I just finished reading Nickelodeon for the umpteenth time and I noticed Oddman 4 (the collector) was originally from one of the stories there. I'm wondering now how many references there are to Dowman Sayman's other work in Oddman 11. I never finished the Voynich Hotel, and haven't read any of Sexual Instinct and the Hydrogen Bomb War so this is a great excuse to do so.

Also I'd like to restate how happy it makes me that his author page itself is tagged with What The Fuck Am I Reading.

just to be clear im not saying the manga is bad by any meas or that i have a problem with it, i just find weird and kind of lazy that the 3 year of high school pass in 40 chapters compared to stuff like yuru yuri that´s 100+ chapter and the girls are still in the same year (maybe im wrong it´s been a while since i read yuru yuri feel fre to correct)

In what world is 40 chapters lazy?
K-on did three years in 4 volumes with a total of 56 chapters, then it moved on to college.
A Room For Two has done three years in 4 volumes with a total of 40 chapters + 5 bonus chapters.
These two series are very similar, and it would be difficult to find someone who thinks K-on was "lazy" because there weren't 100+ chapters.

If we could decide if something is lazy or poorly made by looking at its size, I would actually insist that Yuru Yuri's author isn't trying very hard if that many chapters have passed without any significant changes. But that's not how things work. The quantity of a work isn't proportional to its quality. It can only have a subjective impact on someone's opinion.

Family Circus debuted in 1960, and is still going and nobody in it has changed. That comic is probably older than 99% of the people on this site. Is that a good thing? Bad?
Look at Garfield. Is Garfield still funny to this day? I don't think it is, but certainly there are other people who look forward to the sunday paper every week because of it.
Now look at Calvin and Hobbes. It had a good long run and now it's done. Would it be better if it had continued? (...Bill Watterson's wishes not withstanding that is...) Well... that isn't for me to say, right? I think that it ended perfectly. My brother even has a framed print of its final page that I am extremely jealous of. But there are people who want it to return in some way. There's even some really impressive fan comics out there, like one about an adult Calvin and Suzy's daughter, and they're pretty darn good.

(btw I have absolutely no hate for Namori, she's an incredibly skilled mangaka and I have a lot of admiration and respect for her. I actually really like a lot of the characters in YuruYuri, the manga just doesn't appeal to me.)

You could probably do some pretty fun things with page 8's speech bubbles.

I'm reminded of this Touhou fanfic where Renko and Merry become YouTubers to try and make money but their videos are just of them standing in a field talking for three hours.

I agree to an extent. Most yuri I find on here (and other places) the couple is femme/femme. And really, same with most lesbians in movies, tv, etc etc.

I feel like manga and especially anime are particularly guilty of a hyper-focus on femininity in both romantic and non-romantic scenarios. "Cute girls doing cute things" didn't become a... "thing" for no reason.

Like even when there is a character that's not feminine, she often has an arc about her insecurity over being "boyish" or "not cute", often resolved by assurance that even if she isn't girly in the same ways as her friends, she's just as cute!~ As opposed to sometimes accepting that maybe she really isn't the same, and that's okay.

Nah I think it's best this way. The very slightly diagonal bubbles must be kind of a pain though, huh? I assume the original was handwritten too. And uh, it being written in a completely different direction than it would be in english makes it a bit harder too I guess...
