The only thing keeping me here is the art.

there are some things i love about the art, and some i dislike. the final panel of chapter 3 with the reflection is great, but for some reason i don't love how their faces are drawn, particularly amane.

also, this panel bothered me. not sure why she's missing an eye...

the whole dom protecting their sub thing is pretty cute.

isn't it rude to say "no" outright in japan? thats why you see translations of people responding to a question with "it's a little [inconvenient]..." afaik that is the polite way to say "no" to a request.

i wonder if telling her "you can not" vs "you should not" is similar here? my japanese is still very rudimentary though so i'm not sure.

im pretty ready for this whole back story arc to be over. it seems to be trying a bit too hard.

it would be useful to have some tag to show that it focuses mainly on teasing. that is kind of the main element of the comic. also, i want to be able to find more stuff like this, but none of the tags actually describe their dynamic. there are probably tons of soft D/s mangas that I could be enjoying right now ;;

this is the page where, when rereading, i thought hino was looking at something. she looks down, pulls back koguma's hair, and then there is a panel with nothing but her back. the hair pull back is what I was thinking could mean an earring. maybe a bra strap? who knows.

hino is constantly teasing and playing with what koguma thinks actually happened, i.e. with the lollipop. i'm kind of thinking that she was doing something similar here. i saw a bunch of spoiler posts earlier, so maybe we will find out soon? either way, my headcanon says she didn't just flip up her skirt. probably something more clever.

rereading it, i honestly don't think hino is talking about her panties. she is pulling her hair back. like another poster said earlier it might just be earrings.

i'm not trying to further an argument with my last post, just trying to explain my thought process so that people can see how i came to the conclusions i did.

i put up with a lot of stuff that i think is messed up in order to read yuri. i try to take what i can from a work, but i definitely don't agree that the rest of an author's work should be irrelevant. the reason i went looking at the pixiv was because things in this comic were making me uncomfortable, so i looked to the author's other stuff to see if maybe my discomfort was just a one off thing.

i found their other comics and illustrations even more creepy, and it definitely shows that this isn't an aberration. this element of young looking women is a major focus of their work, and that puts this work into a different context.

i'm not telling anyone that they shouldn't read hino-san no baka because of this. all i am saying is that there is a place for discussion about the author's intent. i can overlook a few dodgy things here and there, but when the content you like is the aberration, and the rest of their stuff is problematic, i think it warrants a discussion.

the same way you would put any art into perspective, both historical and personal.

is it creepy that this comic keeps bringing up how young koguma looks? well, for me, when i see the rest of this author's work, yes. it is creepy.

the reason i mentioned non-con is because when i brought up the topic of consent and communication people were saying that it didn't matter. i wasnt trying to bait anyone, nor was i intending to say that the author of this comic had that on their pixiv. i just kind of lumped the two things that people were disagreeing with me about together, which i shouldn't have done.

sorry if i contributed to the conversation getting a bit out of hand. i didn't intend to add fuel to any serious/off-topic debates or bait anybody.

this kind of thing seems to happen in a lot of threads. people are just passionate about their gay girl stories and all have different opinions....

personally, i want yuri to move in a positive direction and to help with acceptance/understanding, but i know not everyone wants that or feels like it's necessary. if i'm chiming in, it's usually because i am worried about something being harmful to young gay people. especially in japan where gay marriage isn't legal, and they have a long way to go to normalize healthy same sex relationships.

its not always easy to include a positive or healthy message without it feeling shoehorned in. like if in the next chapter hino and koguma were discussing safe words/consent it would feel out of place. i don't want every manga to be focused on teaching healthy relationship practices either. i just like seeing small things included here and there.

anyway. sorry. this comic is cute as hell and i love it.

i'm not expecting this manga to go to a bad place, but just like majere, certain things will detract from my experience. i'm not even saying it should change. i don't expect every comic to have 2 chapters of the characters getting explicit consent. small things, like checking in with the other person before doing something new, go a long way towards getting me into something.

y'all can like your non-con loli porn all you want. i just don't like it, and hope this manga doesn't go in that direction.

i'm not taking anything seriously, it's a comic, and if i don't like it i'll just stop reading. i just have different preferences and i was expressing them. someone challenging your perspective isn't a personal attack.

So many updates in such a short time, I love it.

there's 33 chapters out, so we've probably got quick updates for a bit longer. I'm loving it too.

While it would be lying to say that I've never though that an artists' talent was wasted on a specific fetish, I find the assumption that the artist is doing this for money kind of naive and disrespectful to the artist and their personal tastes.

BugDevil: power exchange needs to be negotiated. safe words exist for a reason. sometimes playful teasing goes too far, and it isn't always easy to tell if someone is enjoying something.

people are debating it here because it hasn't been made explicit. being explicit is what keeps relationships like this healthy. communication is important. instead of hino guessing when she goes too far, she will know for sure.

there have been a couple of panels where i really didn't like the way koguma was drawn. one with her shirt up laying on the ground bothered me. the one Blastaar points out as well.

I'm also reaaaally not into the fact that the author is constantly playing up the fact that her body is childish. I peeked at their pixiv and its full of gross shit. hopefully the comic doesn't get creepier because I have really been enjoying it.
