Really? I always see people say the exact opposite so I'm a little suprised. Where did you get those impressions, Japan or outside of Japan?

Maybe "compelling" is the right word, since we are still reading it, after all. I'm in a love-hate relationship with it. I never seem to resiste the urge to read the new chapters =x

I know nothin' about it, but I somehow doubt Saburouta will tone down on the aaaaaangst anytime soon -- hence the "8-10, if it's not cut short". That's just my personal guess, of course.

EDIT: Now, if you wanna know how long I think it should run, I'd say it should've been about 4 volumes long, and with less than half the melodrama.

That's exactly my problem with the 5th season. To me, it looked like the series was cut short, so they wrapped it all up very poorly. That season's also the shortest, so make of that what you will. I still liked the series up 'till then (with the first 3 seasons being good, and the 4th slightly weaker).

I remembered another one which may also be of interest: Hit & Miss. Protag is a trans hitwoman (that was really cumbersome to say/write)

Another oldie that may also be of interest: Fringe. Stay away from the last season, though, it's very crappy

It's good, but definitely not among my favorites. It kinda impressed me somehow that it managed to maintain the same quality level for at least 3 seasons (4th one's too disturbing for me; 3rd is the one I liked best), something close to no other series did. Also: Jessica Lange owned this series. Anyway, if you didn't like the 1st one, I doubt you'll like the others.

I don't know if it matches what you're looking for, but the 3rd season of AHS had mother-daughter relationships and female power as themes. I also shipped Lily Rabe's character x Taissa Farmiga's

I kinda get your points, but I'll disagree on the "pretty well told" part. While I don't exactly dislike stories on the cynical side of things (and I evidently didn't expect the story to end on the fluffier side), I think that last chapter was poorly executed and, as Kobalos said, pointless. Even with foreshadowings.

Someone inform Saburo Uta that a Sara Nina spanking scene is now mandatory.

Upping the kinkyness (and lessening the melodrama) may very well greatly improve Citrus, methinks.

You're hard on Citrus. I find it entertaining. I'm a sucker for angst. Gets me every time.

I'm guessing it's less about the angst 'n more about the melodrama.

I think that the sister can use a good headbutt.

A headbutt is maybe a little overboard, but she definitely needs some spanking. That "You'll support her" talk at the beginning was really below the belt.

I somehow doubt she'll be back pursuing Yuzu as she was, but I don't think she's gone for good. Maybe she has a chance if Yuzu isn't under Mei's spell anymore...

Not being good at communicating feelings is not an excuse for jerkassery. Actually, even Matsuri'd be a better pair to Yuzu, at least she does not treat those who she likes like garbage... Seriously, Mei doesn't deserve (nor need, probably) any lovers, she needs a good effin' therapist.

The additional art is pretty focused on big sis/main girl

I still can't make any judgements about it. That's still too few stuff (for me, anyways); we have only 35 pages of comic (of which sis only appears in, what, 4, 5?) and a few side art (exactly one of which, as you pointed, seems to hint at MC x sis -- plus header).
That being said, as long as it's done well, I don't mind love triangs (or other polygons)
