Hm, it's true that a gangster family would have a black limo. But wouldn't a princess (either a figurative or literal one) also have bodyguards? Her family are cool with her skipping after school activities and sleeping with her girlfriend as long as they have a chaperone (ie wing-mom, who is actually the complete opposite of a chaperone. But they didn't know that).

Part of me is afraid it'll just turn out her parents own a company or something. That will help ensure financial stability for her and her future wife, but it's not hardboiled. I'd take the "adopted by sentient cars" backstory over that.
