It's no less comical - not to mention tragically narrow-minded - for being caught up in tired narrative clichés.

But that's why this one-shot works. You can only "twist" a plot if the readers have certain expectations. Since we expect the PoV character to succeed, having her love interest hook up with someone else is a plot twist to that. One that would not be possible without having those expectations first.

Meeting Hime in her "adult" outfit would have killed Kusanagi. She came close to death and doesn't even realize how lucky she is.

Regarding this whole Miyuki thing... It's not gonna be my hill to die on if Asuka's romantic feelings for her mother are never requited. I just wish Miyuki hadn't just randomly showed up out of nowhere.

She at least had more foreshadowing than the aunt.

I also suspect that it'll ultimately be dealt with in the same with as her; she'll just get rejected (this time). It's so far been one of those series that like teasing drama and only for it to immediately be solved in the next chapter.

Maou is definitely going for some sort of harem end.

It's not bad, but the "I'm not good enough for her" development is such a tiresome trope ...

Literally any romance story ever is about "getting the girl" (or guy). You are virtually indoctrinated to expect the point of view character to get their love interest and to "only" regard this as a "good end". It doesn't matter that it might mean a "bad end" for secondary characters, whether the characters really make sense together, what other consequences there might be - only this matters.

I find the reaction unsurprising. ^^

Naw, she knew her from the start so she exists as a girl in their world too. Unless there's a convoluted twist to this; you never know with manga. But I doubt it.

One one hand, this is ... something.

On the other, even as a spoof, it reminds me of the all that ecchi trash everything suffers from. dunno. So far it just seems to play it too straight - the protagonist is equally oblivious, equally "lucky", the girls equally non-people with unreasonable romantic attachment ... hum.

I'd like it to have more of a twist to it than just switching some genders involved.

Clearly the yuri-world one actually wanted a boyfriend, and the normal-world one wants a girlfriend (she just doesn't know yet). So they were somehow switched and now both get to be happy.

Worst end: actually, they both want a boyfriend, so when normal-world one returns to her world she'll do a threesome polything with her clone from this world; together with their boyfriend
