I am actually happy that Shirobako, one of the best shows of recent times that you should totally watch by the way, was mostly devoid of shipping subtext or other dumb baiting like some other shows I could mention. That said, this was still a pretty nice read and I could see this working for these characters.

It does seem like that's the sort of transformative process that would be easy to interrupt. But no, everybody just stands around watching while the Liberators and Exeters get it on until one of them turns into a sword.

I was referring to the show in general really, but sure the usual "bad guys wait for the hero's transformation sequence" applies.

Does not help that some of the character designs reach for the Queen's Blade level of gross, but that obviously goes down to personal tastes.

On a random note, before watching the first episode Valkyrie Drive, I was like "I can watch anything with yuri even if it's the trashiest thing ever" but after watching just the first episode I realized "I can't watch trashy stuff like this..."

Hah, that is the exact experience I had with that show.

Called it... not that it was a particularly amazing call! This resolved itself about as cleanly as you would expect from this series, which is not a bad thing at all because gosh darn it, I love me some fluffy Yamad & Kase times!

It does start to resemble more common yuri shenanigans a bit now. But well, I think the author has earned the benefit of the doubt here, and I trust they will spin it into something interesting.

Thank you for completing this book. I go back and reread it from time to time, there is just something very personally appealing about it.

Too bad the ending of the first season and pretty much the entirety of the second season was a hot mess, S2 especially was a completely unnecessary sequel that went absolutely nowhere because it was too busy endlessly repeating all the stupid gags of the original and tapping the reset button whenever characters almost had some development going on. Just another chapter of "what could have been great" from Kyoani's book.

So this is basically an extra scene for the movie then. I did quite enjoy all the Miho & Maho moments in it, that quick look at each other at the battle's climax comes to mind.
