That last chapter was too fanservicey for me. Not as bad as it could have been, given the topic, but certainly not my favorite in the series.

Reminds me a bit of Daiteikoku, the AliceSoft sRPG/visual novel game. That re-writes WWII into space, with Japan defending China from evil Western capitalists (by invading it). Oh, and Hitler is some sort of pop-idol girl.

And I thought, "well, this is obviously comedy, someone just dicking around; it's got nothing to do with reality ..." - but I played it a bit and I just could not stomach it. Which feels a bit hypocritical if I looked around at all the incest, rape, loli stuff and whatnot else one might be outraged about; and of all these things some sort of parody thing bugged me?

But even knowing that I couldn't get over it and I fear this'll be exactly the same ^^;

I've already rewatched Moribito and 12 Kingdoms. I followed that by some Kill la Kill and Soul Eater and Nanoha (although I wasn't in the mood for that and none of them are exactly mature, but at least they aren't just comedy). And some Guardian of Sinners (but even that leads into some really weird harem).

I mean, it's fine and all, and it's not like there aren't others too, but the bulk of what I watched is kinda from 2012 and earlier, and you'd think, after half a decade or so there'd at least one or two new ones instead of always rewatching the same stuff (or watching male leads or slice-of-life girls-only sort of stuff or romance. Nothing against any of that, just not what I always want ^^; )

I have not been happy with animes for a while; esp. a lack of good, mature female lead ones.

In desperation those last few days I watched some Princess Principal, but if I have to listen to one more "Princess!" I'm going on a killing spree murdering all those VAs for their ridiculous Engrish. And that's aside from all the other typical anime rubbish it comes with ^^;

Cute chapter, and I like that Asuka doesn't (or didn't) give a shit about her dad. Hadn't occurred to me, but makes sense.
Not quite sure how I'm supposed to take "she had quite the expression after she got married"? I guess I'm wondering because it's tough to imagine the mom standing around beaming at everyone, somehow, but I suppose that's what's most likely meant ....

I wasn't the biggest fan of the first chapter, probably because I expected this to go as a typical harem series, with only ever some "accidents" but nobody actually doing anything - but stuff's happening. Definitely a positive surprise.

Let's not forget about the vast differences in cultural norms. Like, not too long ago I read some US lesbian romance, where they had a kid. And one of the moms exists the shower naked (or sleeps in the nude, I don't remember precisely), because she's used to it, and the 4-5 year old or whatever kid sees her.
And then the other mom is immediately scandalized and scolds her that this shouldn't be done and she is all "of course, I wasn't thinking; it won't happen again."

While in a Japanese novel the woman would perhaps have bathed with her kid naked in the first place; and even in Europe I don't think that would typically be seen as an in any way noteworthy or problematic event ^^;

I'm personally OK with it if it's done to the point of ridiculousness, so you know it's not to be taken seriously. Like in Yamato Nadeshiko - let's have the heroine creepily butcher some fish ... and all those stereotypical bishounen guys ... and aunt departing in a bunch of helicopters while scattering rose pedals .... "Calm down, it's a human!"

Obviously the message is still questionable. But whatever, humor sometimes still has to fuck around with social norms. ^^

Because it's generally proven that authors believe everything they write. Ever since Tolkien got locked up in a closed asylum because he couldn't shut up about invading orcs scientists looking into the matter have discovered that writers are consequently unable to distinguish fact from fiction; fantasy from reality.

Such is the price of creativity.
