I'm always happy to see the whole family together.

Nanoha and Fate are the sweetest moms.

Indeed, I'm surprised how little we have seen of either of the two in this manga. DIdn't the early chapters even try to hide their faces?

And where is my Vivio x Einhart!?

New Game started as one of the many "look we have moe girls doing slighlty yuri stuff" manga,so I find awesome how is turnig into something more than that.

Agree, really liked this chapter. The emotions felt real.

And tbf Kous artwork would make me take a look at the game wheras Aobas I probably would have skipped. Aobas woul make for a decent artbook cover though.

The lowest tier win I've seen was when Xian won EVO 2013 with Gen in SSF4AE 2012. Gen being a low-mid/high-low tiered character. That was the most hype thing ever.

Don't forget Kuroda of Third Strike fame.

Ah true :P

I've only seen clips from him though. Like when he basically says "FU" to Justin Wong by taunting an extra time with Q :p

Funny enough all of the best fight game players use mid or low tier characters.

Depends on the game, actually.

You can get away with using a lower tier character in Tekken or GG because the game is balanced enough that character differences can be mitigated by player skill.

In something like Marvel vs Capcom, using anything else except the top tier shells results in a one-sided match for the low-tiered side because the game is not balanced enough.

This, though it's no coincidence that majority of major tournaments in games are won with high-mid, high or top tier characters.

Asking the real questions here. Why is fighting games fun?? Also, why is there a yuri tag when there's no subtext tag? Where am and what year is this?

To me fighting games are fun due to the competitive aspect. And unlike team games like CS, Overwatch or MOBAs your success or failure is all on you.

I'm with Kagerou, size gap, best gap.

Also, shouldn't this have the size gap tag?

So you mean to tell me that there are arcades in Japan that only focuses on rhythm games? JAPAN HERE I COME

Was in Tokyo a couple of months ago, didn't see any arcade that specialized. Though they did usually have 1 floor for fighters, 1 floor for rythm games, 1 floor for those weird card hybrid video games, 1 floor for claw machines etc etc. Also, they are loud as hell and I would recommend bringing some good noise canceling headphones or else you won't be able to hear the music <.<

The most important part for getting someone into fighting games is to make sure they have fun. And part of having fun is being able to play a character that one enjoys, no matter how good or bad it is.

True, but at the same time, once you start whatever multiplayer you choose, even if fairly casual, it's super-annoying if you basically can't play your fav since it's one huge handicap. I suppose for a complete beginner it wouldn't matter too much, but I doubt that'd last long.

But it's basically the same for all games. Certain strategies, weapons etc are the most effective, and then you either do what everybody else does, or accept that you are going to lose against players of equal skill.

Fortunately most fighting games being released nowadays are usually pretty balanced and picking a low tier character doesn't usually lead to insurmountable match ups. And that's not taking into account that balance patches are much more frequent than they used to be.

But in the end it comes down to would you rather lose with a character you have fun playing or win with a character you don't like. I myself picked option 1, as I mained Makoto all through SSF4 when she was considered the worst character in the game (yes even worse than joke character Dan).

I don't think the FG community is any more cancerous than any other gaming community. Sure there are elitist douchebags but that's true with any community. In fact, most people in it that I've talked to are more than happy to help you as long as you come in with a good attitude and don't just blame the game for everything.

But this chapter really is a perfect example on how to scare someone away from fighting games. A beginner should not worry about frame data and which characters are good and which characters are bad. The most important part for getting someone into fighting games is to make sure they have fun. And part of having fun is being able to play a character that one enjoys, no matter how good or bad it is.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

If she is from 7 years in the future, shouldn't this have an age gap tag?
