This is yet another one where unfortunately, the original doesn't appear to be available anymore and all that can be found are reposts by other people.

Oh, don't mind how I bolded Nezchan's username. I always bold usernames in sentences, because some usernames are not capitalized and/or are just normal words, like "winter" or "none", and blend into the sentences.

Also, it would seem that this habit is not exclusively mine. I've seen a few others here do that, probably for the same reasons.

aletto:

What I'm trying to say is, if you had suggestions to make it better, you should've posted them. I don't see how that'd be presumptuous. This thread is meant to help people and it isn't exactly intellectual property. Posting a rewritten version of the original post gives off the impression, at least to me, that said original post wasn't satisfactory for whatever reason.
I apologise if you feel offended.

No, don't worry, no offense taken.

As for "if you had suggestions to make it better, you should've posted them", well, that's kind of what I did?

For the "not satisfactory" part, I suppose you're right in the sense that I found that the original post wasn't "satisfactory" but I am only speaking only for myself. It's probably totally fine for others. I mean, nobody has complained so far. (I did notice a few times that some people in threads didn't know or had trouble with some of the markdown, mostly how to post images, but they might not have looked at this thread at all.)

That's all I meant for the "presumptuous" bit. It's simply that I wouldn't assume that how I wrote it must somehow be "better" for everyone just because that's how I prefer it. Like I said, if admin people or mod s happen to like it, then maybe they could integrate the changes to the first post. But again, that's totally up to them, and I am not at all pushing for that nor was I expecting them to do that.

kchao:

[...]
Lastly, I'm not quite sure if it's possible, but how would we be able to stream bought chapters on iOS devices with translation to English?

halmoni:

[...]
I don't know if overlay is possible on mobile devices. I haven't tried it myself, but maybe someone else has. I do know however that if you want to read WDFS on your phone, you'll need to use a internet app (chrome, safari, etc.) to go onto Lezhin, and not the Lezhin app itself (the app doesn't have 19+ rated manhwa).

kchao:

I actually have the Lezhin app on my phone and can read the raw versions of all the chapters I have bought!

Ah, so you can actually see 19+ series in the app?

kchao:

Just wondering how one would put the overlay through mobile, but I guess that will hopefully be created in the future.

OK, for the topic of Overtooning in a mobile browser (as in Chrome, Safari on a phone or tablet, not the Lezhin mobile app)...

I haven't documented or mentioned this on bit.do/ffovertoon, because although I had once done a few tests to use Overtooning in a mobile browser for the FF series, it was rather inconclusive. Also, I only did it in Chrome on one device, an Android phone, but I couldn't check for other setups, such as Android tablets, iPhones, iPad, Safari instead of Chrome, so on.

But anyway, if you wish, you can attempt these steps in your mobile browser. Note that though I wrote these steps from looking at Chrome on Android, Chrome on iOS should be pretty much identical, and even Safari on iOS should be fairly similar.

1) Go to bit.do/ffovertoon.
2) Long tap the "Translate" bookmarklet link > Copy link address
3) Bookmark any page; could be that "ffovertoon" page. You bookmark by pressing on the "..." menu at the top right, then tapping on the star icon.
4) In the "URL" field for the bookmark you're about to add, select all the text that's in there and delete it all. Then Paste. You should see some code (gibberish for normal people :3 ) pasted in the textbox.
5) For the "Name" field, you can put anything. For this example, I will put "TRANSLATE".
6) Save
7) Now, go to the Lezhin website.
8) On the Lezhin website, load the page of a chapter.
9) While the page of the chapter is still open, tap the address bar, then type in the address bar "TRANSLATE".
10) You should see that bookmark that you just added in the autocomplete list. Tap that entry in the list.
The list should close and you see the page again. After a few seconds, you should see the overlay translation appear.

... OK, so here's where it went wrong for me, lawl. Though the overlay translation would successfully load into the page... after a few seconds, Chrome would crash. Now, keep in mind when I did this test, it was for FF. Also, I only tried it about 2-3 times, although the browser app would indeed always crash after a few seconds. It might be that my phone isn't powerful enough (not enough RAM maybe) and can't handle the awesomeness of Overtooning. :3

As I said, I didn't get the opportunity to test on other devices. So... if you feel like trying it out, be my guest. I'm also curious if this would work smoothly on other mobile devices.

Edit:
... Or alternatively, check out the post right above for the instructions from the Odd Squad site... Should've just checked on the Odd Squad site before typing all that up. 3:

I think it would've been better to ask the OP or even Nez to edit it. It's unlikely people will scroll past the first post [...]

True, I totally agree that most people will only look at the first post of the sticky. But as I said, it was mostly for my own purposes.

Also, I'm not presumptuous enough to ask/tell the OP or Nezchan to update the original post with my "way better" version or something.

They can do so if they wish or if they deem it appropriate, but that's up to them.

[...] and I feel like yours detracts from their work a bit.

I don't really see how it can "detract" from their work... In the end, it's just a reply in the thread, just like any other...

1. Check if we've actually translated the chapter.
- You can easily tell because translated chapters (which is only 1 for now) will have chapter titles in English, like so
http://i.imgur.com/SnCgiXA.png

This is probably obvious, but you'll see the translated chapter titles only once you click the bookmarklet. However, if you have the addon installed, you will see the translated chapter titles right away.

This is mostly for my own usage. But if it happens to be useful to others, then so much the better.

It's just a personal preference, but I prefer seeing an example of the exact code rather than a description of how to do it. I feel that an example usually says it all. Kind of like "an example is worth a thousand words."

For instance, I know that this part confused me a bit the first time I attempted to put an image in a post:

This is a hyperlink. You need to surround link text in [], and link target in ().
[...]
Image is similar, but you need to start with ! And text doesn't really matter.

I prefer simply seeing an example:
![](http://s4.postimg.org/g5k6wbrfx/brand_0eda80fc2ae3436877f681344de65a9c.png)

Also, the original post was missing a few, like strikethrough, as well as little details, such as what needs a blank line above, so on. Again, this was mainly for myself, but who knows, maybe it'll also help someone else out there.

Cheat Sheet

Here is a quick cheat sheet of the markdown.
It's ordered according to what I think is the most frequently used.
The format is simply the code followed by the result, except for a few that needs to be explained in words.

> quoted text

quoted text

Note that a line directly under a quoted line will also be quoted. This often results in accidentally quoted text.

> quoted text
text that isn't meant to be quoted

quoted text
text that isn't meant to be quoted

To avoid this, put a blank line after the quoted text.

*italic* or _italic_
italic or italic

**bold**
bold

**_bold and italic_** or __*bold and italic*__ or ***bold and italic*** or ___bold and italic___
bold and italic or bold and italic or bold and italic or bold and italic

~~strikethrough~~
strikethrough

==spoiler text==
spoiler text
Note to self:
Had to use an invisible character in the first line, because == cannot be escaped properly with a backslash, such that it ended up being displayed like this \==.

The following is for a link with no custom label.
Just put an address/URL that starts with www, http:// or https://.
www.example.com
http://example.com
https://example.com
example.com --> Note that this doesn't work because it doesn't start with any of those.

[link with custom label](http://example.com)
link with custom label

***

The above was a horizontal ruler.

0. Numbered list item
0. Numbered list item

  1. Numbered list item
  2. Numbered list item

Note that the line above the first list item must be blank. Also note that the number you put doesn't actually matter; it will always enumerate 1, 2, 3...

* Unnumbered list item
* Unnumbered list item

  • Unnumbered list item
  • Unnumbered list item

Note that the line above the first list item must be blank.

`tag`
tag

[4 SPACES HERE]code block

code block

Note that the line above the code block line must be blank.

# heading 1

heading 1

## heading 2

heading 2

Alternatively, you can make a heading 2 by putting a - on the line below the text.
heading 2

heading 2

### heading 3

heading 3

#### heading 4

heading 4

Warning: Overuse of headings might result in beheadings. Use at own risk.

"What Does the Fox Say art" thread:

Obviously, unlike the "What Does the Fox Say discussion" thread, discussion in that thread is strictly forbidden and is punishable by catapult.

You can always create Dropbox for all Fanarts, just saying :D

I personally prefer to use image hosting so that it can be posted on webpages inline. That way, people can just view it on the Web rather than having to go to a page, download them, then open them on their computer.

sometimes even if Direct Link textbox won't appear (even if image isn't HUGE and not resized) you also can open it with that /image/dahdkjsahd link and then get direct link to them by right click ;)

Ah, but just to clarify one thing...

I'm not sure if by "direct link", you mean to get the actual URL of the full size image.

The thing to watch out for is that if you try to hotlink that full size image, it won't actually work. Or rather, it will not work... for some people. It's quite strange, really.

You the uploader will probably be able to see the hotlinked image for some strange reason. (I think they temporarily whitelist the IP address of the uploader. Not sure at all. Just a guess.) But for anybody else, that full size image will be a broken image.

This is what happened the other time when you noticed that one of my images was broken. I had gone back and rehosted all images with Postimage.org and thought I could forcibly hotlink huge "unhotlinkable" images. While on the Internet network where I uploaded the image, I could see the hotlinked image, but if I switch Internet network, the image was no longer loaded in the page.

Alextasha:

Unfortunately, I couldn't rehost the full size image, as Postimage.org refuses to upload the image without resizing it. (This is one of the rare occasions where Postimage.org cannot upload an image as is.) So to get the original full size version, use the above original URL.

Grab the link :)

http://postimg.org/image/pty8yluel/full/

You should use first link no second :)

http://s29.postimg.org/9jkz65w13/234.png

when it opens, click on it and it will show "full" view

Ah, I see.

Actually, it's strange. Sometimes, when I upload a huge image (larger than 1 MB), it would simply not display the "Direct Link". I thought that this is how I can tell when an image is too large and simply cannot be hotlinked.

But then, other times, it does gives you a "Direct Link" but it's in fact a resized image, and you have to know to go to the postimg.org/image/a_bunch_of_characters_here/full/ URL, which cannot be hotlinked of course, but at least it's the full size image.

Also, my mistake was also that I tried to see if the image in "Link" was the full size image, but when I got the "Link" URL, it was without "full" at the end, and so, it was also a smaller resized version.

Thanks, Alextasha!
