Yeah, actually, rereading the chapter I think you’re right. I still don’t really consider him a threat though considering how Kurokawa still seems utterly uninteresting at even the possibility of dating him. Hopefully Ajiichi doesn’t go for another love triangle.

Honestly I'm counting this as progress, even with the "great friends" line. For one, Kurokawa going into a mostly-unprompted rant about how amazing Nanaki is, along with the latter's reaction to her praise, was cute. Then there was Nanaki slowly realizing that she's not satisfied with just being Kurokawa's friend. Another thing is that she's hearing just how big of a inferiority complex Kurokawa has towards her, even with them being as close as they are. I forgot if Kurokawa's ever talked directly about that with her, but considering Nanaki's reaction here it definitely looks like this is the first she's ever heard of it.

Finally, just look at Kurokawa's face when she says "She's a great friend.". I don't know about anyone else, but that expression definitely screams "I have more-than-platonic feelings for this girl", even if Kurokawa doesn't realize it herself yet.

Also, it does seem like Akio isn't actually interested in Kurokawa and just wanted someone to geek out with. I mean yeah he's blushing and stuttering in the second half of the chapter but that only started when he started talking about that manga, and he does seem genuinely interested in talking about the manga over anything else.

This is like the doujin equivalent of a crackfic. Thanks for going through the trouble of explaining all those references lol

They're more or less rivals in the game AFAIK but the real reason there's so much art of them is because this particular artist really loves this ship ship.

Here's a random Amiya x Specter picture. This is 100% a crackship but apparently the person who requested it is really into the ship, to the point where they wrote a 9-part Amiya x Specter fanfic. I've only skimmed it but from what I got from Google Translate its pretty angsty/lewd.

So earlier I mentioned the different crystal fragments having a bit of lore on their respective element's Archons. I looked them over at the alchemy bench, and it turns out that the highest-rarity form for them (ie the Gemstone) has the full quotes for them.

Barbatos:

This is amazing. The fact that these were mostly treated seriously and not just played up for comedy makes this collection even better than I was expecting.

There's pictures comparing how Paimon's little headpiece looks like the thing the god from the beginning cut scene summoned. Also what Paimon wears is similar to what that same god was wearing. Really gets you thinking if she's like, a double agent that's fooling you this whole time. Maybe once we reach the end, Paimon ends up being the final boss lol.

Huh, I never noticed that. I doubt Paimon's an actual double agent but she's definitely connected in some way. Though if Paimon does somehow turn out to be the final I'd be fine with that too - and I'm saying that as someone who actually likes her.

Actually, there's more lore in that manga I linked. The prologue chapter gives some details about Celestia, the land the gods ascend to. Once you become a god, those descriptions of "blah blah are my flesh and blood" LITERALLY mean that those are his literal flesh and blood. Everything that was created was from the body of a god. This really makes the descriptions and legends more uh, "interesting" when you think about it.

Yeah, I'm planning on reading the manga sooner or later. I've heard people complain about how Genshin Impact's story and characters are boring but honestly I do find them interesting - especially all the backstory and lore regarding the old dead(?) gods that used to rule.

Another interesting tidbit, the archon names we've gotten so far, Barbatos and Morax (Rex Lapis's other name), are both demons from the Lesser Key of Solomon. Interestingly, so is Paimon. Wonder what that all means...

Speaking of shipping, here's a slightly short Amiya x Siege comic. I'll probably typeset this one sooner or later.

Something neat that I noticed while reading the descriptions on various items. If you look at the different crystal fragments used as characters ascension material, there's a bit of text/lore related to the Archon associated with that element. For instance, the Geo fragment for Rex Lapis says "The currencies that flow through this land are my flesh and blood." Makes sense, considering how Liyue is big on trading and all. This also applies to the Archons that haven't been introduced yet - the Pyro fragment says "A pilgrimage for a wish; a battle to earn a name..."; the Pyro Archon is apparently a war god, so this also makes sense.

The Cryo fragment description is the one that stands out - its description is just "Sorry..." Considering that the Cryo Archon is the one supposedly in charge of the Fatui, this has some implications. (That said, I haven't gotten to the story quests in Liyue yet so her whole thing might've been further explained later on already)

EDIT: Well I just searched up whether there's any fanart and realized that Barbara and Jean are sisters. Dream crushed in its cradle...
