I want to know who Kashikaze's mentor is................

the fact Shimamura is not in love with Adachi yet is a pretty big flag for issues

I would argue that Shimamura is in love with her and just hasn't rationalized it yet. She didn't accept Adachi's confession lightly and put a lot of thought into it, but that's simply her nature as someone who analyzes her interactions with other people in (perhaps excessive) detail. The mere fact that she accepted it despite her being someone who keeps others at a safe distance to avoid being bothered is a sign she's willing to let Adachi challenge the way she is. It's worth noting that she thought back to how she loved Gon and that she reasoned that falling in love with someone is abrupt and not the result of a calculated process; while she fell in love with Gon when she was a kid and still acted mostly based on instinct, now she's letting Adachi get close the same way despite how much more complex her way of thinking has become. She has no frame of reference for falling in love with someone outside of a dog from her childhood, so she doesn't realize that under all her contemplations, the process is still the same.

Yeah if someone wants to argue that the way Shimamura feels now - Adachi being the one person Shimamura is willing to inconvenience herself over time and time again, someone she admires, someone who's "painted pink by never-ending fireworks" in her mind's eye, the one person Shimamura seems even willing to consider having as her sole social focus - isn't love, they're welcome to do so, but I'm going to respond by suggesting that they might be overthinking things.

Doesn't mean they won't have rocky patches or anything like that down the road of course, but Shimamura clearly feels more strongly for Adachi than she does for anyone else.

Probably my favorite lines in these chapters. Really great.

The way Shimamura processes finally having Adachi's feelings right out in the open with no obfuscation has been an absolute delight in general, IMO. Some of the best writing in the entire franchise. The balance she strikes between being analytical to a fault while still showcasing obvious, genuine warmth for Adachi is SO good.

I don't think we're ending next chapter, but I suspect we're pulling towards an off-ramp. Wouldn't be shocked if the next full volume is the last, which would give us 5 chapters left.

Important Point: I am speculating.

No, the magazine itself definitely ran - I bought raws hoping to get a sneak peak of the new chapter, lol

She did an art stream tonight, tho, so she's definitely still fine and working on the manga. Maybe we'll finally pick back up this month?

I'm going to be really curious to know what happens to Tarumi when Adachi and Shimamura finally start dating. I mean, we know from book summaries that that happens starting next volume, and I can't see Tarumi taking that super well, and yet I also don't see any obvious angle for the story to take with her doing anything about it. So is she just, like...gonna go away? Feels like a story arc that needs closing but I'm not sure how we close it from here...

What a good chapter, holy shit. All the Shimamura insight I'd been wanting and then some.

They're such good kids.........

Anybody hear anything about why we didn't get a chapter last month? I don't think one ran in the magazine and Hagino hasn't tweeted in a bit....

Thanks for the TL, Sneik!

I'm so curious to see how Shimamura reacts to Adachi's now-inevitable confession. We're painting such an interesting picture here with all of her aimlessness and the difficulty she has feeling things or connecting to people strongly and the quiet anxiety she has about all of that. Her mixture of confusion and trepidation thinking about Adachi's big blowup was really fascinating.

Going to be very curious how the upcoming chapter goes now that we've seemingly addressed the manga's core conflict....

Thank you Sneik, making Quarantine much more bearable

Shimamura isn't as loudly charming as Adachi and all of her Disaster Gay powers, but I've grown very fond of her honestly. Her loneliness takes on a different tenor than Adachi's in an interesting way that's sympathetic in her own right, and the way she thinks of and looks after Adachi without even altogether realizing she's doing so is really sweet. They'll make each other really happy once they realize they're compatible.

I mean, even before this whole blowup/makeup, Shimamura's been growing visibly fonder of Adachi for a while, even in her own perspective. Remember how the last volume ended with her just gazing fondly at Adachi during idle moments in class and monologuing to herself about how much she likes looking at Adachi? Or all the times she's straight up said how much she likes using Adachi as a lap pillow? Or how she'll be thinking about Adachi when Tarumi's trying to take her on a date? Shimamura's spacy and distant and odd in some ways, but it's clear that she's fond of Adachi in a way that she isn't with other people.

On their wedding day: "Wait, when did I agree to get married? Oh well, calling it off now sounds troublesome."

Putting like that, Shima sound like Kasumi from Futaribeya.

Shima IS very Kasumi-like insofar as her very lackadaisical approach to a lot of things, lol

I'm SO excited for us to finally get to Actual Dating Content and see how Shimamura processes things.

They're going to be having their first kiss and Shimamura's going to be thinking all "huh, I wonder why Adachi's tongue is halfway down my throat. Is my little sister going to start doing this too??"

joined Jan 25, 2017

I'll be fairly surprised if that isn't exactly what happens.

I actually really like Adachi going "nah actually I really don't like most other people and I'm different from Shimamura that way and I'm okay with that." Self-awareness and self-acceptance are important.

Do we know if he’s still planning on writing more? It’s been a while since volume 8 with no updates AFAIK

Sheesh, and here I was eagerly waiting for a big reveal Shinamura chapter so we can finally find out what she's been going through, and instead we get nothing. Like yeah OK so we get Adachi yelling about loving Shinamura, but Adachi's finally come to terms with having a crush on Shinamura like, 8 times now! I even complained about that LAST time we had an ending like that, lol.

Saying it out loud's a pretty important step tho, tbf. And I'm pretty sure she's set on actually confessing now.

LET clap ADACHI clap KISS clap HER clap CRUSH clap

Edit: Also, I was looking through that imgur album of all the novels' illustrations, and looking at next volume's (minor spoilers?): There's a lot of Shimamura in there. I wonder if next volume will be as heavy on her perspective as this one was on Adachi's? Would make a lot of sense, I'm pretty sure we basically know what Adachi's headspace is gonna be like from now until she confesses.

There is also something else that confused me. When Adachi call Shimamura back, Shimamura call her Sakura butas far as i remember she pratically never call her Sakura before beside when she found about her name. Not only that but Adachi seem barely surprised about it and Shimamura go back to calling her Adachi after that. So why did she call her Sakura all of a sudden ?

Yeah that's one of the things I'm unsure about and wanna see Shima's input on. My best guess is that, as casual as Shima likes to paint herself as being, she was still worried about what kind of state Adachi was in when she called her, and decided to take the unusually intimate step of calling her by her first name to make her feel better, but, uh, I'm not near 100 percent sure on that.

Yeah I was thrown at first but the more I think about it the more I like it. We've known all this time that if there's one thing Shimamura absolutely is not inclined to do, it's take any initiative in her relationships with other people. For her, if Adachi wants to go back to acting how she normally does and not specifically try to address that rant, then that's much easier as far as Shimamura is concerned. Honestly, even for her to suggest that Adachi should get some other friends and indirectly imply that she doesn't want to hear another rant like that is pretty forward by her standards.

But yeah there's some holes in the details that will be much easier for me to fill once we have another chapter in her perspective.

I forgot to mention it when the chapter was released, but Kinka Bridge is actually a real place. Here's where it's located, in case anyone's curious: https://goo.gl/maps/QiJox2cEGPKHbYKY7

The next chapter is pretty long. I'm currently trying to have it out before the 20th.

Thanks, Sneik!

If this came from a 20 year old, then yeah, that girl needs therapy. But Adachi is a child. She needs guidance and advice so she can learn the right lessons.

In fairness, that’s part of what therapy is for
