Airi enjoys Hina's pain, but I think Airi enjoys the fact that Hina "endures" for Airi specifically more than anything else.

Definitely this. It's why she gets off on the blindfold thing. Airi loves watching Hina endure the mental and emotional suffering/suspense of not knowing if Airi abandoned her, but still sitting there and obeying her anyway. It's the way that Hina values Airi's commands over Hina's need to escape whatever pain she's going through

BDSM isn't about pain. It's about power and trust, whereby the sub surrenders all autonomy to a dom who has unfettered power. The dom derives pleasure from being permitted to do anything in their discretion without traumatizing, maiming or killing their partner. The sub derives pleasure from being pushed to their sensory and emotional limit, with a boost from their partners demonstrated willingness to surrender their superiority by not harming them too much.

In this relationship Hina has greater self confidence than Airi. The latter has opted for the high achiever route, sacrificing her autonomy for a role of suffocating self abnegation. After holding her breath and playing the perfect robot, she goes back to Hina and vents her frustration, a highly intimate privilege afforded to her waifu.
Their expression of love for each other takes an extreme form under dysfunctional circumstances (the extreme, coerced conformity of Japanese institutional environments) but the interplay between them is very healthy.

Did they really just fuck on the stairs?

Lol right it must have been hella uncomfortable.

Mangaka must've watched the sex scenes in "The Room."

So that's what manipulative Borderline looks like! A lot more Machiavellian than I would have imagined. I suspect the author has firsthand experience with someone with BPD.

It really isn't. Everyone I've known with bpd doing these same actions would have had entirely different motivations and justifications for them. Things like "well I HAD to cheat for this or that reason, I just couldn't stop myself". Basically bpd tends to be a lot of "I'm a tragic victim" switching back and forth with "I'm a horrible monster" with very little room for "wow look how good I am at manipulating people, yay me".

But that could be classic projective identification. She's projecting gullibility or is deliberately associating with a person with similar traits to herself. She could be borderline still, but such projection could put her in the Histrionic category instead.

Straight...surrreeee lol. I hope this continues but I saw that fin in the end so who knows

Bisexual women have always been the epitome of capricious change, IMHO. And they're much better at concealing their preferences than regular lesbians, simply because they can attract unwanted harassment from both sexes.

Having seen Chapter 9 on Danbooru, I am really looking forward to this thread's reaction to it. smiles mysteriously

"Immortal WiFi"?

Waai fai but po! ("The wifi is unbreakable".)

The mangaka is a fan of HK too? And Cantonese memes?

"cook them something special as revenge" seems a rather odd word choice, compared to 'payback' or 'payment'. https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/the_two_of_them_are_pretty_much_like_this_ch18#3

And what's with "find grass and eat that"?

I think it's a double reference:

1) Unmarried older bachelors of both genders are referred to as "grass eaters" (literally "herbivores")

2) Convenience store bentos (the kind bachelors would eat) come packed with fake, plastic grass.

Miho is basically asking Wako why she would waste so much time and energy on her seeming roommate, being in the dark about their actual relationship.

Too short! This is like a commercial.

Then a pink bunny girl beating a drum crosses the front screen to interrupt the action: "The Energizer Yuri.... keeps going.... and going...."

AIUI Japan is oddly specific: buying "penis in vagina" sex is illegal. All other acts are okay. And in a "pre-existing relationship" even transferring money for PIV may be legal. OTOH the local age of consent is probably 18, so big problem there.

Actually the law changed in 2015, after decades of lobbying by rape victim advocates. Any act of nonconsensual penetration is now illegal.

Helichrysum Orientale AKA the Immortelle or the Everlasting Flower. In flower language it symbolizes everlasting or eternal love.

I also can't get over the breast sizes. It just feels exaggerated, and not at all how breasts even work. It feels out of place in this manga, as if the author is trying to use sex appeal to bring in readers...

In other words, it's an Ogino Jun manga. That's their fetish.

Seeing a lot of good comparisons to other things here: AoT (friend crushed like Eren's mother, fighting giant humanoids while flying through the air with blades), Pacific Rim (two people required to fight kaiju), and Bleach (people with supernatural abilities tasked with defeating otherworldly beings in order to save humanity). I like the idea of combining those elements and it sounds even better if you add some yuri to it. Despite my misgivings about chapter 1 I really do have high hopes for this series.

With a few things from Bokurano (fighting a parallel world, with fatal consequences)

Or could it be that Kon is the monster, sort of. Don't the protagonist getting rejected by peoples because of a monster linked to them remind you of someone ? Yeah, it's almost like Naruto with Kyuubey being scelled in him. Maybe it's the same with Kon, the monster has been scelled in her. That explain why they got saved in the first chapter, why peoples don't seem to like Kon. Her little bro also said she see a Kaijuu back then. Also that could explain why bully girl got yeeted.

Or she went home because her parents would have become worried and gone searching for her, and if they found her in a naked embrace with Furuka, it would have been reeaally awkward. Let's stay grounded here, folks. This community is insular and very conservative, and Kon is already considered an oddball. The last thing she would want is for Furuka to get in trouble, as there would only be negative consequences if their affair gets out.

I have yet to see an interesting take on that succubus theme

Well they've been run through the same cultural mesh as vampires, elves, zombies etc.... They no longer possess the dreadful, existential danger that made them so fearsome, having been transformed into cosplaying sexpot cheerleaders.

The original succubus/incubus didn't have horns or a tail, but they were futanari with prodigious telepathic abilities, that would seduce members of both sexes by mentally projecting an image of a loved one, and could impregnate or be impregnated. They would fiercely protect the children ("cambion") born of these unions, even committing infanticide against their human half-siblings to ensure they received all subsequent love and attention.

The original succubus is Lilith, better known as the Second Angel of Evangelion. According to the Jewish Kabbalah, Adam and Lilith were originally a non binary couple formed by God at the same time, but Lilith was expelled from Eden for defying His will: basically God wanted her to be Adam's bottom while Lilith was an incorrigible top (I am not making this up). She later became associated with three other Succubi as seducer/He-Satan/sacred prostitutes, and with the archangel Samael. (Samael was God's butt boy. He planted the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden, "rode the serpent" thar enticed Eve into consuming the forbidden fruit, and is the reputed father of Cain by Eve.)

The nickname that Riko gives Sae- "Koeda"- literally means "Twig". Its a pun on Sae's kanji: "Little Branch".

Riko is written in Katakana, but if you use the kanji antecedents of her characters, her name would mean "selfishness" or "self interest".

DID SOMEONE JUST REVIVE THIS SERIES?

No. You're seeing light in your peripheral vision that was reflected at a weird angle through a stain glass window while suffering from low blood sugar. We've all been there.

This just keeps getting wackier and wackier. I ain't complaining though

Asagi Ryu's artwork is professionally done. But his story plots look as if they were written by a meth head ghostwriter.

As an American immersed like a fish in my own culture, I have no inkling of how much of that culture leaks out into the global media sphere (amplified by the Internet). Still it's very surprising to see this:
