I know very few yuri series whose writing stand out , but that's because most yuri are cute and fluffy, nothing wrong with that. I enjoy some cuteness on yuri but I agree that something different would be the ideal thing

I'm not even a fan of this series but I don't understand why many people call it generic. Aren't most romance stories full of cliches and predictable? This is no exception...

I certainly hope we're not in the last arc of the series, but it does feel like we're near the end of the story.

I don't think Touko's situation will be resolved easily, it would feel too rushed. Plus Yuu hasn't realised her feelings yet , so I'm sure these things are gonna take some time. Anyway, I really do hope that if they become a couple, we'll see what happens after that, I mean dating and stuff. I don't want this manga to end soon because I like it a lot :(

Edit: I forgot about Sayaka, I don't think the series will end without some resolution for her as well.

It will become one of the most successful yuri manga soon I'm sure. I mean there are only three volumes so far. Hopefully we'll get anime if it continues this way :D

is there any yuri work that is considered a masterpiece of the gender (or pretty good) by everyone or at least a big part of the yuri fandom? Every yuri fan seems to disagree so much... other anime genres have their masterpieces to say.

So how will Sayaka react to this? She's pretty classy and polite but also very possesive of Touko. She even knows about all the times someone confessed to her lol

What was up with the way Yuu was watching her during the race? Did Touko throw the race or am I missing some other meaning?

I saw it more like at some point she forgot about everything around her and started staring at Touko so much she didn't realise the race was over until Akari told her to.

Recycling settings and/or stories is something that is present on every form of media regardless the genre. For me, what makes a story standout is the sum of its parts: the characterization, the dynamics, the setting, the plot, the art/acting/voice acting, animation and more.

Of course it would be nice to have authors willing to take risks and try new things but at the same time I won't hold up against them if they're trying to find a place in an increasingly difficult market, making a manga is a job after all.

That said, I don't know why people continues to rag on Citrus as if Saburota would've lied to them about the nature of this series. From page one it was clear what kind of story was this meant to be and if you don't like it then, why continue to waste effort and getting upset about it now?

I'm also not counting valkyrie drive mermaid. i didn't watch it because it looked like a male-gaze fanservice nightmare

I honestly find pretty contradictory the way you claim to want more yuri that goes beyond the regular norms of the genre when you're so quick to dismiss something that did exactly that simply because it didn't fit your preconceptions about what an innovative yuri had to be.

VDM is not perfect by any means but is pretty earnest on what it is and what it wants to do and does't shy away from the yuri elements, making it a pretty memorable experience whether your liked it or not.

Anyways, the ghost chapter was a great read. I will never get tired of Mei deadpanning all of Yuzu's antics.

The only clear thing about Citrus is that it's a yuri manga about pseudo sisters falling in love. The development of their relationship and the story could have taken many ways, but instead fell in cliches and forced drama that repeats the same formula. You can't blame people who had some expectations about Citrus and ended up disappointed. That said, people shouldn't have high expectations when it comes to yuri. Anyways, this is a free space, if people want to complain it's fine.
btw, what kind of yuri mangas do the people who criticise Citrus and LL read? I'm curious about it for some reason.

That's the problem with bad translations :/ She never said that in chapter 3 , she said "let me continue to love you", this page had a discussion about it months ago. It's kinda annoying because people who read this and don't know about the mistake can't understand Touko's real wish, so they think there's either a plot hole or that Touko is pursuing Yuu like any other regular girl with a crush

Damn, how can people dare to compare this shit with GF. I can agree that yeah, GF is overrrated, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It's a good story. LL and Citrus are the same trash though. Both have terribly forced drama. Citrus doesn't have characters, just antagonists that are used to break Yuzu and Mei apart and at the end of the day make them closer. The teacher, the gramps, the dad, the girl with the huge eyebrows, Matsuri, the sisters, Harumi's sister , the student council election and now Yuzu's homophobic friends. It repeats the same formula "introduce a character, make them cause some shit, resolve the problem , forget about the character". It was tolerable maybe until chapter 8, then Matsuri and the sisters made me realise that crappy formula. I dropped it many chapters ago, I still find reviews in facebook though.
LL has Ploy, Ploy's ex boyfriend , the father , the trip to another country... anyways, I find both series poorly written and boring for other reasons as well. Objectively speaking, they really lack quality.
However, people are free to like whatever they want. If they love this series or LL, let them be. Yuri series are so limited people sometimes stick to what they have or know. I still remember when I liked Strawberry Panic years ago lol. The only thing that enrages me is the fact that Citrus has a big fandom, while other amazing yuri mangas are totally unknown by most people.

Good chapter. Not as good as people were making it out to be. Or maybe i'm just too dull in catching expression without narration.

Anyways, hope we will get more into relationship rather than stalling.

Same. It's emotionally tense and sure as hell alludes to some serious future developments, but there's nothing terribly climactic going on in this chapter, specifically. I'll wait for the drama bomb to actually be dropped before I act all blown away.

I'm kinda surprised many yuri fans enjoy drama a lot. I don't dislike it, but I'm not a big fan of it either. Maybe because drama in yuri tends to be really forced and cliches. Like it's either cheating, a psycho ex, a stalker, an annoying friend , a love triangle, hetero or angst about being lesbians. That's why I dislike series like Citrus , NTR and Pulse. I don't mean to say this cliches are always bad, it's just most of the time they are poorly written.
Anyway, I'm not against drama in this series, I would enjoy it, I just hope it actually makes sense rather than being forced, even if it has a cliche, as long as it's well written, is fine for me

There's a lot of think about, a lot of panels without narration actually, just expressions from Yuu. I wonder if the starting shot is a metaphor for the heartbeat at the end. I wonder if it could be her own.

Pretty sure it is a metaphor. In the cover , she is covering her ears , which I think it represents her being either oblivious or in deep denial about her feelings (she doesn't notice the heartbeats are hers) . Also, Touko has her hands over hers, because she actually doesn't want Yuu to fall in love with her and Yuu is aware of it. Even the title of the chapter suggests that Yuu is oblivious af.
And this chapter, fuck , after this no one can say Yuu doesn't have romantic feelings towards Touko. I don't mean she is completely in love with her , not yet, but there's definitely something there.
