I have some thoughts about this manga. When Hikari started doing things, I thought it was just manga logic and that was just the world this story was gonna be in. But then she did stuff and other characters got confused by it and acted like normal people and I realize that Hikari's a little... different? She acts like "falling in love" is something that happens everyday and isn't the #BigDeal that is it to many people. She doesn't realize when she's speaking out loud or in her head. She has poor social skills but appears to be an extrovert. Is she on the autism spectrum? I doubt takeshima intentionally wrote an autistic character (many authors don't really), but that's how Hikari's coming off to me. I honestly hope so 'cause I'd love some more autistic characters in manga. I absolutely love this story, though. Instant favorite.

Content-wise, I think the stories only get more satisfying as it continues. Canno's is a good opener and introduces the change of eras along with the ongoing theme of gay women speaking with straight women. Nega's, while the art is a little hard to follow, has stronger yuri themes and, in my opinion, has a more sympathetic protagonist. Kawauchi's is the most satisfying with plenty of nostalgia and happy but bittersweet feelings throughout.

The best word to describe this anthology: hope.

I could've let this one grow on me but you fucking invited your fucking husband to that same bar!? like What The fuck girl... Just tell her with a message, geez, that was awful of you! What were you expecting to happen? Make her cry of course!

Going by how she wanted to let her know eventually that she had a husband, I'm guessing the husband invited her there, also because she came in after him so it leads me to think that the husband was the one "leading" in their little date.

Yeah but she had her phone, a little warning would've been decent.

Also, I'm mad but I'm against using a tag that would spoil the shock that the author was intending to make with the first chapter.

I'm writing a love triangle story and have a little experience with what the teacher's feeling. Obviously, cheating irl sucks, but this is class-A material for "I don't want to be in this marriage." She wanted to keep the two worlds separate, probably with the hopes of leaving her husband sometime in the near future. Then, her husband books a date for them at the bar with her girlfriend and she probably panicked like crazy. Staring at her phone, "should I, shouldn't I, should I, shouldn't I," until it was too late. As someone with anxiety, I can personally attest to how realistic it is to not give someone a heads-up in this situation. It's super shitty, she should be yelled at for it, but it makes for a believably flawed character. And flawed characters means character development and conflict, which a story requires to be interesting. I added this story to my favorites the instant I finished reading it.

I'm getting Tadokoro-san vibes.
Not from the delinquent x class rep thing.
But from the blonde superwoman x black-haired normie thing.

Oh, btw, I'm also getting some Ayame 14 vibes. (Try to guess from what, c'mon, try! )

The part where blondie says she s*licked to her girlfriend?

I find it really surprising that so many people like Amane. I think she's incredibly annoying. She's short-sighted, narrow-minded, and embodies an anime archetype I despise. The short, pig-tailed, cutesy girl with lots of energy and an inferiority complex. I've seen her a thousand times and I never like her any more than I did the last time. She's stuck in the past and I don't want her getting back with Nene. She needs to learn to face reality and respect the feelings of others. But she's so loud and selfish that she only sees what she wants to. I can't stand her. Chapter 5 is easily the worst so far.

I haven't actually researched this, but is "cross-dressing" in Japan another word for being trans, or is it really just a fascination with dressing as the opposite gender?

So the snake was cheating with the dude behind his wife's back, an inherently passion-driven/impetuous thing already, and she was lying to him on top of all that, and then she has the gall to be miffed that he called her gross??

Also, her "snake tail" looks more like a big amorphous slug body in most of the frames, lol.

That's not fair. Based on the context of it, she didn't know that he was married. To her, it was a perfectly normal relationship and trusted him, which is why she tried revealing herself. When she did, he both told her that she was hideous and that he was cheating on his wife with her. I assume he said the latter because he was intending to end their relationship right there. It wasn't a "you're gross, but whatever" it was a "you're a hideous monster. who could ever love you?" The way this part is written implies that her revealing herself changed everything.

And it's not fair to say that she was lying to him. She was hiding her snake form because she had been treated like a beast her entire life. It seems she even hates herself a little bit because of the way she was born. This might be a comparison to queer people hiding their identities to protect themselves. Is it lying if a bi person doesn't tell their partner that in fear of being attacked? She had the ability to hide her tail and try to live a "normal" life. I think killing him might be a little overboard, but the author tried the sell the idea that the combination of all she had done to her and her expectations of their relationship were enough to end his life over. All the girls in prison town had to get their somehow.

I think this is Neji's worst work. It's still Neji so it's still very good, but it was short for what it was trying to do. The pacing was weird and it felt rushed. Judging by the thoughts expressed in the comments, I'm not alone in that sentiment. The characters are likeable, but I think there were too many for how few chapters there were and a lot of information is left to speculation (what happened between Mari and Chesha?). It also really rubbed me the wrong way that Akari saw other couples and figured that she could only be happy by copying them. Like, shouldn't you just want to be with Mari because you like her and want to be with her? Why do you gotta bring peer pressure into it?

The manager a good new character, but her facial details are borderline creepy.

I get the feeling that was meant to be a red herring. Characters designed like that tend to be villainous, and I think we were supposed to assume that, only to have her be totally rad and even represent what all the other couples might achieve. Keeps the tension going while the "twist" approaches.

This feels like the perfect setup for something bad to happen. Like, "They're running towards destiny, only distance keeping them from the happy ending they've desired for so-*RANDOM BUS HITTING ONE OF THEM*"

Just found this and holy shit I'm in love. From the first chapter, I couldn't stop reading. The art is literally stunning (I stopped multiple times just to stare at all the techniques the artist used), interactions are very organic, and the characters are adorable. It felt very gay from the first chapter, but I can see why some people are crying subtext. Thing is, I've watched a lot of subtext shit in my day and this ain't it. Someone earlier said this is like a bad version of Yuru Yuri, and that amused me because I thought the exact opposite just a few chapters in.

This feels more mature and like real-life style of comedy versus pure humor. I lost interest in Yuru Yuri because nothing ever happened and it was just these girls uselessly pining after each other with no payoff. Tsuzure Biyori seems to be going somewhere. Every chapter creates new narrative threads. some of which have already payed off. The continuity is actually important here. All the characters are unique without needing dumb anime hair to prove it. This story is heartwarming and wholesome and is going straight to my favorites. Mafuyu is my favorite.

Looked through comments just for that Mekakucity Actors comparison. God, this art is amazing. Made me wanna listen to 「daze」 so bad.

God I love this pairing. I think ChunLi/Cammy is a better pairing, but this one is probably closer to canon. Playing through SFV, I couldn't come up with any straight reason for Juri's actions. At least one-sided, this shit is fucking canon. Juri is jee-ay-why for Cammy. But, we all know Juri's a leg lady, so it's not too surprising.

Maybe this one doesn't deserve a bisexual tag because the boy's been totally forgotten, but it's important to remember that MC is bi. Just because she's in a wlw relationship doesn't make her a lesbian. In fact, both characters seemed perfectly capable of being in mlw relationships before this. You don't stop being bi when you start dating someone. Just like our girls Korra and Asami.

Instant fave. Really enjoyed the unique artstyle and characters. It has a Life is Strange vibe to it that I can't help but get behind. I don't think the pacing was that bad. It's a longer-ish one-shot and the story's pretty self-contained. Every interaction felt like it was building to her outburst. The beginning of the story tells us that she's looking for something and the full-page portrait of art-girl is Aoba being found. It takes until her confession the realize that this girl is what she's been looking for, and then she fucking commits. It's refreshing when compared to the more cliched stories of pining and denial. It does feel like chapter 1 of a longer series, though. I'm happy with what we got, but I definitely want more.

This is giving me some "Carol" vibes... Maybe it's just me.

It's not just you. This one rubs me the wrong way, though. Carol's a longer narrative, or at least we got more of it in a single sitting than this. But, even so, a lot of implications are made here in this one meeting. Yuki's just being a shy servant and is admiring someone she respects from afar. Beniko, however, is an older woman, a person of renown/authority, and just decides to pursue Yuki. The way she's going about it is weird, too, with her cryptic speech and dominating each of their interactions. Not to mention there's the whole "dating a fan" dynamic happening here. Beniko just comes off as predatory to me, and it's not just the age gap. Beloved L is one of my favorite stories ever, so I don't really care about age gap on principle. I have a problem with certain dynamics that use that age gap as anything more than coincidence. Beniko is clearly utilizing her higher authority to create some level of control over her target. And I do mean target, because her actions seemed rather pointed since she entered the cafe. Every action she makes is deliberate. Then, she has the creepy scene describing Yuki's skin and how pretty she is. Considering Yuki's disposition and (perhaps no coincidental) similarities to Beniko's book character, I think Beniko is viewing Yuki more as a doll or something to own rather than a person she's trying to woo.

I'm getting Carol vibes, but not the good kind. Will continue to read, but this chapter made me uncomfortable.

Suqling, our queen and overlord. I reblogged her K/DA art set. They are all seriously fucking lit. She's such a crazy good artist and I love it when she goes on fanart sprees that aren't work. Just to see her passion go wild is great. She's in such high demand, it's not as common as it used to be. She used to do a lot more gay back in the day.
