Even though I love the story and these two, I find it a bit off putting that there's a possibility that Aria is just obsessed with Ichika because of how similar she is to her grandma

(Ch. 19) yeah I think Aria is starting to feel some guilt about their relationship. Between the “I’m leaving to protect you” vibe and the thinking about her grandma, I think it’s being made pretty clear that Aria’s not been/being completely open about what’s going on for her vis a vis their relationship.

Anyway, this is so so good. These depictions of good sex really do it for me, and I love how the niece has this seductive/sadistic side that also feels totally down to earth. I love any story where someone’s self-restrictions or limits are overcome by the force of their body and emotions, and it looks like we’re in for a treat case of that with this story. The quality is staying high between chapters, too... I’m really excited y’all.

Although I couldn't help but feel a little sad over the premise, I feel that in real life something like this would never happen. The idea of a straight (?) girl who falls for a guy but still loves and accepts him when it's revealed that she was a girl all along... that's not how sexual orientation works, is it?

As a trans woman I can attest that it does work like that sometimes. I have plenty of friends who were in long-term relationships when they realized what was up, and some of them are still with their partners years later. It's not super common, no, but it's definitely a thing.

(Ch. 59) Holy shit I did not expect that at all, what was with those vibes and that Sherlock pick-apart??? Damn. We're seeing some hidden depth here. This is such a good manga.

Also, to explain the ending of chapter 10 in case anyone missed it (I did my first time through): the protagonist has just realized that while she accuses her father of trying to replace her mother by jumping into another relationship, she is guilty of doing something very similar by getting into a relationship (of sorts) with the vampire girl.

it seemed to me to be that the idea of her being replaced by another source of tears hits hard because of how she views the idea of her father dating again as some stranger replacing her mother (to be fair, he did say she "needs a mother")

(Ch. 10) Yeah, I think she’s afraid of being replaced or not mattering because of how she interprets her dad’s response to her mother dying, and the thing about being “the same” I think, based on the parallelism of her position in the two panels, is about her replacing her mother with someone else to take comfort from. I think she feels guilty about being comforted, especially with the sort of maternal tone that was going on.

Nonetheless—my hype has only grown! Looks like we’re starting to get a little bit more insight into our vampire, too; what was with that expression? I hope we find out

(Ch. 8) We don’t get much, “clinging to her as the darkness howls around me and my world flies apart” yuri. I stg if they bury these gays I’m gonna loose it.

(Ch. 17) This is going beyond normal gag territory into the surreal! ...it’s really cute, too.

(Ch. 8) S&M yuri is truly a gift. This is a very horny story and I like it. But seriously, what I think is really cool about this is how blurred the lines are between something routine and sort of platonic and something clearly thirsty (lmao) and romantic, plus how this daily routine for them seems constantly on the verge of turning into pretext-less making out or a shift in their relationship.

I love how the thing anchoring this story in its (currently) stable episodic format is Nami’s pride and shame to admit the she gets off on the pain, it’s like there’s this one emotional loadbearing bolt that we get to see twist around and start to worry loose, and that really fits with the BDSM theme.

It’s also really cool that the past couple chapters have been showing a much deeper emotional circumstance underlying the story—it’s not just a gag manga where they’ve just set up this scenario, it gets into how Nami’s life is pretty fucked and like some masochists the pain is a relief from the much scarier and deeper emotional pain of her home life. Similarly, seeing how she agreed to their arrangement without even really believing Kotono was a vampire makes the stuff she’s agreed to stand out even more, as, from a reader perspective, it gets rid of a lot of plausible deniability for why she’s doing this.

I hope we can get a little more on Kotono in the next couple chapters!
