I switched from crush to oshi, because at this point of the relationship (Mitsuki's gender is known), "crush" was adding a romantic nuance which isn't there yet (at least in Aya's conscious mind).

Oshi is what Japanese people call a celebrity they have a preference for. In an idol group for example. Their "fave". Someone they idolize, but it doesn't have necessarily, or even that often, a romantic slant.

The thing is, Narita also called Mitsuki his "oshi" and Aya, in a previous chapter, gets in competition with him about who Mitsuki was the oshi of first. Then, I had to translate oshi in 3 different ways across that chapter and it's become untenable, because she might switch to a more romantic word later and their relationship is not textually romantic yet, as "crush" would imply.

Absolutely adore this little conscious tidbit on your part when it comes to translating. Thanks for really caring about how words will affect the story being conveyed. This lowkey made me miss doing translation studies even if I didn't focus on that area of theory (obviously I was in queer studies lmao).

Also, to add: awwwww, they're communicating. idk why i love Aya's crying face XD but man, it's so satisfying to see her blatant honesty and Mitsuke's (finally) honest response in turn. It's short, and maybe there's a world where this has a novelization that dives into the misunderstanding and apology, but I do love the latest chapter (the uncle wins it for me too lmao,, hard same, sir :))) )

Damn, Chapter 57 wasted no time introducing us to all the new information/development regarding Evie and Elsa’s new relationship and revealing the mystery/main conflict. Can’t wait to see where this arc goes.

So glad they started with the friendship route! I can’t feckin wait to see Aya’s reaction and the next stage of this story. Jesus, maybe I should take a one month break and just hoard chapters :)) hope it doesn’t end here tho and then go into a time skip (one fear)

I get that the whole grand music gesture is clichéd, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call it cringey.

The running theme throughout this entire series thus far is the fact that music plays a huge part in Aya and Mitsuki’s communication. It actually makes sense for the grand gesture to be (if we are heading there) to be Mitsuki playing for Aya, especially if it’s going to be an original song because it’ll tie in to the whole Finally Mitsuki is Going to be Honest About The Way She Feels.

If this arc (hopefully it’s an arc and it’ll have a continuation past this point) ends with Mitsuki and Aya’s repairing their “relationship” / striking a friendship at the end of the school festival, I won’t be mad. In fact, it would be less genuine for them to go from this point of their relationship and and the current conflict into romance after the grand gesture.

It’s not wise to start a romantic relationship when it’s preceded by deceit that culminates to one of the parties being genuinely hurt by the deception.

So, yeah.

Arai Sumiko is single-handed my fueling my will to live. I hope she continues writing Aya and Mitsuki’s story because it’d be nice to have another few chapters worth of an arc of them working in their friendship and then having that arc culminating into the start of an actual romantic relationship ,, and so forth. It’d just be nice to have these compiled in volumes of manga where each volume explores a new stage in their relationship

I ended up rereading this entire collection from the start (I stopped at around chapter 4 or 5) after reading Chapter 15 on a whim. Two Girls Embracing is my favorite story so far

POV You’re Oohashi Rei and you decided to speedrun the Villainess ending for Revolution.

Admittedly, I know nothing about how this doujin started or what plans it’s creator has for it but…

First: I really like the premise. So many potential for hijinks. I’m in love with my best friend who’s in love with me but she doesn’t know it’s me?! Classic. Somebody write the AU fic for Supercorp, thanks!

That being said, I do think it has pacing/progression issues. Maybe it’s really just intended to be a hijinks ensues scenario, an eternal will she-won’t she find out. Each chapter isn’t a chapter, but a (more or less) self-contained one-shot that’s meant to be seen on the author’s dash sporadically. Maybe the only reason why we’re craving character/relationship progression is because we’re seeing all the chapters together, numbered, and we’re capable of quickly binging it. (Unless, of course, if it’s being uploaded in its original form the same way… in which case… never mind, I’m sorry, I know nothing.)

However, if the intent was for this story to have development and eventual resolution… I can see why you might wanna draw it out longer… How do you sustain the story when it’s progressed past what the title says the story is about?

(I’m not saying it’s impossible to continue the story. I’m sure any good writer can come up with further bikinis after the discovery before letting the story reach it’s natural conclusion and maybe starting anew with a different premise post-discovery like… a spin-off with the friend’s POV, a spin-off with the waitress’s POV, a sequel that’s just them navigating being really gay for each other and all the bikinis that comes with having a gf who’s a vtuber… man idk)

Point is… at about 10-12 chapters in, you kinda expect for it to have some sort of progress. Continue with the hijinks on that level of progress for the next couple of chapters, get to the next level of relationship progression. Then continue with that level of progression… until you reach the conclusion where secrets all out, they’re dating, yadda yadda… what have you. (Think… “Please, Bully Me Miss Villainess!” … Sure, Evie’s being dense but we see an unraveling of her denseness, a reason behind she’s being pointedly obtuse, and a slow stumbling into the reality that she likes Elsa and Elsa does like her!) (If that explanation makes sense. Please it’s like 5am I got up to use the bathroom and made the mistake of bringing my
Phond.)

All I’m saying is, 24 chapters in where you’re stuck where you begun is at least 10 chapters too long not to have gotten somewhere

I am once again reminded that I am a ✨simp✨ for Ai/Shiho.

Both these characters are my type visually/aesthetically and I’m crying because gay
