriously doing a 15 minutes Youtube video on why insert anime is terrible? Why are you getting so worked up over some dumb weeb shit"
"It's just a cartoon. Cartoons are just for kids. Grow up and read something else."
"Who cares about lore in video games?"

I had forgotten about this thing, and had hoped it stayed forgotten.

So while the premise of the story is interesting, everything else just leaves a spoiled taste. This is probably going to spiral into a mini thing about gacha games but I might as well go there. There's a point, I'll get to it eventually.

I play gacha games, and I understand the rarity system on a game setting. But if you apply this to a "real world" situation like this one, it just seems incredibly skeevy. You use rarity system in game in order to encourage mooks like me to whale money or ingame resources for the ultra ware waifu/husbando or the mentality of gotta catch 'em all. Because, companies gotta make money even if it means preying on people's psychological state and does encourage gambling. (Look, the alien game even asks you to buy points. What's the conversion rate of this dodgy game anyway?) In an actual gacha game, it's possible and even encouraged for you to have multiple waifus/husbando. You can even get away with this because it's not like your digital sweetheart has the ability to kick your sorry ass to the couch for cheating on her/him. Hell, some games even have a ring system where it'll boost the stats a bit. You just need to pony up the money for rings. If you are a mad enough lad/lassie, you can have your entire slots filled with married ships/guns/whatever. You get to fulfill your harem fantasy in a game, win win for you and big win for the game developer. But this system breaks down if it involves actual feelings.

You get to be the king/queen of your fantasy harem troupe because nobody is trying to kill each other. Which is practically impossible in a real world setting because humans are complicated animals. What's the worst possible situation in a harem game/anime? Nice Boat end You get found out that you've been cheating. Why is that a big deal? Feelings. You just stomped all over whatever trust, love, and whatever emotions you two had built up over time because you couldn't keep it in your undergarment. Several outcomes can happen, but you will always lose that precious trust/credibility you've built up. And sometimes your head because one of your love interest is a yandere and you are a scum.

I've gone of track a bit. So let's talk about the rarity system for a sec here. So far, there are the appearance of Normal (big boob girl), Rare (the tomboy who's not even thought of as a girl), Miracle Rare (emotionless ice queen), and Super Miracle Rare (still same ice queen.) According to the alien blonde, she collects R girls to get filthy rich. Going by what we've seen so far, basically she just mooches off the goodwill and money of all the girls she's conquered. You need Points to "Attack" a girl. You gain these Points by either Pay2Win or you go the pleb route of clearing Normal girls. Game doesn't even take Japanese currency, so you gotta clear a bunch of Normal Naka-chan/IDW. Frankly the idea of this is just horrifying to me. Because this is treating all these girls as nothing more than walking wallets rather than people with feelings. You step on the Normal rarity girls to rack up Points just so you can go after the Super Miracle Rare.

The motivation of MC might be to protect her childhood friend who also happens to be some SSR character in a game. But the way she does this makes me want to scream at her to take care of the people around her better while shaking her violently. Look at chapter 4. Let's look at what happens after she goes on a date with the cute boob girl. "Ah. Yesterday was so fun. I didn't find any Rare girls though." Translation to my brain, she's cute, but not good enough. Few pages later, she discovers that there's an R girl in the immediate vicinity. Turns out it's her friend, someone she's never even viewed as a girl. Um... Rather than worrying about silly things like "jeopardizing friendship FOREVER" or "getting arrested for public indecency," she decides to publicly sexually harass her poor friend at the front of school when students are coming in. What the fuck is your damage lady?

On an execution point, this kind of idea could be done better. The World God Only Knows' Keima would be a good starting point. He has 0 interest in real girls. He only cares about digital girls in games. He's only roped into going after real 3D people because plot. Keima may end up "conquering" girls, but he learns and grows from his experience. He may think real girls are annoying and troublesome, but he still went through great pain to try to understand each girl's problem and make them happy. Just in a very roundabout dating sim way. Chapter 2 of Heart of the Girl presents a different way to clear a girl: bumbling your way into making 2 girls already interested in each other confess to each other. So the Yuri Fairy way is possible. But this was presented by an idiot blonde whose sole motivation is to be a leech and mooch off people. So... shrug It also doesn't help that the MC is a big perv whose one track mind means she doesn't take into other people's feelings and considerations at all.

Look, the Bright and Cheery Amnesia thing works because it didn't have a shitty game system that preys on human psychology/treats you as ATM instead of human thrown into the mix. I get it's a comedy and a 4 koma, but christ the execution just makes me want to scream. How do you turn this thing around? I have seen walking chick magnets in other works where the MC attracts cute girls just by virtue of existing and they have much better personality than her. What kind of comedy makes me want to smack people?
