Meaning aside, considering the earlier conversation about flowers here, they're likely used as signature flowers for these two characters similarly to the ones mentioned earlier for the main couple.

While Mr. White Knight's choice of words, describing her as pitiful, was very poor (insert Joker from The Dark Knight meme here), he wasn't necessarily referring to her being a lesbian, but probably to her being ostracized and bullied – in other words: her suffering.

Honestly, in this case, no. Considering that he's addressing the bullies, the way I see it, the argument is clearly not that she's pitiful because she's being bullied by them, but that the reason they shouldn't bully her is because "she's so pitiful" - and the one thing that makes her so pitiful in the eyes of the bigots where she lives, including her family, is her being gay.

I honestly can't see Miko as the endgame - especially not after the revelations this time. Less about her age, Shiori may be similarly ancient, but about her having watched over not just her entire life, but also of her parents. She's simply not a romantic option but rather a mostly nice grandma protecting her family.

Shit like this creeps me out and then the comments calling it 'cute' creep me out even more. Y'all give way too much of a pass to things just cause it's two female characters instead of a grown man and an underage girl (which brings up another problem: fetishization of lesbian relationships, treating them all as inherently 'pure' and so on).

Not at all, and it would make no difference at least for me if it was a straight couple. What makes this better than not just the creepy fans you mentioned but also most similar age gap pairings is that it's solely the younger one doing the pursuing, and the older one is doing all she can to pretend not to be interested as long as it would bring them legal trouble. It's not even about the younger girl being underage - which I'm not even sure she is at this point - it's her job that's causing more problems here, otherwise there might be nothing actually stopping them in this case.

Now the real question is "Why are none of these sci-fi stories? Why do none of the protagonists get mecha?!"

It's certainly more rare than the usual fantasy stories, but there does exist some sci-fi isekai as well, e.g. Reborn as a Space Mercenary.
