Why am I not surprised. Seju still can't let go of Sumin even though she tried to move on. It's just so tormenting watching her resmincing the past memories and seeing Sumin being cruel towards her, using her whenever she liked. Like come on... Havent this girl suffered more than enough already?
If her loneliness and depression has reached the point that makes her go back to the bad habit of drinking until she lost her sense, then you know it's very bad...
Hard to tell if Won feels any attraction towards Seju. It would be nice if they switch POV over to her instead of Seju in the next chapter, see what she thinks about her boss.
But yeah, having new characters or old ones appearing would spice things up a bit. If there's a previous character that I like to show up in the story, it would probably be Nami lol. She would make things entertaining for sure. I can just imagine her trying to hit on Won the moment she laid eyes on her and annoying Seju whilst doing that.
Still hoping Seju is actually considering running the hotel back up at some point. There's no way she can continue to isolate herself at the villa. She's going to end up losing her mind if she does.
Won is certainly a breath of fresh air with her carefreeness, walking into the room at the wrong time while Seju was changing and then casually asking her if she could sleep in her room for one night simply because the heater in her own room wasn't working at the time. The latter is especially unbelievable lol. Her words could easily have been misunderstood from Seju's point of view, probably thinking this girl is trying to get inside her pants so soon after they've met. Good thing she has enough sense to realize how awkward her request sounded.
There's certainly progress between the two after they've spent a few days together. Seju acted cold and distant at first, not really speaking much, leaving so soon after she had her bite, generally preferring to be left alone. Now, she has loosened up a bit, waiting until Won finished her meal, and was willing to go over and confide her with her problem. Perhaps she realized Won isn't a bad person trying to suck up to her like every other bloodsuckers she has met throughout her life, in addition to being bored and lonely since there's hardly anyone around the villa. I like the way she was checking out the muscles on Won's arms and shaking her head afterward like she's horrified at herself for perving over this young caretaker. Can't blame her for that since Won is stunningly attractive.
I think Seju might be going into denial, judging how she quickly switched back to her gloomy expression and walked off after her giggle. It's like she believes this is way too good to be true, the idea she would enjoy a moment of happiness with someone else. Maybe in the next chapter, she would go back to being cold in order to draw the line between them, so she doesn't end up hurting her the same way as she did with Sumin. Obviously, Won being who she is, won't just leave the president be, and they'll come to an understanding.
Funny, despite everything that happened between Sumin and Seju, I wouldn't mind the idea of those two meeting each other again, that's only if after enough time has passed. Paradise kind of foreshadow this with Sunhwa, a possibility they could see each other as long lost friends without anymore lingering feelings or desire to get back together. It would be a pivotal moment if Seju ends up telling Sumin the same thing said to her in CH86, that she rarely dreams about her and feel indifferent even if she does. Maybe her last line can be something like "I've found the one for me." before she turned round and smile at Won. That's just my imagination, it might not happen that way.
Anyway, one thing that still intrigues me about WDTFS is this dark drama element involving Ahn Chahee's apparent suicide. Saehyun (Seju's brother) suggest there was a possibility of it being a homocide. I remembered reading an earlier discussion, where there's a theory the family could have planned to murder her since she may get a chunk of inheritance if the Chairman married her and passed away. If Seju's mother turn out to be a loving and caring woman, it'll be even more strange the thought she would hanged herself and abandon her child. I feel like this could be made into an epic drama story: Seju finds out the truth behind her mother's death, and goes on a vengeful campaign to take down her scummy brothers.
Yeah, this side story is going to be a slow burn. I don't expect Seju to fall madly in love with Dowon overnight no matter how amazing of a character the latter would be. One would probably be the longest of all the side stories, maybe 30 chapters at most and possibly a time skip occurring in the story. There's still plenty of time for those two in getting to know one another better, create memories together and all that. So far, Dowon has left a stronger first impression to me than Sungji and Sumin.
I do hope there will be a plot more than just romance. I highly doubt Seju and Dowon are going to spend the next couple of years like an old married couple in that nearly empty villa, just the two of them sipping tea and watching the sunset together. That's not much of a story to really go on. I like to think Seju being the businesswoman that she is, would take the opportunity to start up the hotel, even though she's probably so freaking loaded that she doesn't need to work for her remaining lifetime. It could be her dream goal all along, creating her own hotel franchise. She could hire Dowon to be the general manager or her secretary since this girl would be the one to give her the push she needed. Then the two of them will face the challenge of trying to make the business bloom from scratch. That's one way the pair will get closer and help Seju realize her self-worth in the end that she isn't worthless.

I think it’s hard to know if Do Won is cold or not. But one thing is for sure, there must be a reason such a young person is stuck doing cleaning work in a deserted hotel.
Yup, regarding Dowon.
It probably has nothing at all to do with a dark past that leads her to become a caretaker for a deserted villa. She used to be a swimmer, so she could have retired from the sport when she reached her peak at 23 or 24. Competitive swimming, after all, is very physically and mentally demanding. It becomes increasingly difficult to perform consistently at the highest level the older you get. Just like any other athletes who left the sport, she has to either find work or study, make a living for herself. Maybe this caretaker job was the only thing on offer for her, after struggling for years to find other jobs that suited her, and you know how that saying goes, "Beggars can't be choosers."
Of course, that sounds like a boring reason, right? If you really want to go for the K drama cliche, then she might have suffered an injury in the past that stops her from swimming competitively. Or she could have been shunned from her whole family and her coach the moment she was caught being a lesbian and was forced to isolate herself after the humiliation. Korea isn't exactly LGBT friendly compared to the US for instance. It's all speculation at this point.
Anyways, I'm actually liking Dowon so far even though it's only the first chapter. She seems so casually friendly with Seju, showing no hesitation whatsoever to tell her boss to call her by her name and persisted with the food offering despite being rejected a few times. Most folks in her shoes would have been quite anxious to act this chummy with an employer on first meeting. For Seju, who's pretty used to superficial acting all her life, this new girl would be a breath of fresh air - someone who can be genuinely kind towards her without any ulterior motives involved.

Alright, I've seen the first chapter of One.
My first impression of Do-Won. She already feels like just another Sungjil in terms of personality: the clumsy young rookie who has a habit of saying thoughtless words and acts kind, accommodating towards her boss. Wasnt quite what I expected. I thought she'll be more the stoic no-nonsense but occasionally caring type. Guess the author didn't want her to be similar to Sumin. At any rate, it's still early days so she may not be a carbon copy of Sungjil just yet.
As it turns, the villa Seju's mother stayed at isn't really much of a villa but more of a hotel that was used for business in the past. It looks pretty deserted, perhaps Seju would be motivated to help turn its fortune around since she doesn't seem to have any other places to go to.

Holy crap, NO FLASHBACKS. Bye a-hole Sumin, see you never!
No flashbacks yet. But Seju did made a joke regarding Do-Won, saying she looks like the result of a threesome between Sumin, Sungji and Nami lol.
Haven't seen the full chapter yet, only a glimpse of some pages posted on Twitter. Do-Won certaintly has an exotic look about her, brown hair, tanned skin and is taller than Seju. I wonder which Kpop star she's inspired from?
Well, I think we can all agree that Sungjil presence in the story was underwhelming, thanks to the overdramatization of Sumin and Seju. It's like whatever Sungjil does, there's always this constant flashback or mention about Seju and what she did together with Sumin in the past. That must be a tad frustrating for those who are on Team Blonde.
If Seju and Dowon are really going to be a thing in the next side-story, I really hope Seju doesn't keep constantly recalling her past memories with Sumin like every chapter. That's not moving on at all. Not saying she shouldn't forget about her first love completely, but she should be prioritizing what's more important to her at the moment and push those thoughts about Sumin to the further back of the queue.
Found this fan art of Seju and Dowon: https://66.media.tumblr.com/c4ae6676052d9ee1d2c3a85313756440/tumblr_owjzbsb3Da1wz22woo1_640.jpg
It would be amusing if they have this kind of playful relationship in the side story :P
Only time will tell if Dowon is going to be an awesome character or not. I like to think she will be since the author went through the trouble of giving that tease between her and Seju at the end of Ch93, along with her profile in the epilogue note. She's a former swimmer with a huge appetite, meaning she has a healthy lifestyle that can motivate Seju to be fit. And considering how Seju gets sick easily, she could really use someone that can give her the push she needed. If I'm guessing right, Seju is the CEO of a hotel based in the United States, which her father wanted to take over and Dowon is the general manager, so I imagine those two will have frequent interactions and get to know each other better, maybe realize they share the same dream and all.
I sincerely hope TG isnt dragging this Sumin and Sungjil present time moments before releasing One. The delay and waiting is simply tortue for anyone whose on Team Pink lol.
Yeah, about Sumin and Sungjil, they've only dated for less than a year compared to Sumin and Seju who managed to have 7 years of beautiful memories together until the accident happened. It's going to take time for Sumin to readjust, considering she's so used to her old habit of being reserved and cynical. I mean, this is the woman who had her heart broken by her first love and had failed relationships with 30 other girls in the past. Perhaps in the 3 years time skip in Will, we'll see a different Sumin whose a lot more comfortable and enthusiastic.
As for Seju and Dowon, I'm kind of hoping it would end up in the My Sassy Girl route. Seju finally found someone who understands her and she realized her love for Dowon but she needs time apart to forget about Sumin. Then they reunited after 2 or 3 years where her wounds have healed at last.

Probably this Tuesday coming, according to TG twitter. It's not a consistent schedule though since the author does sometimes go off sick, which delays the update.
Blimey, seems like only a few of us are willing to welcome the idea of a new love interest for Seju.
I mean, I honestly think people should give the new girl a chance. Who knows, she could turn out to be an even greater person than Sumin. Someone who can teach Seju to be more positive than negative. Someone who can open up her world, and make her see the beauty of life. And after all the crap Seju has gone through, she deserves her happiness rather than just be forever alone and reminiscing her past memories of her time with Sumin.
My disappointment. I felt the author should have done this during the main story, giving the proper closure that sets Seju on the healing path. But I guess, it's better late than never.
So the reason I am unsatisfied with this whole thing of producing a new character just to be with Seju is precisely because it feels artificial. As in, rather than that being part of the main plot it’s kind of a weird afterthought, like a poor man’s compensation. Maybe the story will be great and I will eat my words, which is exactly what I want since I like great stories lol Still that’s my feeling about it right now.
Fundamentally my main point of surprise is that I feel bait and switched by this story. I started it out thinking it was a love triangle with Sungji as the main character. Rather than writing Sungji well, Team GJ focuses on Seju and her backstory. Then obviously I start focusing and cheering for Seju, only to see her fail miserably and lose everything (dad, family, lover, even inheritance!). I mean wtf, I expected romance but got a depressing dark drama instead. Yes there is romance between Sumin and Sungji, but by this point I couldn’t care less and in my opinion, it was the writing that made me not care.
Yeah, like I was saying, I'm disappointed that the author didn't include this element of a new love interest for Seju into the main story. It would have certainly given Seju a happier ending then, rather than the depressing one seen at the end, where's she now alone. At least Team Pink wouldn't have had to wait for an agonizing two years to finally see this closure.
At one point, I thought Nami and Seju were going to be a thing. They do say, opposites attract. But to my disappointment, Nami was just a plot device serving to help Sumin realize she still loves Seju and need to break off with her cleanly. The same with Dawoon. She was another plot device for Sungji. It's such a shame though, I felt either one of those two characters could have had a bigger role in the story.
I'd like the idea of Dawoon being together with Seju. It would be ironic, two girls who failed in their endeavor to get the one they wanted, decided to find comfort in one another. Just like Ploy and Ice in Lily Love.
Blimey, seems like only a few of us are willing to welcome the idea of a new love interest for Seju.

Not once when I read the story that I ever wanted Sumin and Seju to be the end game. Even after seeing those sweet innocent memories of their past in Paradise doesn't change my mind.
Seju was clingy and possessive. Sumin seems to have an inferiority complex. They're not truly compatible with one another. Assuming the shitstorm never happened in the past, those two would have bound to run into an issue somewhere down the line that could break them apart. As we have seen, neither of them are good at communicating and solving their problems.
I don't have anything against Sumin. I actually like the young, naive version of Sumin, who was adorable and caring towards Seju in the past. I dislike the angry resentful woman she became after the cheating incident, who keep using her ex as a rebound whenever she break up with a new girl. Glad Sungji broke the cycle and made her become a better person. I'm confident if those two run into a problem in the future, they can sort it out.
Seriously, cant wait for the next side story. My wishlist: Seju smiling and laughing again, meaningful conversations between her and Dowon, Nami showing up to troll her, beautiful scenery at the beach, most importantly passionate love scenes.
I feel like an important plot device gets overlooked in discussions and that is of the torture/curse-mark by Seju's brother/uncle/family-friend (Been a long time since i read this and can't remember his exact relationship)
I'm not sure if it's how the plot device was executed by the author or if readers just don't think it was that important but i always felt it had a big impact on why the story took the route that it did post-cheating.
Exactly! Maybe people just don’t see it as a big deal because Seju is their fave.
They also overlook the fact that Sumin’s parents just freaking died and Seju was pushing her instead of being there for her yet Sumin was the first one to actively try to mend their relationship while Seju got drunk instead of admitting her fault.
The whole debate about Seju being raped or not further proves that she has a strong following. I really think if she were raped, that definitely would have been addressed by Team Gaji. But like I said, she never says the Bartender raped her. And besides, Seju’s manipulative. That excerpt they show after Sungji catches them, where Seju tells Sungji Sumin can’t love her, just shows she’s not above lying to get what she wants. Also, she told Sungji to go to her office knowing that Sungji was going to catch her and Sumin in the act. Like Seju, why do you have to hurt Sungji’s innocent heart just to get what you want?.
I know it seems like I hate Seju but I don’t. I recognize she has no idea how to love because of her upbringing. I just don’t think Sumin should be vilified either when they both made mistakes that caused each other pain.
The point of the story is that all the characters are flawed.
Seju messed up first. Then Sumin retaliated. Seju just let it happen because she felt guilty for what happened to Seju. Seju was so angry but when she realized how much pain she was causing Seju, she too felt an overwhelming sense of guilt. They were trapped in this destructive cycle. They were no longer bound by love but instead, guilt and pain tied them together until Sungji came along.
Sungji herself has her own flaws, granted much less serious than Sumin and Seju.
Well, I'm not going to lie. Out of the three main characters, Seju is my favorite. She's the one I find most intriguing to read about. Admittedly, I didn't like her at first. Thought she was just a manipulative bitch, but as the story unravels, it turns out she does have some redeeming qualities, namely her love for Sumin even if she went about it the wrong way.
I still find the cheating incident to be vague. Nobody is wrong to make the assessment to think Seju had willingly cheated on Sumin. The signs do seem incriminating: being lucid enough to give that bartender her home address and how the guard would have stopped her if she's too drunk out of her mind. But then, there are other signs throughout the course of the story that suggest differently about Seju: how she's not interested in men, Nami implying she's not the kind of person to sleep around with others, Sumin making wrong assumptions about her on two occasions. I prefer to be openminded and don't jump to just one conclusion.
It's easy for folks to blame everything on Seju, making her the fall girl. She shouldn't have been insensitive to snap Sumin out of her grief after her parents' deaths. She shouldn't have gotten herself drunk. She shouldn't be clingy and possessive towards Sumin. But if one takes the time to understand her character, just imagine yourself in her shoe, then you realize it's not that simple.

You just shattered my heart into a million pieces. I suppose Sungji is not that bad...guess I will continue reading...at least I am prepared for tragedy now I guess :-(
I'm sorry for kinda ruining your reading experience haha :P But yes, I definitely recommend continuing reading the manhwa. Even though people hate it calling it only "cheap sex manga" it portrays the characters and their emotions brilliantly. And there is a level of subtlety that makes it even more interesting. One of my favorite manhwas for sure.
Btw, unrelated, but have you read "The Love Doctor"? If you have, I'd like to know your opinion about it, since both have kind of similar settings (
Young girlxAdult woman
, High-school-sweethearts-love-triangle)I agree, Love Doctor is very good.
Haven't read that one yet.
As for WDTFS, does anyone know where to keep paying the manga author? Last year I paid for half the chapters in Lezhin at once and forgot about it, only picked up the series to read again last week. When I tried to go beyond the chapters I had bought I was informed the series was terminated (???). But I found the rest of the series for free elsewhere. The series is too good and I would be happy to pay for it, so if there is a way of doing that let me know.
You can sign up on Tappytoon. The author made a tweet about that platform, as the one officially translating the manhwa in English. Only 32 chapters have been released so far. It's going to take a while for the site to catch up to the end of the main story and the side story.
Not sure if I'm the only way that feels this way, but there's something so captivating about Risa's tongue piercing. It's like hypotonizing you to keep looking at it, maybe imagine yourself sticking your tongue in hers and have a taste of that silver stud.
I didn't take Seju's silence when Sumin accused her of lying to meant that she was definitely guilty. It is a possibility she too was wondering why the concierge didn't stop them at the time. Maybe he stepped out for a bathroom break or decided he couldn't be arsed to do his job properly that night. That could have happened. Just saying.
Personally, I just find it unlikely Seju would willingly do it with a guy, considering she's not interested in men by her own admission, coupled with the fact she's so in love with Sumin. If it did happen, I'm more inclined to believe the bartender took advantage of her when she's drunk. Something about him seems to rub me wrong the way he was bothering Seju and prying about her love life instead of leaving her be.
Not trying to justify Seju's action. She made a mistake trying to find her answer in the bottom of a glass. Hopefully, if she does end up being with the new girl, she'll remember not to repeat this mistake ever again.
Seju didn't exactly seem to be in the right frame of mind to give a proper explanation, assuming she rushed straight after Sumin on the same day she was caught. Chances are, she's not fully sobered from her last night drunken episode. Not to mention, she was getting her face punched around whilst trying to get Sumin to listen.
And Sumin herself doesn't seem to be in the mood to discuss things calmly and rationally. She was running pretty high on emotion, given how she clearly felt betrayed and disgusted when she saw Seju and that bartender cuddling together. It's doubtful she's going to trust anything she says.
But I guess it's a moot point. Whether or not Seju actually slept with that guy, doesn't make much difference in the end. The damage has already been done. Unless the author decides to bring it back up in the next side-story, we'll never know the whole content behind this cheating incident.
But yeah, Sumin and Seju's relationship was destined to be doomed, as far as I can see. It just doesn't seem like... those two are truly compatible for one another if that makes any sense. Their memories together look sweet at times, but it doesn't show the whole picture.
Seju depended far too much on Sumin to provide her the love she needed, and that's not too healthy. The way she was, she could barely function with other people. Sumin herself should have been more assertive to help her girlfriend overcome these issues, but I suppose she wasn't mentally strong enough to face the challenge.
Well to be fair, the whole cheating incident with the bartender guy is ambiguous at best. Nothing was explicitly shown what really went down that night. Sure, Sumin may have found Seju and that guy sleeping together in the bed, seemingly naked under the sheet but that doesn't necessarily prove they actually did it.
But for Sumin, she already made up her mind Seju really went through it willingly and no amount of reassuring words can convince her to think otherwise. I mean she was so traumatized that when she had the strap-on sex with that red-haired supervisor, she imagined Seju was overly enjoying herself with that guy and ended up puking in the toilet.
In the end, it was a real shitty mistake on Seju's part. Understandably, she was lonely and deeply insecure, considering Sumin was avoiding her and the guilty thought that she might be the one who caused the deaths of her girlfriend's parents. Yes, she should have trusted Sumin a lot more to come back to her sense, which she did eventually. But that's easier said than done.
Anyway, I'm pleased Paradise has finally reached its end. It was heartwarming at times, but also pretty torturing knowing the pair won't be together. Glad that Seju has found the closure to move on after she left behind that sticker photo of her and Sumin, probably the only memento of their past. Now, her healing journey can truly begin, and I for one, can't wait for the next side-story.
Even if she doesn't end up with a new lover, that's fine by me, so long as there's one person out there that can make her smile and laugh again :)
I like to think the intention of Sunhwa's presence in the side-story, is a question that has readers thinking, "What if she was the one that became Sumin's girlfriend back in high school instead of Seju. How would Sumin's future look different in ten years time?"
For starters, I don't think Sunhwa would have made the same mistake Seju did when Sumin's parents died. She too has a loving and caring parents it seems, so I doubt she'll be that insensitive trying to force Sumin to come out of her grief. Overall, she would have been a better match for Sumin than Seju, having known her since middle school and can make friends with others. Then again, the same could be said for any of the 31 girls Sumin dated in the past ten years before she met Sungji. Well, maybe not her old supervisor, Choi, who's even more sly than Seju.
But sadly, this seems pointless as we all know Sumin and Seju ended up spending 17 years of having a toxic and unhealthy relationship.
Well, some very good news has just arrived. According to Team Gaji's twitter, the last chapter of Paradise will be released next week Tuesday. After that, the author will take a two weeks break. Then finally, we can look forward to One - the side-story which most Seju fans are waiting for. The hype is real :)
nobody knows if it's the last chapter because the author said Paradise is a little over 10. Just hope it will end soon lol
Well, damn. I thought the author said these side stories were going to be 10 chapters at most. How much more are they going to keep torturing us over Sumin x Seju's sweet bitter past, lol?
Don't get me wrong though. Not saying I didn't like Paradise. We get to learn several things:
- Sumin and Seju's relationship wasn't always toxic and unhealthy
- Sumin had a best friend whom she knew from middle school
- Seju didn't have any other friends at the time
- Seju tends to get sick easily and doesn't exercise a lot
- Seju likes the sea, probably wanted to learn how to swim after watching Sumin
These points do feel like they would come into play during One.
Anyway, it would be nice to have a chapter where Sumin and Seju had their first meeting. Apparently, they met at a party if I recalled from the author's interview. Knowing how pretty cautious Seju is, Sumin must have said or done something remarkable to get her to open up.

I find this shipping war to be rather toxic... Don't mind if folks can have a respectful, civilized discussion about it, which doesn't seem to be the case so far.
I for one, got nothing against those that ship Sumin x Seju. They're entitled to their opinions. I just personally don't find the two to be compatible with one another, despite how sweet and innocent their relationship started. It can make a very interesting storytelling to have two former lovers finding the inner strength to fix their broken relationship. Unfortunately, the story wasn't set up that way. Maybe the author has considered that idea at one point, but decided the cons outweigh the pros and Sumin x Sungji was the safer bet.
