This got worse the further it got.

Just so you guys know, the author recently did an interview about this series. They posted about it today.

There was a discussion on it in the Discord server yesterday, one line in particular drew attention. The author said she would not call this manga "yuri", stating it is more a story about "affection/ friendship between girls". That said, there was some debate on whether she was talking about the story as a whole (including the parts not yet written) or if was she simply referring to the story so far and was expressing doubt as to where she would take it eventually.

I think the author said they wouldn’t put their work (this manga in specific) in the yuri box but they like working with the theme of women and women’s love. Not calling your work yuri doesn’t mean you won’t call it women’s love… I think. But yeah, maybe Aya and Mitsuki might end up as just being friends and that wouldn’t make the message of the story of them bonding over music any less wholesome.

Going by Google translate in that interview, i noticed the word Sexuality was used so i wonder if her reluctance to call it yuri is related to that.

I was hoping for a follow-up to the latest chapter (ch9) where Aya mentions school Mitsuki and work Mitsuki’s similarities. But it seems like they just brushed it off… Hope we get some commentary on Mitsuki’s part, like an introspection and her going “I had a chance to clear out the misunderstanding but I got nervous”.

Yeah it felt like a bit of a weird transition between chapters, doesn't flow nicely. That's my only criticism, i love the androgyny we get to see here.

Ps The Bends is still the best Radiohead album.

People were talking about her voice, but honestly I think the reality is that Mitsuki doesn't talk enough to Aya at school for Aya to really have evidence to piece together "hey, record shop boy sounds a lot like that girl from my class."

The way I see it, we needn't analyze too deeply. It's like debating why doesn't Lois Lane ever realize that Superman sounds just like Clark Kent.

Batman at least makes the effort to speak in a raspy voice very diff from Bruce Wayne's.
Maybe Mitsuki changes her voice too.

Actually now that you mention it, i can't look at the that dynamic between Lois and Superman the same way again.

Also, all the talk we had about visual cues, but what about Mitsuki's voice? Does she alter her voice when she is working? Why would Aya not recognise the voice?

That's what ive been wondering too. Even though the mask might muffle her voice a bit in public and she might sound a little different on the phone, there would still be some level of familiarity at least.

At this point I am betting that the reason the voice is ignored is because Aya really wants to believe it ain't a girl.

^ I think the author is literally showing Aya slowly figuring things out with the side by side comparisons. I don't think it's going to go down the "brother" route.

Peelable nail polish exists and apparently some say they're better for your nails.

I think she's going to figure it out sometime soon.

Also i love the little AC/DC and Rolling Stones posters, she's definitely what I'd call an overall alt girl.

^ Aya’s mom yelled her name just before Mitsuki said it. There’s no reason for Aya to doubt that that’s how Mitsuki learned it, even if she did already know it from school.

Plus Mitsuki mentions Ayas mum straight after that.

Sorry, just managed to get to get back my original account on here, luckily they have similar user names so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out who is replying ;)
Sepultura is very well known and i like their albums from the 90's and Iron Maiden is always a classic and very influential in the Japanese Metal scene as you can probably tell.

I'm glad they changed the uncle's character design to what it is now, let's you see who might be influential in Mitsuki's life. As much as this is a story about the two girls i hope he is a regular character.

It's been a long wait but it's great to see this progress lately.

Sometimes reading this thread is like being a war Vet suffering from flashbacks or having senses of deja vue.

The moral of the story is that people are different, have different ways of showing love and we should aknowlege these difference because that is what the real world is like.
