The line may have been better as "Is what I think."? I can't comment on on how this line went, but you'd be surprised the amount of behind-the-scenes back and forth, discussion, and revision goes on for scripts. Depending on the group, that is.

That used to be THE archetypal yuri story, so I guess you're in the right place. There's a lot of that story on this site. You can probably find a number of such stories in the Tsubomi, early Yuri Hime, and Hirari works on the site

But really, I'm always surprised when people are surprised that there's a standard yuri development in their yuri. Don't people know that this genre runs almost purely on miscommunication? Have I been reading a different yuri than everyone else all these years?

The culture wars are strong here, but do not amount to much if won. I suggest taking this energy somewhere relevant, like your state or local representatives, and demand they take those horrifying laws off the books that let people marry 14 year olds. At the end of the day, if Dynasty removes this content from their site, nothing of consequence changes. But some real life activism? Now that's something to write home about.

Also, if you're introducing someone to yuri, please give them a book instead of sending them to a site with pornography on it. This may be silly coming from me, but piracy is still bad, m'kay?

Call me old fashioned, but this is porn about lesbians written by two dudes, right? The general lack of proper handling of even alarmingly sensitive topics shouldn't be too surprising

And so, this is the dreaded moment in which the silly comedy series tries to become dramatic. More often than not, the ending result of this shift is alienating the original audience while failing to catch a new one, resulting in lackluster endings or series becoming shells of their former selves at the midway point (looking at you, CLAMP).

That's totally not how Rayearth played out. The dramatic shift made everything very heavy, made everyone's actions suddenly have weight.

To everyone that didn't like the first chapter... What, do you all hate fun? I mean, I know as well as you that this is no place for the stuff, but to be so turned away from it when it finally appears...

I love where this story is going, but the fun has definitely simmered.

That's like saying that it'd have been for Luke to take a lightsabre and go kill the Evil Emperor on a Death Star. We got a hero with the means, an evil bad guy and a superweapon; now we can have them fight it out and all is well. Everything else is surplus to the story and a waste of time.

Um... no? What you're describing is the end of a trilogy, not the beginning of a story. To use your Star Wars analogy, the beginning constitues a status quo (Luke living on Tatooine / Aoi forcing herself to live what is considered a normal life), a change to that status quo (R2D2 delivering the message from Leia / Chi-chan pulling her out of her arranged marriage) and an established quest (Luke and friend rescueing Leia from Darth Vader / Chi-chan and Aoi starting a new life together). It doesn't really need an extra hour or so of Luke shooting womprats and talking up how great Uncle Owen is.

This is pretty standard chapter 1 stuff, nothing too out of the ordinary. The story is set up, everything has been laid out, and there's just the right amount of ennui.
