Lmao i forgot how awful the ending of this story was. Such a good yuri, it’s so believable and gets really intense in places. And then that fucking ending…

Goddddd this manga is driving me crazy!! Their feelings are so complicated!!

I'm also getting the impression that Komaki is a coward, and that she's doing all of this because she's afraid of asking Wakaba out, but doesn't want anyone else to have Wakaba's 1st time experiences

I think it’s something like that, but given it seems like her original trauma is “this girl who is the only person in the world with me, the only one who knows me and who I can trust, is moving away from me and focusing on other people and I’ll have nothing left,” I’d put it more like, “she’s trying to cling onto Wakaba as long as she can and carve a record of herself into her so that when Wakaba leaves her, at least she’ll still have her blood on her fingers, at least the scars she left will still touch her skin.”

It’s driving me crazy. There is no yuri more peak than this. The little cracks in Komaki’s cold facade revealing desperate, wild emotion just underneath. The way she looks invincible and alone, but I just know that if Wakaba told her something like “if only I had been a better friend to you when we were younger, maybe you wouldn’t have hurt Senpai like that” it would completely shatter her, like tear her guts out, in such a multi-layered and profound way… oogh im feeling faint.

And wakaba!! That desire to challenge and overturn Heaven to prove Komaki is human (so she’ll finally get off that high horse? so she’ll overcome that sense of alienation, and not feel so alone?) could carry a series on its own, just with her struggling and falling and rising again and keeping that girl in her sights on the ever-distant horizon… but they had to be gratuitous and ALSO include the conceit that she gets emotionally tortured in a sexy, dangerous and permanent way to further mingle her hate and love, her affection and disgust, to further complicate her motivation to beat Komaki (to tear her down. to reach her.)

She’s like. Defiantly, spitefully challenging komaki for her hand in marriage, but every time she loses and is subjected to erotic yet cutting Female Bullying that further scars her and brings them closer.

Oogh. It’s too muchhhh. Im gonna vomit up peat from the yuri swamp any second now.

I fucking love that so many people do omegaverse for these two with an unusual setup, like two alphas or two omegas. It just fits them so perfectly, like they stand on equal footing and compete and they weren’t brought together by natural expectation but by the feelings they have for each other. It makes is extra gay in a way that synergizes with the tension of their rivalry, it’s volatile and ardent full of a deep underlying affection.

In other words, it’s peak.

The pages before the actual comic started were so good, they set such an artful and considering mood. The sex itself really did nothing for me, personally. The retrospective knowledge that hearing her childhood nickname turned her on and put her into a frenzy was kinda sexy, but the action itself, not as much. However, I find it really impressive that the sex managed to fit so well into the piece’s mood—that melancholy of life changes, of leaving the final trappings of a life once lived behind and moving on.

There’s something to the fact that a lot of works like love live are set in highschool, and in the context of highschool clubs no less, that makes them feel really transient, when you take a step back. That no matter how bright those days were, you have to graduate and move on with your life—I think it plays really well with the audience’s love of the characters and attachment to their story, and the excitement of it all, to place that as one moment in a long life. And here, in this doujin, the characters are saying goodbye to the stage of life that came just after that bright, exciting one—I think that, in that moment, it makes sense to have a melancholy nostalgia, knowing that the chapter of life you’re entering doesn’t even border on that one anymore. Your life is full of other things, like a relationship that came out of that time and then matured into something else: you have other things to think about, and so much more to look forward to, but you’ll never have that specific time again, and you have to make peace with it.

It’s a similar thing you feel as a fan, knowing the source work is coming to a close, or remembering when it ended. It’s a subject rich with emotional potential from many angles, and I think it’s something universal to the human experience to the point that, when a work really taps into that vein of feeling like this doujin does, I can feel it and trace it even as someone with no attachment to the original property. And I think that’s really beautiful.

ahhhh, i always come back to this one. It's that one panel of mash, I think. the concept of the shy wallflower best friend--at this point Mash might even qualify for childhood friend status, if we're thinking artistically--suddenly having unbearably intense feelings she has to suppress to not break Ritsuka's trust... there's something really compelling about that, don't you think?

the very affection that compels her to respect Ritsuka and keep her hands off her is the same feeling that makes her a danger to her own Master... isn't that just the best?

Yesss more food from the number 1 mata hari stan

From back in 2019, huh… there’s a certain vibe to doujins from several years ago, especially when they get translated later. It makes you think, “this person is talking in the afterword about their thoughts and feelings and plans and how they feel about the original media at the time, but that was years ago. I wonder where they are now?”

There’s something so personal about the afterword of a doujin, it makes you feel like you got the smallest glimpse into this person and who they are, how they do logistics to plan for releases. And the only snapshots you’ll get of the life of the person that produces things you enjoy is through more afterwords, if any of there other works get translated. It’s such a tenuous connection, left totally to chance and obscured from you. Maybe this is the last you’ll hear from them: maybe not. And especially when it’s an older work, it’s like, to me this was written in the present. But to them, it’s years ago. I wonder if they still love the characters they wrote about so earnestly?

manifesting gay narita (praying hands emoji)

also I know the exact vibe the manga is communicating, of the campsight at night with people you really love to hang out with and it does it so perfectly, the convos about Real Shit (even if it's silly) while u brush your teeth by flash light in a campsite bathroom... i think that's where the human spirit is meant to live.

This is so so so good, delicious yuri pastry, im totally addicted. You can never tell what's going to happen next, and the energy keeps changing and keeping you off balance. the bocchi-esque anxiety setup is really fun, but I love how they make it serious sometimes when you least expect it, and it hits really hard. it's deeply deeply erotic without anything really sexual going on, and I think that's incredibly impressive.

The dynamic between the two girls is pure kino, the premise of the teasing, experienced, older girl who's maybe a little bit mean and doesn't quite have her partner's best interests in mind constantly getting flanked and knocked off her feet and wrapped around her little finger is incredible, and those Moments that suuna has and the mysterious erotic energy shifting about underneath the surface really sell that kind of thing so well.

There's an ineffable Something going on in this manga, something in the hot blushes and the damp, hushed mouths and the gorgeous faces and generous bodies and those moments where Suuna crosses some kind of edge between them; in the way Suuna doesn't notice as she sinks into it while it leaves Ruka breathless and flushed and disoriented... this crackling, flickering background energy of pure erotic potential that can reemerge out of nowhere and shift the genre and tone into something breathless and slow and rich like dark chocolate, before fading back into a comedy about this oblivious anxious girl and people who might be her friends. But you always know it's there in the background. All you can do is anticipate it coming back again, in the middle of a joke or a touching character moment, whenever you least expect it. Because anything could happen. Anything.

maybe it's a headcanon? It kind of makes sense for her, I think. That would be cute.

Ohhhohoho, it’s gotten so chewy, everybody’s collapsing together and conflicting in the most interesting ways. God, this is so satisfying. I need to go back and study and contrast the tearful outburst panels between Lapis and Diana, there’s so much there!!!

I can’t believe it’s still getting better, and the pacing is so tight! Nothing overstays its welcome!

God this manga is good.

love the chemistry and the allure and thoughts on what makes someone irresistible. This looks like it could be really interesting. It's really hard to put your finger on this the way the atmosphere keeps shifting. As it should around a mysterious and mercurial semi-stranger.
