so does this get updated irregularly? or are the translations just releasing irregularly? it's been ages since the last chapter.

I think most of the people who are annoyed by this comic came because it said Tomboy in the tags and are annoyed that they got a comic that challenged them. I noticed a similar response to Sisters Yuri. People demanding all sorts of tags--like Tragedy--when honestly Comedy would have been a better choice. It might be time to reevaluate things if you are getting worked up over a one shot not playing into your favorite trope.

Yoshii gained a little bit of Toda's cuteness. She always had it in her. She will grow out her hair.
Toda gained a little bit of Yoshii's coolness. She always had it in her. She will see school as less suffocating now.

Helping Yoshii open up about wanting to be cute helped Toda open up about her hobby as well.

They help each other be more themselves. I think that's brilliant.

I agree entirely. I think this manga is about girls helping each other to express themselves the way they want, rather than letting their classmates decide how they should behave and dress. All women are great, no matter how they want to present themselves, but Yoshii clearly felt like she had to present more masculine because of her body and the way she was treated. ("I'm too tall," "The boys' uniform fits me better," etc.) I don't think this comic is intolerant in any way, it is about being yourself despite environmental/social pressures. I think it is just as much about empowering women who want to present more masculine as it is women who want to present more feminine.

I don't get the base behind these kinds of manga, tomboys are tomboys for a reason and if they wanted to dress up cute, they would dress up cute. Sometimes you just need to do what you want to do without thinking about what people think about you.

"Tomboys are tomboys for a reason" -- in this case the reason isn't that she wanted to be a tomboy, but everyone around her told her she was better as one. People who are constantly told who they are by others will eventually come to believe it. Yoshii thinks that she can't be herself because of that pressure. ("You're too tall," "your boobs are too small," "your short haircut suits you," "you look like a boy," etc.) If you think it is so easy to just dress however you want, you clearly have never experienced pressure like this.

Wait, no! I was only be seeking pleasure from being stepped on...
I shouldn't even be thinking of myself!! I should just do what tsunamino-sensei would like!!

A girl in my school used to do stuff like this to me ("forcing" me to do something, teasing me, etc) I told her I didn't liked it but to be honest.. I did :/ It was weird and felt wrong but I didn't cared. After some time she stopped and.. I kinda miss it...

Damn I'm weird

it's not weird. just embrace it (safely). you will thank yourself that you did.

This is the face of a girl entering subspace.

Subspace is the altered psychological state of being that is often represented by actions, feelings, thoughts and images brought on by adrenaline and endorphin waves and spikes that may occur during a scene.

After the last few chapters I went back and reread everything with a D/s relationship in mind, and noticed that Koguma has probably been in subspace by the end of most of the chapters, after allowing Hino to dominate her. (Despite Koguma's resistance, she's not actually being forced/tricked into anything.)

In chapter 2 Hino kabedons Koguma and tries to get her to say exactly what she had thought she submitted to in chapter 1. She struggles to say it, and once Hino relents, thinking she might be going too far, Koguma grabs her shirt to stop her from leaving. Because Koguma wants to made say it. Being explicit about her lewd thoughts, because someone else made her, feels good. (Thoughts she probably feels ashamed for having.)

In chapter 6 after submitting to Hino touching her body, and basically begging for more, Koguma says:

"I feel so weird"

Here Koguma is probably having an intense physical reaction to assuming her submissive role. Sure she is turned on, but she's probably also unable to think clearly, tingling all over, face feeling hot, vision a bit hazy, etc. Having experienced subspace I can say that it could easily feel like you've been drugged with some sort of aphrodisiac. It can be an overwhelming experience.

In most of those pictures her eyes are glazed over and only half open. That's the face of a girl who loves feeling forced to do something that she actually really wants to do, (but probably can't admit to herself).

Prediction: Koguma will agree to being tied up/bound before the end of this series.

@sylke thank you so fucking much for the list!!! i'm going to put it to good use. :D

also @nya-chan i see you in the threads for basically every yuri i've read and i don't think i've ever seen you say anything positive... curious what you actually like?

Nya-chan posted:

But it's not really clear if she's trans.

It's clear as day.

Yeah, it's all pretty common trans experience stuff. Wonder if the author is trans, or if they just did an uncommon amount of research.

as a transgender person, it seems like the author is trans or has close trans friends. whatever it may be, they're presenting things in a way that has resonated with basically all of my various queer friends. trans, wlw etc.

Bonuses too lewd to be translated. Might as well leave them here too since half of them are for this series.

if you need help with 'em, point me in the right direction and i'd be happy to clean and typeset.

I didn't know about this one having only gotten into yuri recently. Flew through the whole thing tonight and enjoyed it quite a bit.

While I'm very glad more yuri is getting adapted, there isn't really all that much "woke" yuri to make into anime.

I really appreciate that Japan is being very progressive and accepting of same sex relationships. They are not hateful or scared like American animation studios. I am waiting for a possible Legend of Korra remake with a full on Korrasami pairing and a better written plot.

I'm not sure "Japan is so progressive" is exactly the right way to put it. They seem to be culturally aware of homosexuality, but in many cases not take it super seriously.

There's lots of: "oh they're just in high school, so they're in a phase, it'll pass." Also, it's not exactly easy to find yuri where the characters outright say that they are lesbians: "I mean she's a girl, but I still like her anyway." Nor are we often shown successful long term gay relationships as we've been starting to see in "western" stuff (i.e. gay moms/dads, etc (especially in cartoons like SU and She-Ra)). I also feel like in almost every yuri with a sex scene at least one girl has to protest a bit; which I think is more about Japan's view of how women should behave than an interpretation of lesbians.

Yaoi/BL is it's own version of not being all that positive. I mean the word "fujoshi" alone says a lot...

Fragtime seems lighthearted and doesn't really tip the scale in either way. I like that the narration in the end clearly stated "now that I came out as a lesbian." I don't need everything to be some dark depressing story of the painful side of being gay, I'd just like to see more work that is unapologetic about being GAY get published/adapted. Showing some positive cute gay couples goes a long way towards acceptance and normalization. I'm hoping that comics like what Kabi Nagata's been putting out will push the genre in the right direction.

i'm just happy that this is updating pretty regularly, excited to see how it turns out. i think i'll be ok with whatever as long as they all get to be gay in the end.

really don't want to wade into any arguing, i'll just say that as a trans girl, i'm definitely enjoying this one. nice to see any manga, let alone a yuri, where a trans girl is accepted as a woman by the author and some of the characters right away. All too often is trans stuff a mess of misgendering and bad jokes.

i do think that hime crossdressing to try to make things easier for akira is a bit off base. like, unless hime is transgender, that behavior is just reducing the validity of akira coming out. especially when it looks like there will be a lot of hurdles for her, regarding acceptance. "look, i'm doing it too, so deal with it" might make it seem to some that neither of them is serious about being treated the way they want. hopefully things will work out. :)

very excited to see more of this one.

Like someone said earlier... it's porn. It doesnt have to have deep character motivations and logic. There are ways to critically analyze porn, yeah, but usually one of them is not "the emotional dynamics of this relationship aren't consistent." If you don't want to see some R-rated lesbian sex with a loose framework about cohabiting co-workers, probably not the series for you.

i honestly don't expect this from 99% of yuri. it's not exactly a genre full of woke authors writing about healthy relationships. i just overlook what i can, and enjoy the nice parts. i'll put up with incest, weird power dynamics, etc, etc, if its cute enough. it's just so common for yuri to have at least one thing that bothers me, that i've gotten to the point where i just try to get what i can out of it.

that said there are some authors writing top tier stuff, but its not exactly common. (ie nakatani nio, tmfly)

You guys joke about it, but knowing Nakatani Nio, there is a very high probability that she has at least fleshed out their relationship in her head (whatever it might be). The continuity and detail in this comic is beyond pretty much any other yuri I've read. So many characters that I assumed were just one offs, or mindless background characters have had some development. So many other mangakas would never give thought to the design of someone who pops in for a panel or two, but in this comic, we expect it. We're really spoiled by the effort she puts in to make this comic as wonderful as it is.

I really want to get to know the girls on the final panel of this page:

i cry during every chapter now. this month was pretty okay though. feel bad for sayaka, blaming herself, saying that yuu took advantage of her silence. touko just chose the way she did because she's touko. its touko's fault for not noticing sayaka in the first place. i suppose if she'd made herself more out of reach touko might have fallen for her instead.

ahhhh, i just want everyone to be happy. i guess the three of them would probably make a pretty cute poly trio. i can see sayaka and yuu teaming up to get revenge on touko for all her bossiness. :P

from the description and first few chapters i did not expect this no be nearly as intense. cried a lot, but enjoyed it. this was honestly much more forward thinking about trans folks than i expected.
