Woah, I almost missed this cos the name was changed to the alias I'd not recognise at a glance. Bless the scanlation though, amazing stuff.

Too short, but very cute. It also has one of my favourite recent covers. Some nice manhua lately!

Yeah, as much as I'm not that into this, we definitely ought to take the little wins where we can. Reading back on some of those comments from earlier in the series...would've been tough to wait months to see if it was really going there. That particular love triangle and its associated drama never developing is a good thing!

Such incredible art. Great work on the translation, too. The immediate groundedness felt unusual, and then I noticed the author. Of course it's not just Yuri, but also a larger character piece in a larger world. Bullied girl's design is also impeccable. Really looking forward to this one.

This is...disappointing. It's just not very good. It's not good as a sequel. It's not good as a standalone. It's sort of...there. I read the first few chapters when they came out and didn't think it was anything special, and after having caught up I still find it quite un-special. I don't hate it, but it's disappointing to read something so bland and straightforward from one of our greats.

Disregarding the obvious complaints made regarding amnesiac jealousy, there's just not enough new ground here to cover. Chitose and Yae more or less retread the same "drama" from the first series (and not even the good parts!!). Neither their individual character nor their relationship dynamic are fleshed out any further, or shown to have evolved since the ending of the first series. When the sequel does bring up past material (i.e. futanari and gender talk) it feels far too brief and phoned in to have any impact. As the series progressed, I lost sight of why they're even in this story to begin with.

I'm imagining Morishima wanted to write about Youko (and perhaps Yae's reaction to her being bi). There's a lot of potential here, and we do get occasional glimpses on the fringes. Morishima's comedic flare is still present, and her timing is as good as ever. Some of the character interactions are very real in their spitefulness. Fencing is great and swordplay is far too rare in yuri manga in general. Ayumu has a nice shell, and her struggle with identifying and dating a bisexual woman is not just relatable, but almost never approached with the level of consideration it deserves for a genre about girls loving girls. Given the depth of conflict in Hanjuku Joshi and Morishima's own struggles with sexuality, this seems like an obvious pressure point that gets little more than a passing mention.

Which, sadly, seems to sum up a good portion of this manga. The character introductions are clumsy. The "attachments" between our main couples, to the extent they exist, go almost completely undeveloped. The boyfriend is introduced as a simple plot device and never goes anywhere further. Like, some of this stuff is brought up in such a rapid and disinterested way, it made me wonder if she wasn't working overtime to keep the page count as low as possible. I like brevity, sure, but there's so little commitment to any actual exploration here, much of the work put in feels wasted. Even avoiding the most obvious comparison, neither the plot nor the characters beget any of the very real satisfaction that her stories usually deliver. The couple dynamics aren't new. The conflict setups aren't new. Even the characters themselves have so little quirk or life that they feel old and overplayed.

The story may not be salvageable, but I do still love and appreciate Morishima Akiko for all she's brought us in her many years of storytelling. I trust that this is a random blip, a result of many poor factors coinciding at the wrong time. I know in a better world, this would be everything Hanjuku Joshi was, and more. I do hope the series received a satisfying conclusion in Galette 16, even if I know it won't satisfy me personally. (Sorry, this mostly just reads like a rant.)

Edit: And yes, sorry for not having added the Cheating and Bisexual tags sooner. They definitely ought to have been here since at least chapter 6. Given that they'll be taking up about half the series at its presumed conclusion, they are necessary pretty much however you look at it.

I honestly just wanted a cute pet...

Maybe I'm just biased towards the Madoka doujins, but this was really tame based on my expectations of the author.

Touhou dj featuring the girl with the little head blobs finding a new home as a firefighter(?). Probably just came out last year.

I wavered on the Yuri tag, since the standout joke is a gay one. Unfortunately it's just in a weird place, so this will forever remain a lonely (if very funny) Comedy doujin.

I think we all need a long vacation from 2020

True.

She's been posting content publicly for around ten years at this point. She's been drawing full-length stories for about five - and maintaining a social media presence, and sometimes streaming - been serialized for nearly three, not to mention the rest of her life. Even before the pandemic she talked about the loneliness of city life and her introversion sometimes making her feel different(?). Highly competitive careers are draining in the best of circumstances. If she needs a break from serialization or art altogether to work on other aspects of her life, I think it's awesome that she has that opportunity. Hopefully she's able to give Nettaigyo the fitting end she wants, and then move onto whatever awaits her next!

Was removed from the site by request of the artist, though I don't see any obvious info about the English release.

Depressing as fuck indeed. Shouldn't this also have Setsuna x Yuu ?

There's not enough of them for anyone looking for that content to be interested, and they're not relevant enough to be their own characters in the story. So, I don't think it will be added.

Chapter 0.5 is part of volume 3, even though it occurs before any of the other chapters. Yeah, it's weird, but the current chapter order is correct! Please don't dwell on it too much!

https://dynasty-scans.com/authors/shiroinuchikusyo

Given an alias, thanks.

Currently a lot of people I work with have completely lost the motivation to translate any images as a result of almost a hundred or more translated comics not having been approved, and for things like the recent Pocky Day and such other things like current events, images only ever seem to get approved weeks later if anything, when they practically don't matter anymore. Is there some assured way I can get proper feedback on submissions and their status around here without a lot of back-and-forth? That aside, generally wondering if having more people approving things would prevent such issues, particularly around the standard times where event-based stuff would matter like AprilFools/Halloween/Christmas etc. Just my two cents for improvements.

I'm sorry to hear that, that sucks. Images aren't really my territory, but I can say for the time being that there aren't any plans to expand the people working on them. This has never been expressed to me as an issue. We do, (un)fortunately, get dozens if not hundreds of requests per day. In addition, they're generally added on a schedule and have various extra conditions before they're posted. Given the sentiment you've expressed, the most obvious change seems like an increase in uploads per week.

That said, I'll definitely raise this with the appropriate parties and we'll try to work something out. I know it's not what you're looking for, but please do reach out to me on Discord (Orange Pekoe#0863) if you want to discuss this further, or just highlight me anywhere on the Dynasty Discord Server. If that's no good, email also works. Rather than a back-and-forth on specific submissions, I'd be much more interested in developing durable long-term solutions.

I haven't had an issue with the pacing of the series over all, but ch 9 just feels really rushed. It just gives "I'm trying to wrap everything up asap" vibes. I'd be glad if we are all wrong though and Canno has more in store for us because I do think there is a lot more that needs to be touched on.

Oh, that's totally fair. Seems to me that Akira's been building up to this moment for the last couple chapters, so no part of the sprinting in to confess seemed brisk. I suppose Rin's running off into a cliffhanger does give those vibes, especially given how mopey and introspective the series has been during past conflicts. I'm definitely withholding any judgement before we see where this goes, though. Would be pretty bummed if it just ended next chapter.
