On another note, I think it's weird that Ume (Yuzu's mom) hasn't realized what's going on between the girl after Mei told her not to say anything to Yuzu, and I wonder where she was going in this chapter (meeting with Mei, maybe?) and what Yuzu was going to tell her before stopping herself.

I think the mom must have noticed something. Or she still believes that Yuzu is sad because she loved her very much as a sister. well... She might as well be meeting the father...? But he could just come home...?

The fancé has also a lot of potential of breaking through this dilemma. He should notice something too... Mei also asked him not to tell Yuzu and he knows that Yuzu likes someone, she worked to get the money for the rings after all...

Keep in mind, guys, despite all this angst, Saburouta has apparently stated many times that there WILL be a happy ending. So this absurd break-up (Mei, you're a fucking jackass) is only one of the many obstacles of angst our girls will have to go through before they get their happy ending.

Also, side note, can I just say that Saburouta was really good with all that foreshadowing? Like, Yuzu hugging Mei in the library and asking if it's okay to love her? Anyone remember that? I remember, initially, I passed Mei's hesitance to answer as shyness, but it really wasn't.

And another side note, I love Yuzu's friends. You can tell throughout the chapter, they're all feeling really bad for her. Especially Matsuri. Even Himeko seemed down after she was done scolding Yuzu, and Shirapon's noticing that Yuzu was still wearing her ring was a nice touch. Her expression didn't really change, but you can tell she was thinking something like, "I'm so sorry you're still in pain, Yuzu."

Can't believe we gotta wait another two months before Chapter 37. Ah well. That gives me time to reread this whole guilty pleasure manga and keep up with the anime!

Japanese fans loved this chapter (while being sad, how could they not) because of Mei's POV, and they're very hopeful. As I said earlier, completely different reactions.

I had failed to see this until you pointed out, I re-read the chapter, I am actually crying a bit, but I'll blame it on my period, anyway, Mei surely cares about Yuzu after all and now I am hopeful as well, thanks mysterious person.

Wait a moment, if this is not the last chapter cos there's no way on earth it can be..
Maybe after this 1 year, six months time skip thing, Mei grows a pair and decides to choose Yuzu? Cos if it's Yuzu again who "forces" her to do what she really wants, that's pretty lame.
If Mei, even if she needs an ungodly amount of time, does stand for herself and accepts this sort of life with Yuzu.. I'd like that honestly, cos ending it like this is basically going back to the very beginning, it'd mean Mei hasn't changed much, yeh ok she wrote a letter before running away instead of just running away..that's not improvement.
