"purely out of research purposes" lmfao im dead
Not trying to contradict you, but rather than "realistic", I feel like they're more... human. Her characters aren't shiny, or idealistic, they're so profoundly flawed and sometimes, have such ugly desires, it's like, the opposite the usual fluff we see from many other authors. It's to the point many root against the main characters, which i think is interesting, that's how provocative they are sometimes. In a crude way, the general idea of her character that I'm left with is "look at these interesting, yet horrible girls trying to be happy..."
I remember telling friends about yuri, and sometimes saying that I love how fluffy it is, tho ofc, the genre varies in its themes. It can be fluffy. It often is, but it doesn't have to be. It can be dark, it can be destructive, it can be passionate in its chaos. These characters are girls trying to love, despite how twisted their love can be.
If one is not into darker themes, it's understandable they stay away from it. Otherwise, it can be good fun in its own way
Good to see your edit, I was wondering why you mentioned it was "last month" rather than idk, as of now, barely a week ago :P

This chapter was really interesting I find, I think Kotooka makes a good narrator, seeing things from her point of view was refreshing. Her angst is darker than Shiratori's, likely Washio's as well, as she is burdened by the knowledge of it all, and has to maintain appearances to keep everything balanced. She's a libra. (I was totally like oh shit when I saw this page and the huge scale)
It was a lot to take in tho. You get the gist of her feelings, her thoughts, her character, but you get all of the truth behind her facade for the last 6 chapters in a single chapter, I'll have probs have to reread, or wing it and hope I understood and remember most of it.
I like Kotooka. As she was presented in the first 6 chapters, she wasn't as interesting as she is now. Seems like she gave up on her love from the very start, but also can't support Shiratori and Washio's, so this is all she can manage, all she can think of, this peaceful stalemate.
It's interesting that they all have it tough with varying degrees, each only seeing the one(s) in front of them, uh, like:
Washio is bittersweet from unrequited love, it's pretty simple actually. Meanwhile, Shiratori acknowledges Washio's love and pain but is also trying to deal with her own unrequited feelings, and is quite hurting too. Finally, you have Kotooka, who suspected and then confirmed everyone's feelings and while trying to deal with her own unreciprocated feelings, is trying to subtly let Washio down and aware of Shiratori's love and pain.tl;dr: Kotooka is an interesting narrator, a really good chapter. I already knew cus spoilers, but thank god she has more depth. Has the heaviest burden of them all.
Kotooka was pretty interesting in this chapter. We get to see how much she cares for her friends, but at the same time we get to see how selfish she is with her feelings by not trying to help Tsukasa get with the person she really likes. Overall, this is the best chapter of the series so far, but knowing how slow it has been for the first 6 chapters, we'll be back to the glasses guy trying to get with Tsukasa by next chapter.
I get that. I kinda understand how it's selfish of her, but I see it more like... she chooses not to be selfless, not like the way Tsukasa chose to be for Nadeshiko. She's honestly afraid Nadeshiko could return Tsukasa's feelings. If that were to happen, she'd be the one with the shorter of the stick. It's pretty harsh. You can't root for one pairing without another one being left out and heartbroken (which a lot of readers wouldn't care for tbh, because there's probs one character they care about less than the other two). But considering that they're all close friends, it's pretty heartbreaking yeah. "You're not supposed to fall in love with your friend', and that's legit what every single of them did and now they're fucked.
I have no idea how this is gonna end. Often, even tho they're "love triangles", each individuals aren't "equal". Often you have the more obvious pairing, and one person left out, with unrequited feelings for one of them, or two people who like the same person, tho you can tell that there's one of the two that person fancies more, so it's pretty obvious too, the way it's hinted. But as of now I can't tell for this one. So far we've mainly had Tsukasa as the narrator, so seeing it from her point of view, I think it's natural more people ship her and her own love interest, but the author does try to maintain this balance by having none of the girls show actual interest in the one "pursuing" them (basically, no one reciprocates the feels of another). It's pretty frozen for now.
As much as Asakura's interference make me nervous, he does seem to be the one to have stirred things up a whole lot, the balance was fragile for a few chapters. I guess that's the boys' purposes in the series, somehow move that balance/loop the 3 girls are [trying to remain] in.

Thanks for explaining btw, Mizusi, it was really interesting and informative, it's that I got quite distracted by something else, instead of formulating a proper response. Closed it the moment I saw bits of the video title on the tab. And I was JUST gonna watch that episode too, fuck. So close to not being spoiled.
But yeah, for the longest time, I've watched anime and not really paid attention to the studios responsible for them. I started taking notice of them more as they are discussed/brought up sometimes in the anime thread, but I can't say that I'm very familiar with even the bigger/more popular/infamous studios yet
DEEN tried to play with their art on a SHAFTY way with Sakura Trick as well, which I even found cute, but think would be an awful idea to put in practice for NTR.
Oh, like, the words/flowers/character motifs running around on the screen? I thought it was very visually interesting. I haven't seen much from Shaft (I only remember Madoka Magica), but I saw the first ep of the first season of Monogatari, I just remember words flashing on the screen a lot.
Alright.
So it has no story at all?
What a waste of ink and time.
It's the charm of Nishi Uko's writing. Little glimpses into their lives, or a specific scenes in particular. They're like short stories.
omg Ep 8 of Izetta
I'm so scared and stressed. There aren't as many "action" scenes as one would first expect for it's still stressing me out, information is so valuable, so much is depending of these side characters omg
I'm surprised the uh guy who volunteered to do the spy mission had such a feelsy/tragic death scene, that they gave him that amount of importance. With the music and all, I felt shivers, when he fell. Even if he's an antagonist, I guess what they were trying to show us was that he was an alright guy, doing his best, just on a different side :/
I'm also surprised there was a kiss scene at all, even if it was with someone else, another girl too, altho the purpose wasn't for it to be a "kiss" per se. That was so fake tho lmao, the guy's excuse. "She's a big fan lol dw about it". I'm surprised Fine and Izetta weren't shown thinking about it again, it was legit fucking suspicious. But fuck I'm scared there are so many plot points and foreshadowing bits in this episode, it's building towards so much shit they're so fucked omg
Oh and about the White Witch's tale. Before I found out the "true end" to it, a thought I had was that, whether she ended up with the prince or not, essentially, it's a love story isn't it? She fought for love, after all, not unlike Izetta currently is. It's tragic, but ignoring the ending, the gist of her purpose was still rather romantic. This better not happen to Fine and Izetta tho, I'm here for love and hope, not death and despair :/
As much as the lil gayish bits made me happy, the plot is really building up, I feel tense.

Fuck, dude, is that what I think it is
I closed the tab right away
Can you not spoil, especially on unrelated threads?
Edit: Thank you very much

Random side note: my friends and I often use the word "classique" as a response/reaction to things pretty, and sometimes I want to write it here, but I feel like "classic" sounds different, has less of an impact than a well-resonating, deeper-sounding "he, classique", so I end up just abstaining from it ;___; It's much easier on my fb, everyone I know speaks French at least
I may have misunderstood, but you use "classique" when you see something pretty ? If yes, it's the first time I hear someone using classique this way, and it's rather incorrect.
Ah fuck lol, I removed a word
I initially wrote "pretty often", but I moved "often" somewhere else, but forgot to erase the "pretty"
You don't have to entirely read it now, but give it a glance when you feel like watching an anime ;)
Lyendith, a french scanlator/translator. They translate A Kiss and a White Lily
I allowed myself to correct the few mistakes you made, if it bothers you I'll refrain in the future. Your mandarin must be excellent.
Ah that's fine, it's not like you were being mean about it :)
1st language: Mandarin, 2nd: English and 3rd: French, but my level of fluency for each more like: English, French and then Mandarin, which is a huge shame orz
@Faust
^ I'm probably one of the few ppl that found the 2nd arc of Kabaneri to be more compelling than the first :/ If you're interested, I written about it here actually.
Here ya go (lol)
omfg that's huge lmao ok
ill read it after watching Izetta and battle royale magical girls
Utopia
The amount of high-quality / awesome series you miss is gargantuan. You not minding to watch and liking Overlord makes it even less understandable.
Is this what you meant? Rofl. Too bad I wouldn't know, I'm not always sure what words are more frequently used in x language compared to another, or more like I don't consciously take note of it.
I think one thing I spotted you doing, before or after you said you were French, is when you wrote 'psychotique' or wtv word ending with 'que' and I was like "hehehehehe"
T'es drôle esti, tu me renvoies au primaire. Ou plutôt, on dirait un exercice pour un cours d'anglais moins avancé au secondaire/high school. Je vais garder le lien ouvert dans un tab lol, ça a l'air intéressant. Je me souviens avoir été envoyé à des cours d'anglais le samedi quand j'étais gosse (i heard a french youtube user say this "gosse" line and i liked it haha), ça ressemble à des trucs de ce genre, malgré que je n'avais pas vrm pris ces cours au sérieux ^^;;
Donc si ça t'intéresse, don't refrain from browsing it and giving me your feedback :P
Un tab de plus parmi une trentaine lol, I'll keep this in mind too
(idk if consistant sounds as fine in French in this context than it would be in English)
Rina
I have no idea what post I missed my bad, link me to it? (。•́︿•̀。)
You probably meant this one:
https://mobile.twitter.com/binobinobi/status/784795128900706304
This is the anime director, and writer of this last episode.
this gives me hope for more explicit stuff, that ppl wont be able to ignore and pass off as incredibly close friendship
Looks like DEEN.
Yeah, this screams DEEN. As if any studio with a decent budget would pick up any (actual) yuri show ever. They couldn't even bother adding any sort of shine/shading to their hair whatsoever, great.
What do mean by the "as if any studio [...]" part?
Idk if hair shine is important, but I feel like it's just some character angle shots, no meant to be too "fancy" (?) or anything
I hope they don't try to go full SHAFT on this one like they attempted to with Sakura Trick. While I didn't completely despise it on Sakura Trick, I think it won't fit NTR's style and kind of genre at all.
What's going SHAFT? I know it's another studio, but I don't get the reference lol I'm sorry
Bolognese is... red meat sauce .. problably, isn't it.
K I googled it. Seems indeed to be red sauce.
I still appreciate having your thoughts on it, thanks :)
plus we agreed to tackle the Tachi manga, the one I've been dying to read since March, I'm thoroughly satisfied
That one's gonna be fucking delicious (ノ*´ ▽ ` )ノ*

Ça aide ^^I don't know if you read [not totally unknown] mangas that are not yuri; you can try reading scans in french. You also can try watching movies you've already seen in english, in french. I can even give you some links if you want.
I wouldn't mind having you talk to me in french either, and pratice is the best way to improve ;)
Merci c'est gentil, je garderais ca en tête (i'll keep it in mind...?)
ISN'T IT A HUGE STRUGGLE TO WONDER IF YOU'RE MAKING AN EXPRESSION UP, in either french or english?
Ne pas savoir si ça se dit ou non ;n; (tho it's probs clearer for you in french/less likely that you'll make an anglicisme than me)
Last time I proofread, I actually let pass this syntaxe/grammar(?) mistake: We're Friday (or something), because I didn't realise that it's actually wrong in english, no one (english speakers that is) says that, but sounded fine to me because "on est vendredi" orz ALSO doesn't help that it's likely I've heard that phrase before because people around me are bilingual ;u; (french + english speakers, for the most part) i feel like it's a mistake a lot of us would've made
Iron of the Kabaneri was decent at best, I did enjoy watching it though.
It was kinda a bummer how the first half was really interesting, but the second 'arc' wasn't as compelling
But the music in the last eps/scenes was great
Anon99
^ Then you're left-handed...?
This was fucking good
Neko chan
blackkitty aaaawww that's nice, and also I'm feeling jelly cos I'm underaged so I always have to sneak around when I pm getting drinks XD
*snickering*\ because you're 17 (iirc), and depending on where you live, it might still be a while until you're legal
While I agree that drinking is overrated, it's nice to have these "privileges", that you can choose to or not, tho myself, I've never bothered with it, and when I had my first hangout at a bar, I was already 18. Also rip @ppl under 21 in the states. I always forget about that, until this American friend brings it up and it just feels so troll that I've been fine but she still has to sneak around hehe
So it got me wondering everyone what's your favourite takeout (or home cooked) meal? I'm jus really curiouse what people like to eat across the world ahah ^//w//^
I like.. various things? I guess? I don't usually get takeout. I like... sushi. Salmon (sashimi too). Fried rice. Pasta. Ramen and pho. Strawberry ice cream lmao. Shepherd's pie.
I didn't know what to answer you about takeout or a home cooked meal so I listed random foods.

I assumed you were from Quebec, wanted to make sure. I've always had a hard time with quebec french, and especially their accent but I'm disgressing here.
Lol yeah
I think that, when full out ranting about something, Quebecers sound hilariouuus. French is still my third language, I cant really "fluently swear" like them (as id call it), so when I hear them string those words out, im just super amazed xD
You're trilingual too ? That's interesting. So you speak french, english and ?
Mandarin, but it's super rip cus im losing it, I should try to speak it more with my chinese friends
especially anglophone, which reflects in my french
It's the opposite for me, totally francophone which sometimes reflects in my english, although I do my best to sound as english as possible.

@Utopia Oh I thought you knew
To be more specific, I'm... from Quebec, asian, trilingual, but especially anglophone, which reflects in my french (even if the average francophone here make use of english terms in their langage familier too lol)
I wrote in sorta slangy 'quebecer' french earlier cus that was my first thought and I thought to myself "ah to hell with it" and wrote it like wtv
Oh yeah Faust, I hope you'll still be around if I ever made another analytical-esque post, even if it's for a different topic. Some discussion is always nice, although I am not too into prolonged discussions, as in, really long and in depth ones.
Here' is a song: https://youtu.be/lg8czMcKdkI
Yeah ill be up for it (if I see it >_>)
I feel like, given the way you describe things, it's like... you make your topic matter to me. I feel like, even if I dislike x series, you coud make valid points regarding its good sides

Ben crime t'as fuck up la, t'as tilt les mods
C'est triste mais t'as fuck up quand meme. Shrugs.
Well cripes you fucked up, you tilted the mods
It's sad but you still fucked up.
Let's be more careful next time? :(

So a link here, that leads to another site with all the links shared, would be alright?
So a link to a list of links? Or a link to the site/blog where one post among many has a list of links?
The first seems dodgy, but the second (like "My Tumblr is here", rather than "Here's a specific post on my Tumblr") sounds arm's length enough.
Hm. Posts on one's blog gets rapidly buried, after all (cus I spam with other shit). The 'dodgier' way is the simpler, more efficient way. Unless, after making the mega-links-sharing post, I refrain from posting anything else for a few days so that ppl locate and save the link to that post, which I can continuously edit.
Or a new tumbr with one post at all, or at least the first post being so, with handful over it but still keeping it on the first page, but its still sorta the dodgy way so idk

Sooooo How to Get Away with Murder... Michaela and Laurel kissed eachother out of joy, which was surprisingly nice. And is it just me or is there something going on between Annalise and Soraya?
I haven't started s3 yet, trying to wait for it t build up, but omfg nice
For people who feel this is drawn out, did you even read Sasameki Koto? Now that is an exercise in patience.
Well fuck
While I do appreciate this series idk if itd be interesting/good enough for 8-9 volumes
In fact, how did sasameki even reach that length? I binged it a year and a half ago, your sense of a series' chronological timelineand plot points gets kind of fuzzy when you read chapter after chapter x 50
Sounds like a weirdly pronounced way to say que succulènto (succulent)
Which is probs funnier if we knew the meme
