There's a difference between "not fluff" and "unhappy ending".

Except that this "what an awful story" parade happens in everything but. Sugar coating every story with a happy ending doesn't change reality so it's nice to see an alternate once and a while. Obviously not everyone agrees.

That, and a lot of people don't understand that not liking something doesn't automatically mean that thing is bad.

Took me so long to find this. The first time I read it I should have added it to my "favorites" right then. Darn. Anyway, after searching so long I decided this story doesn't have enough tags (and for that matter, the "Foiled Rape Attempt" tag seems to be kind of heavy).

It seems pretty appropriate when a character's only recourse against their "lover's" unwanted sexual advances is a boot to the chest.

I think it's kinda obviously destined to be non-romantic yuri. Ayari is just figuring out what it's like to be able to be open and herself around others, and it's sweet that she's able to make those small steps with a sister that was sorta thrust upon her and so different. Bonding through food is the best. XD

First time I saw Ben Ten: I didn't know they were cousins. The longer I watched it the more I wondered if the creators knew they were cousins. I checked FF.net and no one cared that they were cousins.

It's weird seeing Western games featured more prominently in a manga series. Seeing a Psycho mask, AssCreed, Bioshock Big Daddy figure, etc is unexpected.

That's what drew me into the series the most.

Yeah, I wouldn't hesitate to say Seol-a is sexually attracted to No-rae, but I (begrudgingly) don't have enough evidence to claim the reciprocal.

I say No-rae is probably bi- or demi- romantic/sexual (I forget whether she's ever explicitly exhibited sexual attraction towards Seol-a), and there are a lot of different places Seol-a can be written into depending on how she feels about her previous relationships.

I'd argue while it's not necessarily good it doesn't mean no good can come from it at least. Even though their relationship has had that sort of development she's decided to stay with her. So even if she no longer currently feels anything for her other than an obligation or duty it's still possible for her to find something she loves regardless.

I don't hold out hope for sensei finding a new reason to love Maho. The memory of what she had fallen in love with will stay with her, and it will dull any other romantic interest that she may try to develop for Maho down the line.

I'm with telamon: the relationship is incredibly unhealthy and will only get worse over time. The best course of action for both of them would be to end it as soon as possible. Breaking up now would still go badly, but it would be less bad than kicking the can down the road.

However a breakup would have to be initiated by sensei, and her ending monologue has her specifically stating she won't do that. So the relationship will sustain itself on nothing but intertia until Maho catches on to sensei's feelings - or lack thereof - and one way or another it will come to an ugly, unpleasant end.

Maho wanted a lover and needed a parent. Sensei couldn't decide which one she wanted to be, and in trying to become both she ended up becoming neither.

Sensei has resigned herself to a perpetuate a loveless, one-sided, relationship with an underaged girl that will inevitably inflict long-lasting emotional and psychological damage on the both of them.

Hint: It's a very, very bad ending.

Agreed. There's no way for the relationship to last in the state that it's in, and there's no conceivable exit strategy that will allow it to end well. It's something that will fuck up Maho for the rest of her life. I would say that it will fuck up sensei, too, but as you find out over the course of the story, she already is.

The title is actually quite clever.
