I laughed out loud seeing Ponko’s disembodied head with the wires connected to Akane’s forehead, I’d like to think that her running fast and leaving Fuji behind is representative of her getting over her crush on him. I get it, kids get crushes on adults and its a small town but I really hope she does actually move on from this now.

Okay I think it’s great that Nanoha wants to be with Chidori in the future but that’s not a great criteria for picking a college/career. Even if you’re always together forever it’s not a great idea to choose college or career based solely on wanting to be with someone. There’s no guarantee that your interests match that well. But I guess they still have a lot of time to decide. Hopefully Abe (or the senpai she’s dating) can give Nanoha some advice that helps her find her own groove.

I seriously hope that Momo isn’t just going to die gruesomely like the “clingly partner” does in every one of these edgy dark fantasy series. It would be a cool subversion for her to live and get paired off with the crazy princess so no one has to die.

puts on Saonji yuri goggles I think that part of the reason Saonji is so intent on idolizing Tachibana and viewing her as a god is part of a subconscious defense mechanism to stop herself from falling in love with Tachibana.

She said previously stuff like “that was close, I almost fell in love there” or “If things go on like this it could actually end up like some yuri... I finally made a close friend- I can’t ruin it like this!” In that panel (chapter 20) we can see her take the metaphorical yuri flag and snap it in half with her hands, and since then I think she’s been trying to keep a little bit of distance between herself and Tachibana and maintain their status as a platonic friendship.

By keeping Tachibana on a pedestal Saonji can channel her affection (which might turn to love otherwise) as simply admiration for her as an author. Alongside that, deliberately keeping herself from viewing Tachibana as an equal also serves as a self defense measure to keep Saonji from even envisioning the possibility of a romantic relationship with Tachibana.

This is just so meta. This is exactly like in chapter 7, and I now have an image in my head of the author looking confounded by all the analysis being done on their characters.

I do think it's likely more intentional though because the author here is actually writing yuri, and likely wants us to make these kinds of analysis posts. I gotta admit it's pretty fun to just go deep into the hidden messages that may or may not be intentional. I kinda understand how my english teachers must have felt now lol. If only we got to analyze GL novels in school...

@random wanderer I think you should give the second half of the series a shot. It’s not quite as strong as the first arc in Bauer but I still enjoyed myself a lot while reading it. I don’t regret reading it.

Second off the Romeo and Juliet quote used in the bonus comics was so good! Ahhhhhh Saonji totally would call Tachibana “the god of my idolatry” that’s so on point wow!!!

Ooh a new Kuwabara Tamotsu work, I’m looking forward to it. I really love their art style.

The author just directly gave each of them the same haircut as one of their moms lol. It’ll take a while but I’m looking forward to them showing up in the manga. One of my favorite parts in the empire section was the cooking arc

I wouldn’t say this for any other series, but after episode 4 I think there’s a good chance that this couple will become canon by the end of season two. It’s by no means guaranteed, I’m hopeful.

It was a trip to read like that but still a nice chapter, you know I like that whatever drama those two have has absolute no impact on the protagonist love, they can keep being lovely dovey while the plot moves forward. I still think is a silly battle because two hard heads refused to discuss clearly but well, as long as they don't ruin the yuri is not that bad after all.

Yeah I really like that too. It feels like Takeshima-sensei was like “you want angsty drama couple? Here. You want fluffy feel good girlfriends who get together early on? Here.” And of course I like both.

I really enjoy how even the “rival” characters are always still just regular people rather than forced into villain roles. Aki was never really mean to Hima, in fact she helped push her along more or less. And even though Shiho is on suuuuuper bad terms with Aki right now she’s not a jerk to Tachibana/Tsutsui and we even get to see her just hanging out with Hima and Momo at the cooking club. She might dislike Hima a little if she knew she was dating Yori, but I have a feeling she wouldn’t actually dislike her, especially since they already got along well already.

I really hate how people feel the need to argue that a character is not really bi and is actually a "pure" lesbian. As if there is something wrong or dirty about someone being bi.

Isn’t this the opposite case though? Miki has 100% dated men before, and likely had sex with them as well, but what people are saying is that because she was actually in love with Kana the entire time there’s no real evidence for her being bisexual. She specifically states “I tried my best to make it work with other people but...” which implies that the main reason she chose to date them was in order to force herself to get over Kana. That smacks of classic compulsory heterosexuality to me, just like above comments have also mentioned. Some people only realize they are lesbians later in life, and some of those people have already married men and had kids when they realize. That’s the vibe I got from this.

As far as sexuality goes all we know is that Miki loved and loves Kana. Maybe we should just take a page from Handsome Girl and Sheltered Girl and call her Kanasexual lol
