Yeah when I found out the one was a cat, it explained everything.

x2!! Or 3.. or whatever. Just some authors I can never tire of, no matter how many times I reread their oneshots or series. Otsu Hiyori is probably my all time favorite. (I didn't realize this until I compiled my favorites and classics lists. She makes up most of them lol.)

What's happened with this series?? I've noticed a few updates from her (the author) but nothing here...??

Lililicious takes its time with releases.

Oh, I thought it may have been put on hiatus or something. Nothing meant against Lililicious.

That's pretty cool. I exchanged a few emails with the author of the science fiction book series, The Lost Fleet. I think it's awesome when authors interact with their fans on a personal level.

@Kitsune - What did you ask her? If I may ask.

This series is depressing?? O_o... I haven't felt depressed once. Maybe I ought to read it from the start again but... never felt sad or depressed over anything.

Holy crap the eyes were open the whole time in Ch.00. Weird but I like the art.

Yuri is a common Japanese name. How would you like it if someone said your name was "overused and boring"?

It is?? O.o

In relation to being used in the Yuri genre?? This just doesn't strike you as boring and overused?

Go through my lists and also look for other works by those authors as well.

I find it odd that Yuri is a name and also a term for lesbians... Don't things get confusing sometimes? Or is it not used so much? Or is it not used how I think it is?

That's something that has always confused me as well and something I never quite understood. I just assumed it's a tongue-in-cheek jab at the genre. Other than that, I'd wish authors would try different names, it's so overused and boring lol.

Which reminds me. Does anyone know the name of a manga (takes place in high school like the rest of 'em) where a girl has been reading all the romance stories and fell for the author. Who ended up looking nothing like what she pictured the author would look like (nerdy, dorky, and she was also clumsy iirc). I want to say Morinaga Milk but it's not there after a quick search =(

http://dynasty-scans.com/series/renai_manga ???

I could look around if it is not Renai Manga (guessing it is not). I am very sure there is another, a one-shot, that fits your description... but my list is giant... It will take me a while to find it, I will enjoy looking around, usually end up re-reading stuff that i click to check, haha.

Will report back here when I find it... I actually re-read it a few days ago...

It actually is from Morinaga Milk and named "Real Love" (lililicious scanlated it), but I guess it is removed from the reader because it has been licensed. It was part of "Kisses, Sighs, and Cherry-Blossom Pink" (the same anthology that also contains the Nana & Hitomi stories).

It was by Morinaga! Doh! I was in the mood to reread that one :( Bummer. And Renai is a fun manga. Can't wait to see which way it goes.

Yes! A conversation about Sunstone here. I actually found this comic maybe three weeks ago and I couldn't stop reading until the last page. The intensity made me reel. The characters are so well developed, sometimes it was like looking at facets of myself, or of friends. Can't wait to get my hands on a hard copy whenever this gets published. Definitely worth getting.

I know right!? It's a really great read. The first time I came across it was when he was still just drawing the characters. I stopped visiting DA and a few years later I came back and viola!!! There was as story! I read that thing to the very end at the time. Sooo much great stuff in it. And I plan to get hard copies as well since the author does plan to release it sometime later this year (he has at least 2-3 other projects as well, one called Ravine which is pure awesome btw).

I love that last photo of Lisa and Ally btw, it's so playful. Ally can be such a goofball.

And it's juuust getting to the heavy stuff now. Ally totally burned Lisa in the latest release.

Aaaaaaaaand after a whole day reading the 3 chapters completed so far, I just wanna say:
GO GET MARRIED YOU TWO!!

Lol technically they are already married. Lisa is just recounting her history with Lisa together. It will be awesome to finally see who proposes to who though ;)

Originals:

Spicy Sweets by Natsuneko (from the Butterfly69 stories... We are not worthy of such art)
Secret Door by Pikachi
Bully by Sukoyaka
Teach Tea Songs by Urutsu Sahari
Listening To Your Voice, Your Heart by Urutsu Sahari
Wife and Wife by Minamoto Hisanari (one of the flirty-est mangas here)
Sweet Little Devil by Nanzaki Iku
First Love by Suga Atsushi
Concerto by Hattori Mitsuru (various stories here, mostly re-read Chapter 2)
Roommates by Tamamusi

I enjoyed quite a few of these. First Love is definitely one of my favorites as is the author in general.

Riding the coattails of Maria-sama ga Miteru - which I don't think gets enough credit these days for being the phenomenon that made the modern state of yuri possible - its publication marks the official beginning, on the manga side at least, of what I look back on as the Golden Age of Yuri, 2004-2009.

Maria did that?! (I'm not going to lie in saying I'm enjoying it immensely.) A lot more so than Strawberry... Panic was it?? O_o...

What was it the golden age of Yuri. I mean to say what came out of that time period yuri-wise??

I do like to go to the series page and go down the list alphabetically.
I like to do that too. But it's been a while since I last did that.

Which reminds me. Does anyone know the name of a manga (takes place in high school like the rest of 'em) where a girl has been reading all the romance stories and fell for the author. I spend a lot of time rereading old stories here. More often than not I find myself rereading various one shots, series, chapters, and anthologies (and even the occasional page or panel!). Sometimes I'll take my time reading works from a particular author or revisiting a set of stories because they remind me of me and my girlfriend, our earlier days together and even our current time together. Other times I want to read a good romance, see some of my favorite characters or moments repeat, see that favorite scene of mine, or read them so I can wish we were given a chance to see the rest of their lives play out together post high school (and even college for that matter). Of course there are times where I'm part way through a reread and all of a sudden I have the urge to reread other stories as well so I'll wind up with at least a dozen stories tabbed lol! XD

So I wonder from time-to-time, how often do other members come back and reread stories here? So I figured why not start a discussion where we can post which stories that have finished or been discontinued that we decided to reread.

Let me start off. This past week I've reread:

Notes from the Garden of Lilies by Suga Atsushi
Othello by Otsu Hiyori
Pure-Hearted Playgirl by Asatsuki Shinobu
Collectors Ch. 5 by Nishi Uko
A Knife Edge Girl by Furutsuji Kikka
Sweet Emotion by Asatsuki Shinobu
Sasameki Koto by Ikeda Takashi (Various parts of it anyway lol)

Not going to read 10 pages here so forgive me if it's been asked already but;

Has anyone tried any of the stretches described and demonstrated in the manga?

I'd like to see a Koi x Mayu doujin. Jussayin.

There really needs to be at least 2 spin-offs. Those two, and the brother and his now wife.

I wouldn't mind if this doesn't get any yuri, i haven't seen this kind of narration since ever
And of course the most important, stretching

x2. Don't understand why people are getting so fussy over a lack of yuri. I enjoy the story's development so far and figured it'd be a little slow if there was any development. Also always like the author's artwork and the way he does scenes and his characters. (Especially those side shots, dunno how he does it.)

Hope it's alright to post this here

An epic comic being published on Deviant Art. Never seen anyone mention it here as far as I can tell and the search didn't bring anything up. It's not anywhere close to the style of the stories released here but I know some of you would definitely love it. I know I do and I wanted to share. I've been following the comic for years now and it will be published in a physical format at some point but the author is still going to release it for free on DeviantArt.

It follows mostly, two women exploring their sexuality as they discover pretty intense feelings for each as they conduct a relationship based on BDSM. It's quite mature and doesn't make things "very over-the-top" (wink wink nudge nudge) like you would expect to see from some of the stories here. The relationship development is well done and the characters are very enjoyable, not to mention the art.

Several Cover-Like Pieces:

"Page 1" for your viewing pleasure:

All three chapters currently finished and in PDF format for those really interested.

Hope you all enjoy it as much as I do :)

Omg can we be friends? Sorry it's just the first time I've seen someone (besides my sister) say SAO was terrible even though it is so popular.

Of course we can. But you should know it's pretty well established in most circles of the internet that SAO awful.

Seriously?? Where have you heard this? Most people I run into say it was great. I haven't watched it yet myself because I missed it when it was released. I read up plot synopsis...es (SP???) and reviews and the stuff I read really turned me off. I suppose it's good to not watch it then?

How is it bad?

Read the first line of my comment again.

You went from sub-par to bad. Wanted to know why is all.

Also, Twilight was freaking terrible

Don't you think people who liked Twilight would say the same you're saying Citrus?

I never said Citrus was a good story but I never said it was terrible either. It's bad or sub-par at best (whichever definition you go by lol) but I read it for entertainment value. It's not going down as a "classic" by my standards but it's certainly a lot better than a fair number of stories I've come across here despite its flaws.

I dont think she's a friend, look at the picture on the phone in the last page, she's definitely younger than Yuzu.

Now that you say that, she could have been that, "cute underclassmen" type or something O_o... (Now when I look at the panel where she's talking about visiting Yuzu I have the Jaws theme playing in my head!)

Omg can we be friends? Sorry it's just the first time I've seen someone (besides my sister) say SAO was terrible even though it is so popular.

I don't like Attack on Titan, does that count as going against the trend??

Honestly I don't know why the hell I'm reading something as bad as this. Ok that's a lie, I do know why and it's because I just want to see the two hot characters make out and have a happy ending. The problem I have with Citrus, is the storytelling. There are good ideas and themes, but it's executed so poorly. The pacing is so whacked up that most of the time I end up finishing a chapter going "What the hell did I just read?" For example, the last two pages of chapter 8 came out of nowhere without any fade in or outs that I had to do a double take to make sure I was reading the same manga. I sorta thought it was a preview for another manga lol.

Anyway, I'm pretty ashamed that I look forward to this series, but what can I say? It's a guilty pleasure for me haha. In it for pretty shallow reasons...It's just a shame that the pacing could be better and I hope the mangaka tones down the sexual harassment to none at all. Sexual harassment does not all of a sudden become acceptable or sexy just because they're both girls. And we should not be "used to it" just because it's a common theme in manga. >_> 'side eyes some commenter who mentioned something along these lines in a previous comment'

Hear hear!

I said this in my first post of the thread (pg.7):

Also, this story reminds me of most shoujo stories. By that I mean when the main guy force kisses the main girl after doing some kidnap-like action where he tackles the girl in a private area after grabbing her when she least expects it. And out of all of that the girl somehow ends up liking the guy completely ignoring his actions.

But like you, I read it. And mostly to see how it turns out and not because it's a good, well written story ;)

Like I said. If you haven't figured it out for yourself at this point there's no convincing you otherwise.

Citrus is like the Twilight of yuri manga, it's bad but people like it anyway because it appeals to their sense of aesthetics. And they don't look past that.

How is it bad? Also, Twilight was freaking terrible. This isn't. I have my major doubts and dislikes about the story since it gives me a vibe similar to most shoujo stories but thankfully it seems to have been somewhat averted. Now with the kiss I'm back to square one, doubting the story much more than I was after the past couple chapters. Why, because I'm hoping it doesn't go down the, "do I like her, do I not?" path which is full of stupid comedic and frustrating moments. Right now, I'm hoping for some decent, down to earth character development. This story has that potential for that so I keep on reading and juuuust when it starts getting somewhere, the author throws in some weird angst-driven sexual moment that makes no sense to me. Yeah, it's bad but at least the characters aren't going, "OMGERDZ!!! I need a significant other to complete me!!? Huurrr deeeerrrrr."

Nice end to an enjoyable series, though it did get confusing somewhat with the flashbacks lol. I also liked the end where Kana called her ex to try and patch things up, seemed like a good way to cap the series.
