It's a good pick, firstly because of Maki x Hana, secondly because of Miki's flashback suspense. Maki's a tough biker chick, when she met Hana there were some drunk sarariman molesting Hana so she beat 'em up and rescued her, now they are pretty much an item. But when Hana introduces Maki, Miki seems to remember her... and then it comes back to her: when Miki was a kid in grade school, some older girls bullied her horribly, they abused her, hurt her, stole her plushie bear, etc. etc. And... she seems to recall Maki was one of those bullies!?!?!?
Then (gasp) Maki is actually a bad girl!?
SUSPENSE!!!

Hm, I was of the impression that Akira and Ayako had been occasional lovers after Ayako became a widow.

It has a lot to do with Akira's first appearance.

Remember, Asuka had finally confessed, and Ayako had accepted her feelings (more or less) and agreed to have romantic kisses and share a bed with Asuka. Things were looking good... and then, at the very last page of a chapter, Akira appeared for the first time: she was at the airport, freshly arrived to the city, and was calling Ayako to say: 'Hey, darling, I'm back in town. I'm going to your place. I'll be staying with you. I love you.'

That was screaming Zorra-chan.

That's how the "ex who returns" always appears for the first time. Always when things are going well for the MC couple. Always a dramatic appearance in the last page of a chapter, where she reveals she's back to rekindle the old affair. It's like a law of manga or something, hehe.

I as well was persuaded, after a first appearance like that, that Akira was an ex-lover of Ayako. And tbh the events from that point on pretty much confirmed it... (Like that scene where Ayako, knife in hand, tells Akira that it's ok to fuck her since Ayako is used to it and doesn't mind, but she better keep her cotton-picking hands off Asuka!)

Is there really such a thing as a human being who, burning with desire and lust for a girl, finally gets to take her to bed and makes her go crazy with passion and has her ready for sex...

Aww I can relate so much, actually I suspect a whole lot of people will feel identified — coz Sailor Moon was like a gateway anime and manga for many many people to realize they were into girls, or yuri, or both, hehe. As for me, it was my first experience with Japanese media, which opened my eyes to the huge difference with West-made stuff. Because of Sailor Moon I became a fan of anime and manga in general and got into the yuri fandom. Actually, today in Japan there are loads of women who read yuri magazines & manga who learned that they loved it (so they said in magazine polls) when they got into Sailor Moon when they were younger. Those sailor senshi sure have a lot to answer for, lol.

Not surprising: there's plenty of subtext in the story as a whole, not just in that one chapter! You can't really call it yuri... but it is teasy subtext, and there's a lot of it! And I don't mean just MCs like Miki and Aya, secondary characters too! Look at Maki and Hana...

That's from the time when they played Incan Gold. I wonder if they will include it in the anime? It's Maki's first appearance, after all...
