I think they're definitely gonna get together and we just need to have some in-between stuff to show that they're actually into each other so that it's not instaromance. I think this arc is all about Aya slowly realizing she likes Mitsuki. I mean it's not the most straightforward thing when you're in high school in a culture that isn't so open about homosexuality. And I think that Mitsuki being singled out for being different is a bit of a comparison to that as well.
As for the author saying it's not yuri I think she's probably referring to the typical all girls school yuri where everyone's gay and into each other. I think she means that we need to move away from yuri tropes and things like that and look at actual stories of gay women. I'm not sure how prevalent this is for yuri but for example yaoi in Japan is mostly just a fluffy fantasy for straight women. I get the feeling most yuri is a bit like that too and she doesn't want to get lumped in with that.

This put a smile on my face and made me wanna get out of bed. I love how they tackle real issues like corkplace homophobia and such. I love manga but gee I'm starting to grow out of the moe thing.

Add in cultures where being openly queer is still an incredibly dicey prospect, and I get why Hiroko would not only dismiss Ayaka's signals as being that platonic intimacy, but why she'd want them to be so. Hiroko is clearly attracted to Ayaka, but has multiple reasons (even setting aside spoilers) why she'd feel like Ayaka reciprocating would actually be a lot more trouble than it's worth. She keeps acting like Ayaka isn't sincere because, I think, there's a part of her that really wishes that were true.

Yeah I think the age gap is mentioned because of this also. She feels wrong to actually make a move on Ayaka and have it progress to something more and then having to keep like a secret office romance I think.
It's relieving for me to see that Hiroko doesn't get it because the alternative would be her getting it or suspecting it and still ignoring Ayaka in an attempt to keep her straight persona at work intact. So for me this is funny. Like if this was realistic it would be so much more frustrating and she'd be definitely unlikable haha.
I've been in Ayaka’s position in a way, sort of? I mean not really but... Of not being sure whether someone is gay or straight while trying to think of some over the top obvious way to let them know I'm interested without being all like "I like you!" and putting the person on the spot. I mean usually based on statistics the person will be straight lol so the sad reality would be that Ayaka would be kind of delusional to keep it going for so long haha... Well, for me it's like a wish fulfillment fantasy, it's pretty cool to see Ayaka’s antics and then Hiroko's actual internal monologue.

Yeah I have a feeling the weirdness is intentional. Like it's a foreshadowing for something but I'm not sure what yet. Even they way it's drawn and the narration over top give off an ominous vibe lol

I think it's a reference. There's another, unrelated, manga called sayonara daisy which probably references the same thing.

To be honest I'm much more frustrated with the typical, all girls yuri where men don't exist and everyone is gay for some weird reason like straight people don't exist lol. I mean I guess it's fine but it annoys me that all the difficulties queer people go through are brushed off in those stories. I think it's more of a dramedy, somehow. It makes me smile but and I love it but I don't find it super funny. It just makes me wonder what sort of thing Ayaka will do next to try to get Hiroko haha. I love seeing Hiroko flustered because she thinks it's accidental haha. Idk maybe I'm weird. But yeah, it's not supposed to be exactly funny I think.

I'm still enjoying it, tbh. Ayaka's struggle as a straight-passing lesbian with such a strongly misunderstood reputation, is... actually surprisingly relatable? It may just be unique personal experience talking here, but this honestly doesn't feel that hard to suspend my disbelief. Even the bathroom scene happened while she was extremely drunk, so yanno, it's easy to dismiss her actions. Idk. This was one of the rare series I favorited on chapter 1 because I'm so confident in its direction, and so far it hasn't let me down.

I've been through dumb heartbreaks and honestly much better to poke fun of them like this instead of taking them seriously lol. I think the tonal contrast really funny, especially how Hiroko is totally into her and in deep denial. Yeah ok, this chapter is kinda wacky I was so confused with the conclusions she draws but believe me it gets better lol.

Yeah I guess senior but that's not very convenient either haha. I mean there's contracts in some companies stating you can't even date a regular coworker. And they mention she's super in the closet at work (understandable in Japan I guess? Though maybe the past few years it's more accepted, not sure).
But yeah she definitely believes the rumors lol, which is kinda dumb but I think it's more a defense mechanism to convince herself to stay neutral haha.
And at the end of the day, you have to get to know a girl a bit before you blurt out that you like her "in that way", otherwise you'll end up in some really awkward conversation because if she's not queer she'll definitely be caught off guard. Except when you live somewhere where people are familiar with LGBT so then it's fine to just say it.

She gets the vibes but she denies them because if she makes a move and Ayaka turns out to be straight then Hiroko will be in deep trouble at work. So of course she's freaked out. But yeah really it's exaggerated for gags. But then again if you think of it a boss making a move on one of her juniors is pretty sketchy and even being together isn't the best... haha. So of course Ayaka has to be super over the top obvious.

Well, maybe not quite grooming but definitely weird. I guess since she says she'll wait I'm less uneasy with it now but I still think Omichi's kinda wacked lol... That being said she seems a bit too naive regarding sex and stuff so idk. I can see her growing out of it, realistically speaking but since this is a manga they'll probably get married in 10 years or some dumb thing like that.
Also depends on if Rin really is 11-12 and not like 9 or sth. Big difference there lol...

Demons disguising themselves so as to appear human... what if Elsa is actually a demon?? But she was left there by her parents who sealed her powers somehow and she doesn't remember? Could be possible, would explain the strange wolf attack.

Sigh... Omichi being all badum around the little girl is uncomfortable. The little girl having a crush on Hino isn't a problem but like, why do we need this side plot? I'm used to lolis in manga by now but seriously if they weren't there my life would be so much better. Same goes for weird sexist tropes in shoujo manga.
