Well, in chapter 6, Anzu shows her true colors AND proves that she doesn't understand Akira at ALL, since she asked her to be her "BOYFRIEND" and not her "GIRLFRIEND". Hopefully Akira will NOT accept her offer and will figure out the real reason Hime has been freaking out and help her get over her "but we're both girls" issues.

Hime isn't just having the two girls issue. She's in a more serious trouble, as she does not want to be a bi/homosexual, but she is. Instead of just coming to accept that it's ok for two girls to be in love and want to be in a relationship, she has to make it ok for herself to be that way as well.

Ironically, manga tends not to give a damn about the whole "representation and identity" crap western media likes to put on a pedestal.

This isn't because the authors are insert-phobic or whatever. It's more that while western portrayals pander the hell out of the whole victimhood and "diversity" aspect of it and politicize it to hell and back, Japanese ones would rather just have a good character. That and you try to tell them there's more than 2 genders and to use people's preferred pronouns and it'll go way over their heads. They haven't and don't need to be exposed to that kind of shitfest.

Seriously, what's wrong with creating series with good characters AND representation?

I dont see Hime as trans but more as her trying to stand up for Akira. I think the story is gonna be about Hime's personal growth and understanding Akira more because so far she's pretty much been acting on what she believes is good for Akira, but doesn't really know what Akira wants herself. So I think the main theme of the story is gonna be about what Hime's reason for wearing the male uniform is.

That being said I kinda hope Hime doesnt come out as trans as well since I think itll detract from her growth as Akira's friend and from Akira's story as transgender. I mean I guess it depends on how they handle it if Hime did come out as trans. For how the story is going so far, I dont think it would make for as strong of a story since right now it feels like a story about being an ally for transgenders.

It's interesting to see some differences in wording.

I think I prefer the 4s version. Granted I don't know Japanese and so can't compare them to the raws, but 4s's version felt more natural versus some of the kuso version felt like it was translated literally so it was awkward sounding.

I also didn't like how kuso translated Sayaka's explanation as "I suppose I can only have faith that you would continue being the person I love" feels a bit vague and kinda conflicting. Like it threw me off because I read it with the meaning of "I hope the person I love doesnt change" lmao.

With 4s's trans (even though I do think some of the wording is a bit convoluted) I think it's clearer how Sayaka is talking about the qualities of the person you love and is what you hope will stay the same even if the person changes.

Edit: okay rereading them again (and blastaar's comment below) I can now see what Sayaka means by "being the person I love" as in "being the person she is still in love with regardless of the changes" and not "being the person who I first fell in love with". I think I still prefer 4s'version, but I understand kuso's version more now.

Mmmm but the end heavily implied the producer had a crush on Sakura when she was alive so I can see that being the canon relationship if they continue the series

I still highly rec the series though even if there's no yuri.
