Am I missing something or did Misa come down with a sudden case of amnesia? Why would Io call her and beg Misa to help her and then run out all haggard in a hoodie while visibly on the verge of breaking down if she was cheating? Io was audibly struggling on the phone, and Misa even talked to Hase and literally said "Isn't this the opposite of protecting Io?!"

Exactly. The idea that she could think this was cheating and call it "jealousy" is a large stretch. Io literally begged to be saved. They also treat the situation as though the manager just slightly overstepped, as though the issue is just about the manager not allowing Io freedom.

When Misa gets off the phone her thoughts are about that lack of freedom rather than the assault she could clearly hear on the phone. That just seems like a narrative oversight rather than the story just being toxic. I have no issue with complex relationships. I'm sure Misa will take care of her next chapter but that doesn't change this weird interaction.

Someone pointed out earlier that the Spanish version used "traitor" instead of "cheater" and that makes more sense. Misa doesn't think Io actively cheated, they didn't even have an exclusive relationship, but rather is doing the kind of misattribution of Io's feelings that some people in this thread did after the most recent chapter, interpreting Io following Hase's orders as Io's subby nature tempting her to go along with Hase rather than understanding that Io was scared and looking for an out but not feeling like she could just outright stand up to Hase. Misa thinks Io almost gave in to temptation and snapped out of it, enraging Hase, rather than the situation being nonconsensual from the start.
At least, that's my interpretation after sitting on it for a day and rereading it. The next chapter after this one is sure to be interesting on way or another, as Misa will presumably hear the full story and a) feel guilty over her presumption and b) very angry at Hase, perhaps to the point of acting against her.

Aya has been feeling insecure since chapter 98. She was clearly upset but wouldn't admit to it in chapter 100 when Mitsuki asked her what was wrong, even snapping at Mitsuki when she told her, "It's fine!" in an attempt to shut down her questioning. It was a big enough deal that Mitsuki noticed it and felt anxious about Aya treating her differently. She can tell that Aya is upset and acting weird, but she doesn't understand why.

Honestly, I think that's pretty realistic on Mitsuki's end. She doesn't know that she's a character in a shoujo manga (an important point that I think people tend to forget when they're evaluating how characters act) and she still has low confidence and self-esteem. All these interactions with other students now that she's popular mean very little to her, Aya is the only person she's let close to her heart. In Mitsuki's perspective, what reason could Aya possibly have to be jealous?

It makes perfect sense how this whole situation could lead into them both being frustrated with each other for things being so awkward and tense, but neither of them has stepped up and really tried to talk it out (yet).

It wouldn't hurt some of y'all to go back and reread recent chapters before a new one comes out, just saying. Several weeks can be enough time to forget some pretty important details.

It’s very interesting to see this perspective (as someone who has grown up in the USA, things aren’t/weren’t super gender specific (at least from a societal standpoint). From elementary to high school, I hung out with people regardless of gender.

I do fr relate with the whole, hating the gendered stuff. Growin up, I hated wearing dresses (cuz they were revealing and I had a little incident when I wore a dress as kid, so that situation turned me off to the idea of wearing a dress if I had the option to wear pants instead)

I’ve always been more on the tomboyish side (I even made friends with guys easier) and I distinctly remember two instances where the gender stuff really made me upset/left an impact on me

1. On Christmas, I got a doll that I didn’t like, to the point where I had it be put in my parent’s closet and it was never seen again
2. On another Christmas, years later, I got this thin yellow dress shirt, I didn’t like it, but was told that cuz I was a girl, I should wear girly things

Tbh, those might’ve been the only times the whole boy vs girl thing was made so clear to me? At school, no one really cared it felt like, or it wasn’t put on a massive spotlight like it was at home therefore it seemed less important or smthn.

I’d honestly be more worried about the fact that the witch lady almost certainly isn’t Christian. You could get away with a lot in the Middle Ages depending on where you lived and who you’re local leaders were, but religious differences?
