Kii-chan, I know it's hard to understand that Tomoko has friends, but it is in fact true. Although you may have figured that only Asuka and Yuri were her friends, on the basis of that picture. But Nemo was in that picture too.

^ Yoshida and Mako are two of the four essentially sweet characters in Watamote that have helped to shape Tomoko's life beyond Yuu, the other two being Megumi and Asuka. Of the four, they are also the ones who are most available to each other, and they have built a steady history of caring for each other and being attentive to each other's needs. It's a very natural, pleasant relationship.

I wish one of the current crop of excellent doujin creators would write a manga about what happened after Yoshida left the cafeteria, humiliated after fighting Koto and having her boob grabbed by Tomoki, and Mako took off after her. That would be worth reading.

Sweet Dangus McGee -- It's a good slice of life that turned into an epically great one, with a miserably shy socially anxious antisocial otaku unknowingly bisexual girl slowly finding other girls to be friends with and learning to be a worthwhile human being. It starts out as an agonizing cringe comedy and turns into something rare and beautiful. The friendships aren't explicitly yuri but they're almost all erotically charged and Tomoko isn't the only one who could play for both teams. It's brilliantly written and all the characters are delightful. Read it, you have no excuse.

Pictured with Tomoko, who is in the center, are Hina and Asuka, two out of her three main girlfriends.

The ending so open, it's should be ended just like this. No, pleas don't make this into a joke or gag. The story is end in the good open up to reader.

I second that emotion.

I don't get it.

I was making a little joke to say that I agreed with you.

Is watamote a good to watch manga? I don't mean about yuri but in general.

One of the very greatest slice of life series of all time.

Otherwise, not so much.

At least the manga lets you pace yourself. I watched the series without reading anything else, just coming off of watching welcome to the nhk and reading the light novel, and I literally had to watch about 15 minutes at a time and then go do something else. I would compare it to the first ten minutes of Kotarou-san.

You're right; the manga series lets you choose your own time. The anime series is like one of those roller coasters that snap your neck around and send you to the hospital. You have to cope when riding them by saying "It's fun! It's fun!"

The fact is that if Watamote had stopped where the series stopped, it would never have been a masterpiece, just a brutal story of a doomed person.

Incredible voice actress playing Tomoko, though. That and the opening song made it all worthwhile.

Do the manga really have those stuff or some yuri stuff ?
If it yes i really need to read it, do someone know where the manga start from the last episode of the anime ?

There's some very important stuff between the end of the Culture Festival and the Kyoto field trip (ch. 69 or 70). Start at chapter 22 if you want to leave earlier content to the show, even though some of what follows may be in the show. The manga is richer and more complex. There are three key Imae Megumi appearances in those chapters that play on what we know and Tomoko doesn't, such as why the mascot hugged her at the Culture Festival. Missing any of Megumi's moments with or around Tomoko means to miss an essential dimension to the series, since Megumi basically saved Tomoko's soul in a way that becomes absolutely clear in the series' second half (esp the emotionally devastating, wonderful, pivotal ch. 115-116). There are some knee-cappingly sad chapters in there ("I'll Start a Club") that are even more excruciating than what the series dishes up, but as people have been saying, it's all necessary to understand the meaning of the "good stuff."

It's straight-up drama, actually, erotically charged drama but drama nonetheless.

^ Yes, it's Asuka's call. Tomoko seems to be ready for anything. She wants a new life, the question being how new.

Truth be told, the likely course is that Asuka would smile sweetly at Tomoko and say "Let's undress and lie together and make love" and Tomoko would be in bed before the dust settled.

Sus-lik -

There's plenty of subtext, but the main thing is that all the main characters are delightful in the way they sort things out in general with Tomoko, with sex buzzing like background noise. They're all headed out into their lives and figuring things out in various ways with the dwindling time, and somehow it's been a joyous process for the reader (even when it's kinky and mean and Tomoko reminds us that she will probably always be kind of an asshole). Even the really awful characters like Minami (aka Fang, Fang Girl) become strangely compelling. What's really going on is not so much yuri or non-yuri as the messy hilarity of friendship and all the elements of it, and the way the mess makes life worthwhile.

And as A5PECT and others have been saying, reading the frequently agonizing first 65+ chapters of the manga is the only way to get to what I'm describing above.

One interesting thing about reading the early chapters is how some characters that seem at first to be simple background cut-outs actually turn out to be serious characters later, and their action in the background in early chapters about Tomoko's isolation has a lot to do with what happens when Tomoko gets to know them. The stuff that happens later with her friends and her didn't come out of some black box; the author had been planning things the whole time, including the period when Tomoko seemed to be the only inhabitant of her little hell-world.

There are actually two school trips, the pivotal one at ch. 70 and a long series of chapters later on that is a raving ensemble masterpiece. The second is where the "harem" starts to get out of control.

Poor Ucchi doesn't realize that Tomoko only uses her as a sort of emotional grounding wire when her attraction to Asuka gets too intense.
