I liked Yashiro in Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko, but she's out of place here. There are more elegant ways to slow down relationship progression

Yeah, the implication is that magic is gone. Science is more likely here, especially with the bullshit it pulls off in the series

There's some neat ideas in here, but it's not executed well. On a plot level the fantastical elements feel very disconnected from the rest of it. More technically, the composition isn't great; feels like the artist is trying to emulate an anime without understanding the limits of manga

Wait, are they actual Roma living in the actual 20s, or is this some random setting that uses "gypsy" to mean "nomad"?

Anyway, it has some interesting bits, but between the speed it moves at and some iffy composition I'm finding it somewhat hard to follow at times. Probably give it another chapter to see if it improves, but it's not something I'll be looking forward to

Interesting main relationship; exes aren't common, especially in high school settings. Curious about what's going on with the supporting cast, though: Sensei got too much focus and too distinct a design to not show up again, while senpai's backstory makes her sound important, but she got little focus

The Aaaaaangst tag isn't wrong, per se, but does kinda misrepresent what's been mostly fluff so far

So I apparently forgot Sarazanmai was previously announced as an Ikuhara show, but it exists and you should watch it. The focus is on BL rather than yuri this time around but that blemish honestly pales in the face of sheer entertainment value; given the yuri drought this season, do yourselves a favour and check it out.

It's pretty openly about desires that society disapproves of in general, rather than BL in specific. Not that I don't expect male homosexuality to show up (looking at you, Enta). But, yes, it's easily the best anime currently airing

Romance always mean het romance, because that's the default. If it was yuri, it would be tagged as shoujo ai/yuri. So I wouldn't expect anything from it. In fact since it's tagged as romance, there will be het in it.

As has been noted, it's anime original and the tags don't mean anything. Thus far the leads' relationship has been pretty cutesy and it wouldn't be a huge surprise it ends up romantic. ...Though, given the quality of the first episode's writing, even if we do get yuri it won't be very good

Speaking of original anime that might turn out yuri, Fairy Gone's emotional core looks like it'll be the relationship between two girls

So, cute series, with a charming sort of fairytale tone. Not brilliant, but I enjoyed it

Okay, yuri in stuff I watched:

Boogiepop: If you're familiar with abnormal psychology it's pretty obvious that the Fear Ghoul is a lesbian or lesbian-leaning bisexual. ...She's also a worse person than that title makes her sound. And the last arc includes a girl who doesn't give a shit about her notional boyfriend and is instead incredibly hung up on another girl and then another girl by the end. You should watch the show for it being weird and dark and not this stuff, but I feel like it's worth mentioning

Egao no Daika: Lily is a) named Lily, b) really fond of Stella ,and c) appears to be living with her in the epilogue. This gets negligible focus, but it's there

Asuka: Entire cast is lesbian perverts. You're better off reading the manga then watching the anime, though (or doing neither if you don't like trash)

Endro: Couple yuri crushes, and a pair that's basically married by the end. Fun little series

Manaria Friends: I think this one's been discussed enough

Kemono Friends: Not as many viable pairs as the first season (because it's way less formulaic), but there's still a few, and Pronghorn and Cheetah feel like they were intended for the yuri fandom

Huh, never heard of imbe before. Moving on, it's a good thing this is tbc, 'cause it's not very satisfying, and the april fool's joke isn't funny

I'm gonna say that I find all the disappointment around Manaria Friends kinda overblown? Yeah, it wasn't a good ending, but it wasn't "and then they never met again", either. It wasn't what I'd have liked, but it didn't exactly ruin the series for me

Anything interesting to look forward to in the spring season?

There's Hitoribocchi no OO Seikatsu and probably Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine. Might get something out of Carole & Tuesday, but I wouldn't hold my breath. ...It's not a large season
