^^ Erika is in a difficult position. She has sorta taken Hebimori under her wing recently and she's probably hesitant to just crush her self esteem, while at the same time Komichi is her closest friend (and secret crush, let's be real here). I don't think it's a triangle situation or anything like that, she just wasn't expecting the situation to turn out like that and she's a bit dumbfounded.

It's pretty hard not to read this chapter with yuri goggles firmly on XP It sure feels like a lot of romantic feelings are there and not in a very subtext way.

Protecting the princess is her job afterall, she's just making sure everything is taken care of ;)

The way I read it, his sadness is more of a '' I have a hard time connecting with my much younger wife and her silly attitude'' thing. We know he got quite demeaning towards her later in their marriage, telling her to act her age and all that. I could be getting it completely wrong, obviously.

I 100% forgot that random bulky guy was on the wedding picture. This does change my perception of the whole chapter a bit, although I still expect a '' should Mei marry this guy'' arc that will very much irritate me. I could be wrong though, I really hope Sabu will go a more interesting route.

I’m glad we’re going back to the whole Mei becoming chairwoman and changing the system plot established all the way back in Vol 1. That whole board meeting is still one of my favorite chapters and hopefully it means we’ll be seeing badass take-no-shit queen Mei again.

Why are we being introduced to some random childhood friend guy at this late point in the story ?? With an obviously, perfunctory ''you shold totally marry him in order to save the school Mei '' subplot to boot ? AGAIN ? Haven't we been through this already ? I swear to god, Saburouta will do anything but write about Yuzu and Mei at this point (^^) This is getting dangerously close to fanfic level writing.

Nadeshiko finding her own worth by deciding that she only truly loves one person and isn't just a sex toy is a textbook character arc, it pretty much writes itself. I could be wrong, but I just don't see the author deviating from it much.
