The first line, in keigo, is probably Rena's. And although お疲れ and 疲れた are related, translating this as wordplay doesn't work.

They both speak in a typical way for young women in manga. There's colloquialisms and such, but nothing unusual.

The volumes are how the chapters that were serialized get collected and sold. Volume 4 ended with chapter 26.

Again? Only 1 story was translated from the last one (blanche) and it looks like only half the 1st one was fan translated (it does have an official translation out soon though).

The blurb for volume 5, out May 11th, says it's the concluding volume.

The two parts came out about 4 years ago in consecutive issues of Yuri-Hime.

Chapter 12 is when Kayo's love interest gets introduced. Her romantic arc is still going as of 23.

^ The past tense is because the grandma isn't alone anymore thanks to her moving there. The question is about why she moved to there when the rest of her family didn't.

I like this manga - but one thing - You see quite often in anime/manga young kids living on their own (parents setting them up somewhere for school). These girls are in middle school - is that really a thing in Japan?

If it's not it seems weird to have some plot device that is unrealistic and if true, it seems irresponsible.

It's nothing to do with the publisher's taste. It's whether people bought enough copies of it. Editors know they're having to cancel tons of good series.

I think it's just to avoid hiding a large portion of the character's head while having things positioned that way.

It can be done for thought as well as speech.

If a trait is recessive, that means it can be hidden in the parents and show up in a child.

They kept hinting that Shiori was hiding a shameful secret. But, they never revealed what it was. I wonder if the fact that Shiori was a lesbian, was "the truth" that Hana was eventually going to find out.

It was simply that she was trying hard to put on an image in front of Hana, as discussed when Koh talked to Shiori without Hana there.

^ No, if you think properly about how to interpret what the mangaka has chosen and not chosen to put in, if a more complicated, more specific interpretation is intended, then the mangaka would have put in things to lead the reader to that interpretation. The absence is therefore evidence against the more complicated explanation, so the balance of evidence for it is weaker than for a more natural interpretation.

While a supernatural explanation is a possibility, it could be something mundane. Maybe her reoccurring nightmare is just that: a reoccurring nightmare. It might just be some scenario she dreamed up. That seems like the obvious conclusion—if someone I knew told me about this nightmare they keep having about two women who were lovers in the 80s and one of them kills herself, I would never jump to "Those people actually existed and one of them was you in a previous life" as a first explanation.

There's no reason to even believe Mihoko and Kinuko even existed in the first place, much less that the dream is a memory from a previous life.

You might think that way in real life, but applying that sort of skeptical thinking to manga is silly. The fact it's recurring and the big ending panel imply it's supposed to be more than just a dream.

We don't really need any more information for this to work as a good short story.

We don’t need anything other than “it’s past life memories” to make it work as a coherent story—“good” is a rather different matter. So she’s remembering something tragic from a past incarnation—what of it? We don’t know enough about her present life to think that the dream matters for anything except disturbing her sleep patterns.

It's almost weird that your reaction would be "what of it?" You don't need to know anything about her present life for the experience depicted to have significance and emotional resonance and be a good, interesting short story. Maybe try imagining what it would be like for you to be haunted by such an experience.

A young woman in the modern day has a recurring dream in which she is a young woman called Mihoko in a previous decade. Mihoko lives in an apartment with her lover Kinuko. Mihoko thinks they're happy together, but Kinuko is being urged to marry and can't bring herself to tell Mihoko. Kinuko hangs herself and Mihoko screaming her name after finding her is how the dream ends. The dreamer knows she isn't called Mihoko, she knows she has never lived in a place like that and she doesn't know who Kinuko is, however Kinuko's face feels familiar.

The ending (which is clearly supposed to be significant) seems to be suggestive of past life memories and everything else the mangaka has put in fits well with that. We don't really need any more information for this to work as a good short story.

All other interpretations seem to be people overlooking things or adding complexities that the mangaka has done nothing to suggest.
