Sun and Moon was a huge blessing for Pokemon yuri fans. So glad to see this going. Not even Hikari (Dawn) and Shirona were this popular.

So how realistic will this thing be? She's proven she can't dodge Aki forever (her only skill) and Aki's the best at ground work in the whole gym. So if she is indeed "in a match with" Aki "in eight days," realistically, she'll get her little hamster ass beat again.

Maybe it's a kickboxing match. Hana will pull the upset that McGregor couldn't, and knock Aki out with a straight left from hell.

Aki is the kind of person who would heel hook white belts. What a pain. That crucifix position require incredibly long limbs for there to be a clean blood choke. Most of the time, it just turns into a neck crank/trachea crush, which is an absolute asshole move to pull on first week white belts. On the other hand, this is why people should learn to tap with their feet too.

Aki is everything I hate about the sport, in BJJ and MMA. The idea that one has to earn their skill going through pain and more pain, and if they can't take it then they're simply not good enough. Getting hurt during rolling has got to be one of the stupidest ways to injure yourself, and hurting people who are less skilled than you during rolling is the stupidest thing one could do to make yourself feel better.

On another note, Hana has better sprawl reflexes than I do. It's hard to teach a proper shot and it's hard to teach a proper sprawl in BJJ, because it's not the focus of the roll. It seems that Hana was just inexperienced and lost her balance on the sprawl, but sometimes against a hard shot one just have to sprawl that hard. Because some shots come fast, especially in the US where every college-age grappler has about 4 years of wrestling experience. Seeing Hana sprawl that hard is almost beautiful. I don't think I've ever seen a white belt with no prior martial arts experience show such great sprawl senses, but I guess that's why this is a manga.

I actually watched Loveless a long time ago, and it was surprisingly good.

Hanaka-chan need to eat much more. With her current height and weight, her dodging instincts will only delay the inevitable defeat when the opponent manages to finally land a hit or a grab.

I don't think that's true. More muscle helps one take a hit better in some areas (like the legs) but the most vulnerable targets such as the head and neck do not get more resilient with weight. And at the lower weight classes one's opponent is going to be hitting lighter too. So as long as Hana trains her body to react to the hits, she doesn't need more weight.

On another note a long time ago I was shown the reverse Seoi Nage, which turns into the lapel rather than the shoulder. I've never used it because it seems like such an awkward technique, but now I'm inspired after seeing Aki do it.

Turning the thumb up on the lead hook is also how I was taught. But in MMA the range of engagements are much longer than boxing. Sometimes, you just got to turn the thumb in to deliver that long distance hook. Especially after a straight punch in a combo, as the straight puts enough distance between you and the opponent that a textbook hook sometimes cannot reach.

That's the Seija I love! Forever the bad guy. Shinmyoumaru is so endearing as always. This is the Touhou version of the delinquent x nice girl pairing, so it's always nice.

Awwwww yeah! MMA manga with yuri undertones? Could this get any better? The great thing about reading MMA it seems is that the ground action progresses as fast as the striking. I can get used to this.

Now we've seen a kickboxing type striker (the typical good southpaw with a demon left leg), and a leg locker who uses the Imanari Roll. I wonder what other kind of techniques we'll see. There has yet to be any mention of styles outside of the discussion of strikers vs. grapplers. This worries me because I want to see so many different things beyond these broad distinctions. I'm tired of the typical fighter: a brawler with decent a left hook, double leg, thai clinch, and a workable ground game (Which sadly, is what the main character seems to be). Give me more! More! Still, with the way things are going now, it's not a big deal.

Why is a toe hold called an ankle hold? An ankle lock and a toe hold are different things. The toe hold and heel hook attacks the knee joint. An ankle hold attacks the ankle. Is that a translation error?

It's amazing how accurate the transitions are portrayed. Imanari roll to inside ashi to heel hook to toe hold finish. And the reason Shinobu had to transition from heel hook to toe hold was because her opponent was defending correctly by rolling with the torque on the heel! This manga is pretty good.

Sand Cat always has such an adorable expression. I just realized I might have a fondness for blank-expression cat characters.

Lawful wife vs. Mother of the prince's child. This could get a lot worse if it wasn't Touhou. Fortunately, this is Touhou, so everyone gets along.

My favorite master x servant pairing. Koakuma is diligent and devoted but mischievous. She's a devil but so kind and cute. It's criminal to not ship her with Patchouli.

Kemono Friends is such a great series because of the abundance of fluffy yuri (pun intended).
