I'm assuming it's taking the traditional white geisha make-up idea and taking it to extremes.Note they also made up their eyes in similar manner.

That was my first thought too, but going by his other stuff he's into ... clown paint? Well, I suppose that doesn't contradict that this one is geisha inspired ...

Don't really get what's particularly creepy about that, though. Can't say it does anything for me but out of the billion odd fetishes the Internet delivers this is a rare one that could actually be done irl with no harm to anyone ^^

I'd never thought the day would come that people in comments on Dynasty, would talk how they want more rape in their yuri story ;v

Why not? Rape is clearly the purest expression of yuri. Just imagine a world where everybody rapes everyone else ...

Well, it's Japanese. Everyone's an alcoholic there anyway #stereotypes

Anyway, just re-read the entire thing and came to the conclusion that after school/college they should just all move in together.

Why you so boring?

Well, it's what the chapter did to me ;) My impression was that she was fairly genuine about being nice - maybe a bit of a pervert - but I don't think she's some type of psycho character. I didn't get the impression that anything supernatural was going on either. And I don't expect some tense action/thriller/... messed up scenario.

So, yeah, I simply think the backstory is going to be something fairly mundane ^^

I'm bored, so I'll try and come up with some theories on the "what's the 30-year old single woman doing in this place and how is she supporting herself" question:
1. She's from some stuffy, rich family and after messing around with another woman/possibly women was essentially banished to the country-side.
2. She herself dated some older woman, and once her quasi-wife died, inherited the house and enough money to support herself.
3. She writes porn (or possible something else) and prefers doing so where rent is cheap.
4. She's sickly and somebody thought living in peace and quietude would help.
5. She's really into historical re-enactment and feels the countryside is closer to her ideal.
6. She's running from a violent husband and hiding out in that village.
7. She's a former idol/model/actress and moved to a place where nobody knows her.

Hm. I genuinely can't decide. Such mystery.

Ayako didn't seem particularly invested in her marriage, romantically, if that was her reaction to getting proposed, I have to say. Feels more like "goes along with the pushy guy because she can't be bothered to say no" ^^;

But the rest is pretty cute.

Author gets brownie points for at least having put some thought into the nitty-gritty of the matter instead of just handwaving it.

To be honest this is one of those cases where I feel handwaving might have been a better idea (see: midi-chlorians). But I haven't quite decided yet. I guess it depends on what's done with these ... mechanics.

Always struck me as quite telling that a relationship where neither partner has to do anything beyond being "the fated one" is considered to be more romantic than one where the partners actually have to work for their love ...

And since when do comedy manga ever "go anywhere"?

That's what so many of them get wrong and why for example Majyo to Houki to Kurobuchi Megane is so brilliantly awesome.

Boob-overhang panels are a travesty and should be illegal.

The art style is so pretty! and I love that the author is obsessed with flowers.
I like the idea of a world only inhabited by women, if only because it serves as a guarantee that none of the characters will end up trapped in an impromptu "no homo" het ending lol

There are a bunch of those novels around ... more often than not they are about a male being born / created / etc and the tension this causes.

So, no, even with stories that seemingly don't even offer any possibility of het there's no safety ^^

Agreed. Humans are creatures of routine. No doubt immortals would get bored with some things and annoyed with others, but if you enjoy a nice cup of coffee on a mellow spring day for half a century there's really no reason why you wouldn't do that for ten centuries, too ...

So can anyone explain why "Tapestry"...?
I can't seem to connect it to the story. Just thinking of a textile variant like "veil" as in Maggie keeps on "hiding her real self" but what do you think...

Tapestries were often used to record stories or memories so sometimes they are used as symbol for remembrance and such in fiction; I'd personally have suspected that the title comes from that direction, but, who knows ...

e: also page 2 has a bit of an explanation in the top panel ^^

Forgetting regularly is the only viable type of immortality.

Because otherwise, the weight of memories becomes unbearable and you'd become insane.

I think a "normal memory" as everyone else has is perfectly sufficient. I know it's part of the immortality trope that it comes with thís downside of being sometimes more and sometimes less depressing because everybody else dies, but if I ie look at my great-grandmother who died at 95 and had lost literally everyone in her life expect for the younger generations and even there not all of them, then how's that different from the typical "immortal"? She certainly didn't go insane with grief.

People die, you are sad, and then you move on. It's perfectly possible for a human to cope with that with no special mechanism involved ^^;

That's no theory, that's at best wild speculation. And you can do that sort of thing for any manga as nothing about it is verifiable or even relies much on anything that actually happens in the plot ^^

I like the page where Meg essentially goes "I'm not who you remember ... ah, never mind, I actually am ."

Yeah, totally with the cliché-fest crowd. Not that I mind much, but couldn't, if this is supposedly scifi, the manga at least add a little of that? Like in the classrooms ... some technology maybe?

Otherwise, no clue what to make of it.

I've recently had some issues with repetitive strain injury. So I decided to print some of those stretch-routines from the manga.

Now every time I see those stretch instructions I just remember the pain from the ending and forget all about any other issue I might have. Works perfectly; I feel much healthier already.

I'd actually be kinda interesting if the teacher and her "swap-partner" were married with kids and everything (not to each other) and still doing their swapping thing. Could be all sorts of weird in intriguing ways ...

This story is right on the border, between cute and creepy. Seriously, I feel like I might end up on some government watched list, just reading it.

Imagine this done with real actors ... or, well. Actually better don't.

But then that's true for a lot of stuff on this page so nothing new ;)

But that's OK. Yuri is justice.

But again, I don't want to start a flame war, and this isn't really the place to be having this sort of discussion, so I'll leave it here.

So you post something that clearly needs debate and then decline to discuss it? How very productive. ^^

Ignoring the other stuff (which equally can easily be refuted), but a) we're talking about Japan here, and b) look at the stud <-> slut dichotomy, what virginity means for men or women, and at similar issues, and you'll easily see why this is definitely not an issue where women are favored, either in the West or elsewhere ...
