Yep, the chapter where she cheats makes it obvious, from her flippant, chill attitude, and the conversation with the other girl, that this was not her only time cheating. Also, lol, what purity? No one here was even mentioning that crap, until you pulled it out from thin air. Like, I like horrible characters like Yamanaka, especially when they are at peace with their nature and do not try to conform (is why I usually like Kodama's stuff), but for some reason (I am uncertain why exactly), it just does not work for me here.

Of course, what else would a yandere look for...

She was pretty unambiguously presented as a horrible person, she herself knows this, and openly said so. Her reasoning for being distant is that she is an asshole, and not that she has some tender part that got hurt in the past.

Second panel, the family photo of all of them when they were kids. Tsubomi is in the middle. This is so far the only time she appeared in the serialised version, as far as I am aware of.

Wow!!! Just... WOW!!!! Tsubomi was downright evil here! Plus how her pupils contracted into that evil glare! I do not think Mochi ever wrote a character this close to being a villain (or at least, as far as a 'villain' in a silly slice-of-life romance story goes). Damn, I want more of her! Also lol, she is in for a whole series of (for her) unpleasant surprises when she gets back home. Unless this really was just her being jealous.

Last 7 comments sum up pretty much all my thoughts on this. Funny thing is, I usually like blunt, horrible characters who do not repress their nature, but with this one... eh... kind of not clicking for me. I just flat out dislike her.

I took it as her dreaming. Makes sense, day of the funeral, obviously this whole issue weighs heavily on her, and is therefore prominently on her mind, naturally, it seeps into her dreams.

Though, looking at it again, it could have been a ghost. Which would actually take away part of the tragedy, since the two of them would have a clear chance of seeing each other again. Probably the reason I did not read it as a ghost story.

^No. There is a clear difference between tags that merely list generic tropes used in a work, and examples such as this story, where it would legitimately ruin a huge part of the emotional impact that was intended by the author. Also lol, there is a fair number of stories on the site where tags such as Tragedy, or even Cheating are deliberately omitted, as they would spoil a huge part of the plot and/or emotional impact of the work.

Ah, I see, I see. I am actually finding myself agreeing with you. But I think there was a slight misunderstanding here, lol, I was actually talking about the main character when I wrote "consideration or stupidity", and assumed your "selfishness" was also a take on her, rather than the dead girlfriend.

What I meant with "consideration or stupidity" is that she found out a year after the break-up, therefore, two years before her girlfriend died, what the truth was, but decided not to seek her lover out. Hence, she showed deep consideration for her girlfriend's apparent wish for them not to be together while she is dying, but I also think it was stupid, on account of life being, well, once-and-never-again sort of a deal, without a convenient place beyond where they could meet again.

I would call it selfishness.

I liked this. Especially when it is revealed she knew her girlfriend was dying for two whole years, but decided not to go and see her. I can not decide if it was the very pinnacle of consideration, or of stupidity. Either way, is a nice touch. Usually in these types of stories, the realisation comes far, far too late, I can not actually recall another story when the other party knows in advance.

Never mind, found it. "Yuri Yuri". And lol, the cute girl with the foul personality does not actually have a foul personality. She is just really straightforward.

The main character likes a cute girl with a foul personality, her friend is telling her how horrible her interest is, and the main character replies with "gap moe", while looking dreamy, to which her friend replies along the lines of "you sure are resilient".
