I don't think the writing has been dumbed down to cater to teenage readers on Kakao. It still has the same style as the main story: the hidden meanings behind the characters' words and their actions, the foreshadowing, the complicated drama elements, etc. The only thing Team Gaji can't do is make the sex scenes more explicit, which is a damn shame since the series started off as a steamy adult drama.
I still feel as though if the author was gonna write a story with Seju being the main character, it should have been more of a sequel series with 50 chapters or more, showing her meeting new people and dealing with life without Sumin. But atlas, it is what it is. At any rate, I expect by the time One has ended, there will be a proper closure that leaves nothing to doubt. Seju will arguably get the happiest ending after all the suffering she had to endure throughout her life. She will have a family, friends and finally a soulmate.
Gotta admit when One does finally end, I don't think I'll be that eager and interested in reading the other side stories. Neither Dawoon or Sangmi particularly stand out. As for Sumin and Sungji side story in Will, not sure what's there left to tell about this couple. They will probably have a couple of conflicts just for the drama before finally making up and marrying each other at last. I could be proven wrong though.
I totaly agree with you. Seju's story, One have obvious themes and it feels like continuation, and with my favorite character. In my opinion Dawon was secondary character just to make Sungji busy. She doesn’t have much of a presence and doesn’t leave much of impression. And Sumin x Sungji arc is fully closed. On other hand, I'm curios whan TG will do and I want to be proven wrong, lol. And, yes again, instead of so many spinoffs I wanted to see more chapters in One, like full-blown sequel.

I would say there is no point in thinking about the actual plot very hard. I know I seem pessimistic for saying this but I even feel like the writer of the story is not the same anymore, or cannot write in the same way anymore due to editorial requirements from Kakao (target demographic being teens, etc).
...
The situation is parallel to when Citrus reached chapter 36 and I got upset: I was literally like, there is no way this writer, with these abilities, will be able to bring this story knot to a satisfying conclusion.
And for me writing is consistent. I reread not so long ago some parts about Seju. One is somewhat symmetrical to the main story. Except nudity and explicit sex of course, lol. WDTFS is melodrama and demographic not a factor if the writing is good. Well, maybe it is, when story is for little babies.
And Citrus, why? Citrus already in chapter 1 showed writing quality and style. I'll enjoy reading this, even if these points will be never addressed like they weren’t in the main story.
It was quite some time when I read this typical but somewhat strange harem story.

I reread new chapter and kinda liked it more, but it felt too short. And Wonnie is like terminator there, lol. Eh, I like this story.
If Seju’s brother is also her father that’s truly the nail in the coffin.
Seju can get the award “Being X is Suffering”, previously awarded to Homura from Madoka.
Yeah, after that I remembered last year’s meme about Seju and suffering, lol. And what so special about strangling? It’s second time already, not to mention that Seju thought to do that herself. I’m not an assassin, but there are some other methods.
And what about 4 years? Her mother is long dead, no? Seju said herself that Won is too young to remember her. There is some connection with Won's parents which now overseas? And her brother doesn’t trust anyone or doesn’t have money on pro to kill her? It’s her brother that borrowed large amount of money from her?
Ok, I'll waiting for more. My simple story about Seju happiness, when, lol.
But Team Gaji do develop relationships between Do Won and Baek Seju, it’s not the end. It’s just I want more of that then tying up what was hinted in main story about mother, murder and Seju’s mad family. And its shame that people didn’t want to leave positive comments after quarrel above, I’d love to see them. But it's understandable, lol.
Eh, I think it was ok. Rushed and weaker - yes. I didn’t want to see this assassin and family drama from the start, lol. And now it’s two combined. I hope this will be getting over soon and Seju’s brother who was involved with her mom do the revenge thing. Team Gaji do love to torture Seju, lol.
It’s just a poll… For fun, you know. Some can vote just because they think that characters are look good beside each other, lol. But I agree that right now One is not about romance, it’s about Seju. Wonnie doing her thing and not being considerate of her position is in her character from get go. On the other hand, why not? You can root for them already. There are some nice things like Taisukeikun said.

I find it kind of refreshing that titular “bitchy ex” has so much of a story behind them, and that it made them one of the most interesting characters. It’s not like in this type of story was never hinted that they can be happy too, but I want to see it from authors themselves, lol. Because of that I don’t want One to be tragedy. And as for Seju and Sumin, yeah, they can be only friends, like with Nami.
As for the story where two exes not torture each other for 10 years, but stay friends until some spark between them occurred again, I recommend Honey & Mustard by Morishima Akiko.

I like the art and how real it feels. I hope this isn't tragedy.
^I don’t think it was suicide attempt, just some stupid impulsive decision. Seju is unstable and fully capable of terrible actions that will definitely harm her too. And yes, forgivness can help, but not right now, in my opinion. She needs time. It’s interesting how team gaji will play it out.
About her mom, I don’t remember what exactly happened too. She hanged herself, but it was so messy that murder instead of suicide was hinted? Something like that, but I can be wrong about hanging.
Remy Yeah, why not? It's interesting, lol.
She needs to get Sumin’s official forgiveness and move on, or to forgive herself automatically somehow (no clue how that would happen).
It’s not like I don’t agree, but I think that her reasons is more complex than that. Her self-hatred is more ingrained in her head. Just couple of chapters ago she throws herself in the pool on impulse just because Wonnie was nice to her. There can be possibility that even if Sumin will say to her “I forgive you” she still can’t do it herself. So I think that she must change herself. Maybe Sumin can help with honest talk and full-hearted forgiveness, but no more than that.
Sungji is not martyr level, she is simply too naive and eager to have sex with this person she is into and doesn’t even know well. She has never fallen in love before.
I’m not talking about start of their relationships, but mostly about that last time when she left "for greater good”. She said it herself: I’ll be good girl and will suffer, but make things right, be with Seju, Team leader. Lol, what? She is too kind and good, like a saint, lol. But I’m ok if people see it differently.
BTW a quick google search returns that gloves are a symbol for fidelity. Well she better burn them if she wants to move on then lmao
I didn’t know that, lol. Honestly, I think about symbols only in context of the story, because there are can be multiple meanings in different cultures and story might not adopt even one of them. Scarfs or rings are simple, because it’s common gift with known value. But gloves do have interesting meanings.
I disagree. She cannot forgive herself due to self-hatred, and I do think her desire for Sumin’s forgiveness is so that she can forgive herself obviously. I mean that is the case in all situations where the person wants forgiveness lol But the reason why the “crime” is so heavy for her is because she loves Sumin. Seju is not that good of a person, she has no problems being an a-hole including to DoWon so I don’t think her self-hatred extends beyond her specific “crime” LOL
Yeah, Seju and even Sumin are flawed people, selfish, even bitchy. But it doesn’t mean that they can’t torture themselves over some reasons. For Seju Sumin means a lot, but her love is always have this complicated nature. Mostly because how she was raised. So I don’t think that what’s going on with Seju in latest chapter was about love to Sumin and not about guilt and self-hatred. She thought, how she can have something good when she this filthy human? Mix of the reasons sounds good too, lol. Again, it’s how I see it. In the end, story is incomplete and what’s matter is that she needs to change for the better.

I think Sumin do love Sungji, and they are comfortable about each other. My least favorable character is Sungji, because I think her love for Sumin much more on “martyr level” than Seju’s, lol. About Sumin and Sungji that empathize with Seju – it’s understandable, Seju is not that bad human being, and they consider her situation. Maybe too much, lol, but shit happens.
And right now it’s not about love that Seju have for Sumin, It’s about her self-hatred. And I wonder when it was about love in the main story. She hated herself so much that wanted Sumin to hate her even more. And she wanted Sumin to come back and then she doesn't need to feel this guilt anymore. I hope she stop doing it. And maybe it’s just early speculations: I think gloves are not a symbol of love, but a symbol of forgiveness. And a symbol of blood bath, lol? It would be funny if all this dramatic sequences with bat is just her brother that came to say hello.
Contrasting with Do Won and Seju, I feel Seju is actually paying attention to who Do Won is and asking questions and wanting to understand her. As long as they don’t go for desperate sex like in the last chapter, it seems much more like it can be real love.
Yes, I think so too.
You're right. It is very hard to provide all the feelings to one person. I wonder how those open relationships work when each partner can be in multiple relationships. It is ready hard to be committed to one person lol. If you have to be emotional involved with multiple partners, you'll probably end up insane lol. I think female x female relationships are more energy draining. Women are too emotional and expecting a lot from their partner. I guess thank god mostly just 1 to 1 relationship. Even in manga, 3 women in a love relationship would end up a disaster eventually.
I don't agree. It depends on a person, not on person's sex. Polyamory can be in real life in different forms, but again it depends on preference and comfort of a people that involved in this type of relationships. It is rare.

Seju’s big mistake was not the cheating. About that, Sumin suck around for 10 years so that fixing could occur. The mistake was that Seju kept emotional distance from Sumin and gave her sex and freedom as Sumin said she wanted. But what Sumin ACTUALLY wanted was for Seju to try and become emotionally close again, and be sweet to her like she needed. Since Seju failed to do that for such a long time, Sumin’s mind found a replacement in Sungji.
It doesn’t contradict what I said about them being different and unable to express themselves properly. Romance between Sumin and Sungji was way after her first relationships and Sungji is more open and talkative. And it’s not about replacement; it’s just their relationships work and gives both parties what they want.
In my opinion Seju becoming able to be vulnerable and emotionally close is the way out for her no matter if her decision is to be with Won or give Sumin one more shot. But for that she needs to somehow get rid of her guilt
Yeah, I agree, except Sumin part. That door is closed in my opinion.
Seju took the damn gloves even though she knew she was there to forget!
I wonder about that. Like, the day before this her luggage arrive. Maybe, just maybe, it’s Sumin send her gloves, because it was her present and now it’s Seju things.
Guzzyfuzzy349 Yes, yes and yes. I don’t want to see another story about eternal love for person with whom character can’t be together. I want Seju to be mutually loved. Because love isn’t replacement, it’s new feeling that free her.
So If the endgame is DowonxSeju then what will happen is that Seju and Sumin will talk over the gloves, likely being friends from that moment on.
I think, that how the story is going and I like it, its complement meaning of the main story. Again I saw in the main story 3 protagonist: Seju, Sumin and Sungji. About Sumin, she comes back to Seju because she wanted to remember that emotion of love thru sex, love that she had with her once. In the flashback she said herself that she love Seju even more after sex. Sumin tried to find love thru sex, and because of that when her relationships was failing again she said something like: "she can’t do better than you" to Seju. But in the end Sumin was wrong and find mutual love and committed relationships in another form and then let go of Seju completely, yes, after some missteps and problems, lol, like it was complex story of toxic circle and lingering feelings of love, hate and guilt. They never meant to be together, they like ice and fire in terms of love and passion.
Sumin was very passionate and immature back then, that why she was unable to forgive Seju at that time. Seju is calm and dedicated but immature and spoiled in her own way, and she do have complicated and bad family surrounding, because of that she did that stupid angry mistake, and she started to be fully mature only in the end of the main story. Her going away from Sumin is mature decision. So she can’t go back, she needs to forgive herself and be free, happy again. She can do better. But right now she still can’t do it. I hope she can, lol.
About rebound relationships. I see this story about themes and not about realism. So it’s ok if they work out for the themes. I like angsty stories, but I do like to see future in them and not some dead end.
And I like some nods to the main story. Like Wonnie said that she doesn’t have Inferiority complex, lol. There are some unknown things about Do Won too and about her feelings. Ah, I hope there will be enough time for smooth transitions.

^Maybe Sumin done a second one after? She had time for that, lol. But, yeah, it's intresting.
So, is it her brother came to play baseball with Seju like in good old times? Damn, I want Seju move to Wonnie that calling her unnie and them be happy already, lol.
This chapter I like. I wonder if there will be enough time for addressing issues with parents.
Lazy and simple is not the same thing. For me it’s not so important how original, surprising or complex story is when it’s good. When webtoon have good art and writing. And I hope that One will be longer than Paradise.
eikichi00, yeah, I agree.
Wow, I like how this manga is going. Really natural pacing and characters.
Yeah, I like this version more too. I hope that anime will be close to this mood.
I think Won ex can be dead and if not, she still have hard time after running away. And I think this is why background characters in recent chapters are so nice to her and not only because she so friendly. Helping Seju can make her more ok and if they want relationships there a long way to go. But dunno, maybe not, lol.
And I think that narratively speaking Sumin and Seju end game never meant to be, there are too much between them in past and present. But I‘ll be happy to see in the future, in one of the announced side stories that they can be friends and that they have warm feelings about each other. It’s like the ultimate end of toxic circle boss, lol.

Maybe. Yes, with decision to close up Seju’s arс there are some expected things and turns, but they handled mostly good in my opinion. There is attention to detail and “show, don’t tell” which is good storytelling. Slow burn is about forming relationship without overblown events and feelings. I really like in this regard Fluttering feelings. It makes me sad to this day that their author died so young. To the topic, maybe I read too many really badly written yuri, so I think this is nice story. And maybe I just like Seju, lol. And Wonnie too have my sympathy.
Yes, change of the location is nice. Somewhat summary chapter with red ears, lol.
Well, maybe I just don’t see a big difference in the parts of the story. Main story is a predictable romance, like from chapter 1. The richness of the events, some characters and good toxic circle are what done this story interesting. Sweetness of Paradise was in their feelings of first love and overcoming problems in their life until some point, which is more pronounced in the flashbacks in main story. With One it’s much more slow burn, without additional problems for now, but still in the vein of original story in my opinion.
I have different understanding of dark themes, lol. But it's ok. And I too wouldn’t mind to see new stories from them in the future.
^Amane handles this situation rather poorly and she is obnoxious, which is understandable. But if Nene and Kou wanted to do a mere decent thing they can talk like normal people about it. Together, with place and time more suitable for this. Yes, it still will hurt Amane to some extent, but good talk and space after that is way better than this cruelty. Amane is started to let go of Nene, like in conversation with senpai. But author wanted to show another thing and not ok Nene actions.
last edited at Jun 26, 2019 8:15AM
I don't think she really mean to hurt Kou directly. On that point i think she really love Kou because she think Kou can provide all the attention that Amane seem to lack from Nene's perpective. She is hurting Kou but it's mostly for hurting more Amane.
Oh no, she done it intentionaly. Author wanted to show that she clearly pressed Kou into relationships knowing that Kou is too soft to refuse. And then she selfishly continued using Kou softness for her plan to hurt Amane so much that she cannot be around them anymore. In this situation she don’t care what Kou wants because she never talk to her about it or ask her “Is it ok?”
