This discussion sure has taken a turn for the weird.

I won't speak about fictional characters, but, concerning real-life youngsters and children (a subject I have professional knowledge about) I must say something. The number of little George Washingtons who couldn't tell a convincing lie to save their lives is incredibly low. Most kids know how to tell a lie in a plausible and persuasive way. Whether they will or will not is another matter, but they do have the skill. As for the ability to fake crying and feign remorse, it's very common as well, especially among children with a stern religious upbringing, who learn those skills (which are, for them, well-nigh survival skills) very early in life. The idea that it takes a sociopathic master liar to tell a convincing lie to a trained adult (a teacher, a priest, a psychologist) simply isn't true. These worthies, in real life, are fooled all the time by the fibs of teenagers and children. It's a dangerous fallacy (especially if your job is to deal with kids) to have such confidence in your power of discernment as to believe that no little brat will ever be able to trick you with a well made-up story.

Again, this is about the real world, mkay? And doesn't apply in any way or manner to the fantastic universe of Super Nikaidou the woman of steel and her adorable sidekick Tadokoro the angel girl. Clear enough, I hope?

Confessing your love is scary.

There's a reason why, in manga, people are always telling their friends who are in love: "Gather your courage and confess!" It's because it really takes courage.

If you're rejected it hurts, both your feelings and your pride. It's painful, and humiliating, and likely to ruin your relationship with that person (especially if you had a good friendship going on). Being together becomes rather difficult after a failed love confession: things turn awkward at best, unbearable at worst, and you may very well find after confessing that you have lost a lot of important things and not gained anything.

That's why so many manga characters don't dare to be upfront about their feelings and instead just pussyfoot around with half-assed tactics like send signals and drop hints and imply things and then wait for the reaction. If it's not a blatantly positive reaction, they can always backpedal and claim they were just kidding. This is, like, the bread-and-butter stuff of manga romcoms. But, I swear, I don't think I've ever read before a story with two adult women who both keep doing the pussyfooty thing so fecking frigging freaking much even though they are both totally into each other! GEEZ!

If next chapter someone, anyone, doesn't confess seriously, I'll... well, I don't know what I'll do, but I'm gonna be not happy, so there!

I just dont get how this got 1000+ comments. Maybe I'm growing old ? :(

Maybe because it's just for pure enjoyment and wish fulfillment? It's not meant to be taken seriously. And the main character interactions are cute.

Yes, indeed. Quoting from the comments for the previous chapter:

"Tadokoro-san" is well liked by the crowd here, but for a short 4-page chapter to see such a massive and enthusiastic reaction in such a short time... well, I do think it's a first.

I surmise it has to do with the straightforwardness and unpretentiousness of the currently developing plot. A cute, sweet, helpless heroine everybody likes. A villain with a heart black as pitch who torments her. A hero who is the very image of a knight in shining armor who arrives just in time to save the damsel and mete out punishment to the miscreant. It has a charming simplicity it's difficult not to enjoy. v^_^v

She's going to make Nikaidou forgive the bully. Nikaidou is going to love Tadokoro even more for it and the bully is going to ship them so hard she's gonna get a nosebleed.

Tadokoro is a nice girl, not an Angel Character. There's a big difference, you know.

She loves Nikaidou, she's willing to do any self-sacrifice for Nikaidou, but she doesn't give a shit about Kirigaya.

Tadokoro & Nikaidou prolly forgot Kirigaya even exists 1 minute after leaving her behind.

Most people tend to assume conflict is the one major literary element without which a narrative structure cannot move forward, and expect to see a whole lot of it in any good story. Writers are often judged by how many points of conflict they include in a tale, how these conflicts are resolved, and how neatly and satisfyingly the closure is tied up. The ancient Greeks already held "agon" (the act of conflict) as the central unit of any plot; and, even today, many contemporary critics believe that conflict is the crucial feature of any literary creation -- or, in other words, that a story simply must have conflict as an indispensable source of tension and drama to hold the interest of the audience.

And, well, to all these people, I guess Yukiko-sensei would reply like this:

haha-ha haha-ha haha-ha ah-haa BLLLLL ah-haha

There were commenters who wrote that conflict was indeed here, because you could find small conflicts every chapter between the MCs. Reading these two chapters, I wonder what they were talking about. In some panels, Sakurako whines about some minor thing; then, next panel, Kasumi mollifies her and Sakurako is happy again. Are they taking these humorous 2-panel sequences as examples of conflict?
That might fit the basic dictionary definition of conflict, but not quite the definition of conflict as the "central unit of the plot" in literature.

Hmm...
Just to play Devil's advocate (lol), what about the times Kasumi confiscated or deleted Sakurako's collections of secret pics and tapes? You know, all that Kasumi-themed memorabilia Sakurako had acquired by secretly photographing or recording Kasumi?

Luinthoron is right, that exotic redhead is clearly Lisara Restall from "Dakara Boku wa, Ecchi ga Dekinai" ("So, I Can't Play H!") without any doubt. The fancy bracelet is a dead giveaway:

Both anime series, Boku-ecchi and Puchimas, came out and aired in the same year (2012) which I guess explains why someone mistook one for the other and mislabeled the gif.

... would you believe it, I didn't even need to google to recall this stuff. I'm too much of an anime nerd. >_<

I say: dress her in only panties and one of Hayasaka's shirts.

I've heard that the look of a girl wearing nothing but underwear and one of the (oversized for her) shirts of her bf is a total turn-on for the guyz. ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)

Aah... so Kasumi would be going at it in the traditional Japanese way...

Also known as the "Dead Fish" way.

Lmao, those definitions in the Urban Dictionary are hilarious.

Just so y'all know, the tiny blonde wrapped in the bath towel is Kiley, the one who usually took 30 or 40 minutes to do what Suzi did in 17 minutes with her guitarist fingers. Small world. ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)

I just realized I mixed up Nikaidou and Tadakoro's name. Whoops. Edited my above post.

^Eh, my mistake, switched left and right there for some reason. In any case, though, she comes from the same side she leaves to:

We have Tadokoro against the wall and Kirigaya in front of her. Seeing how when Nikaidou leaves, we see Tadokoro on the right and Kirigaya on the left, with Nikaidou in the distance, she must be to the left of them when looking towards the wall, which is also where she appears again.

Here's how I'm interpreting it:

I have a feeling that Tsutsuji is just running away from an abusive partner. Don't think she has bad intentions with the MC.

I really hope that you're right... but...

If she had a bf/partner, she was mooching off him, because when he kicked her out she found herself houseless and penniless. But then, why was she going to mixers and cheating on him with other guys? (Of course, that perhaps explains why he slapped her and kicked her out.) And the way she talked to Kotoko, you'd think she was offering sex as payment.

We dun know yet... but there are strong hints that Tsutsuji is the kind who uses her body to get stuff from people. :-(

I honestly think that even 'wife' isn't enough to describe their relationship. They're essentially each other's everything yet at the same time it's not unhealthy because they both bring something to their table.

As cheesy as it sounds maybe soulmate is more appropriate to describe their relationship since it won't be restricted by legalities and the like.

I know a lot of people want even more profound confirmation but neither Kasumi or Sakurako need it because the two of them are secure with what they've found with each other. Besides, their personalities are hardly conventional so naturally they won't behave like a typical couple or follow the expected steps in a relationship.

Yes! That's how deep their bond is. They both know how to make the other one happy, so why would they care about what's "conventional" by general norm? They don't need to explain anything to anyone.

One of the best exchanges in this chapter:

Kasumi says: "All I want to do in life is relax at home while eating delicious food."
Sakurako hugs her and immediately replies: "I'll work hard to earn a living!"

Just like that. Whatever Kasumi wants to do, Sakurako will work to support her. Because that's what she wants to do. Because Kasumi's happiness is her happiness as well. They are living their lives as they want to, they have the support of their friends and families, so what's there to worry about? That's all they need, societal expectations be damned.

This manga is a masterpiece. There isn't any other way of putting it.

I remember, when I read volume 1, a long time ago, I thought "tee hee, this is some cute fluff" and then pretty much forgot all about it. Because, you see, there were SO MANY other series cut on the same pattern (cute girls doing cute things, with vaguely romantic moments, in a 4koma format) and this one didn't feel strikingly outstanding next to the rest. So I forgot everything about it, even the name. Then, half a year ago, I was browsing through the Dynasty archive and found that there were four volumes out of something called 'A Room For Two' - and started reading.

Then I was like "Oh, I know this! I recall now! I read the first volume a while ago!"

Then I was like "Wow, time goes by in a realistic way, they are in their third year and graduating soon! Does this mean the end of the series? Oh, look, it's not ending, it's going on!"

Then I was like "Hey, what's with these girls? Are they really planning to live together and sleep together for the rest of their lives? Isn't that, like, a lesbian marriage or something?"

Then I was like "OMG they are doing it!! They are really doing it!!!"

Then I was like "Their families approve of their marriage! They talked about having children using IPS cells! They have been a couple for four-five years already, and they love each other more with every passing day! Their every interaction fills me with joy and elation, and it's too much, and I can't even, and asflgbsmflghbflasglb"

Seriously, I don't think any other manga has ever managed the tour de force 'A Room For Two' has successfully executed. We are at 6 volumes and about 5 years into the life of two girls intensely in love, and every development is a positive and uplifting one. No contrived conflicts here: no angst, no spats, no love triangles, no haters, no worries about gayness being wrong or unnatural or whatever, nothing but the simple happiness of loving each other and caring about each other with all their hearts. And it's one of the most exciting reads I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy, with nary a moment that feels tedious or repetitive or lacking in authenticity. Yukiko-sensei must have been blessed at birth by the yuri fairies with the gifts of brilliant storytelling and mastery of narrative pace and virtuosity at character development; there isn't any other explanation for this level of accomplishment. That's what I honestly believe.

I love this manga so much. (˵ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°˵)⌒♡*:・。.

I don't think it's a big age gap but Io is definitely older by like at least a couple years. It's kinda implied that Io has already hit puberty/a growth spurt by virtue of the whole "age of marriage" thing, and while in that same time period Kidaha is demonstrably smaller.

Couple of years older, eh?
I wonder if that's supposed to explain the differences in libido. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡~)~☆

Readers: "Hey, how come Io has such a wonderful lover as Kidaha but doesn't want to have sex all the time?"
Mira: "But she's two years older! She's an obasan already!"

If this ends exactly the same way as the anime I'm going to be really disappointed.

You and me both.
Any ending except a Satou/Shio lovey-dovey happy ending (preferably in some foreign country where nobody will bother them) is going to make me very disappointed.
