honestly like this sort of angst is fairly typical and i think that's why i hate it? like age gap navigating of a relationship like this had where the older partner is trying to be good and the younger partner isn't characterized as like really eager to make out and have sex despite being like 9 is stuff that's really interesting. "third party sabotages relationship by lying to one of the members of that relationship" in contrast isn't anything new. at least not unique enough to be worth the time its taking up

I'd expect a dumb/shy kid to go along with it without saying a thing, but Kaede is supposed to be both smart and mature.

My story idea is NEET living by her own thanks to financial support from parents is only checked on by her younger stepsister, who is like 14. Stepsister one day tells NEET that their parents want her to move back home after her lease is up cuz they don't want to keep paying rent on her apartment. During the ensuing bout of depression, stepsister tries to comfort NEET, and NEET kisses her. Stepsister accepts her sister's feelings and reciprocates and they decide to do what they can together before NEET moves back home, since it'll be harder to hide the relationship. So they go on a couple dates and have a really good time. One day, as the deadline draws near, NEET sleeps with her stepsister. A few days later, stepsister gets sat down by her parents and her parents tell her that NEET committed suicide. NEET left a note for her apologizing for the relationship and for sleeping with her, saying she knows it makes her a horrible person, even if stepsister doesn't see her that way yet. Thanks stepsister for making the last bit of her life a little happier.

The end is grown up stepsister leaving flowers at NEETs grave, thinking about how she knows NEET wasn't a good person, but she loved her anyway and still misses her.

i hate that there has to be some externally introduced conflict. i want to see their relationship progress and how they deal with each hurdle as it comes up. i dont wanna see "mimika broke a little girl's heart because she just took some stranger at her word"

the reason its acceptable is because in fiction its fuckin harmless, generally speaking

people deserve to have outlets for this stuff. even the stuff you think is gross. plus incest fantasies dont even equate to wanting to do anything with actual siblings.

like as much as media can influence culture and society, i dont really think stories about sisters crushing on eachother that are honest about the fact that they're indulging in a romantic or sexual fantasy are that harmful. hell stuff like that can even be helpful for victims of abuse.

prediction: something happened between kaoru and uta's mom, and everyone blames uta's mom, kaoru is currently trying to pursue a "normal happiness" and the reason she feels guilt is either cuz she didnt reject what happened or didnt dislike it. after being married although she has found something for herself in crafting she's realizing that forcing herself into that role doesn't mean it makes her happy or feels right. kaoru and uta's brother will end up getting a divorce, and uta and kaoru will end up together.
