Just like "king" has been used as a title by some female rulers in real life history, I assume "patriarch" is also a title in this case. It implies that a man is supposed be the head of the family, so these people might also be deliberately calling her patriarch to emphasize that she is breaking social norms by leading her family despite being a woman.

I think the simpler explanation is that a lot of languages don't have an equivalence for gendered terms.

I'm confused. Why did they feel the need to censor a kiss, and then give us a link to the uncensored art like It's hardcore nudity. Honestly I'm almost more annoyed that they even bothered to put the uncensored version out there. Like we're dying to know what's happening under that blur. It's just a kiss man.

To me it looks like a sign that a series has been axed. When licensing niche, unproven series, publishers generally prefer short series because it means less commitment from them. Seven Seas picked up a bunch of axe fodders, including the 2 volumes long Scarlet and the practically abandoned Chasing Spica. In any case, Kodansha picking this up should has no immediate effect on the manga's situation, since it would take some time for they to release it in English.

Not quite. Chinese women don't change their surname upon marriage. She's simultaneously Bai Yuetao and Mrs. Lu. Just stating her name doesn't imply renouncing her husband's household.

If she won that early on in her career then it was most likely one of those magazine rookie awards for aspiring artists. You submit a draft to the magazine and if you win, it'll get published as an oneshot and you'll get opportunity to work with that magazine in the future. She would need to do a lot better than that to gain widespread recognition.

Anyway, the story reminds me of the girls who left their idol group to be together.

This is Shou-nee and Sayo-sensei from Tsurezure Biyori from the same mangaka. Shouko becomes an apartment building manager that works partime and Sayo(Saya) becomes an art teacher.

This one shot came out before Tsurezure Biyori.

Probably because Tsurezure Biyori ended more than four years ago. Thank you for bringing this up. I love Hamuro Kei's style. Too bad they haven't made anything since then.

I know this reply is rather late, but the link is wrong

In that post, I was talking about two separate mistakes in the official translation. The first one is in chapter 26 when the Viz translation has Konatsu addressing Koyuki by two different ways in that many pages. The mistake is obvious so I didn't link to the fan translation.

The second mistake is in chapter 28 when Koyuki tells Konatsu to look outside, but the Viz translator has it switched around (see below). The Dynasty link was meant for comparison with this one. Somehow I forgot to post the Viz page, so it became confusing. Thank you for pointing that out.

There's no excuse for Tsukishi. The way she is acting, Honoka might as well think Tsukishi is disgusted by the kiss.

Mangadex never host original language version in the first place because it would be straight up pirating and not just in the grey area of translation.

I don't think this series is supposed to be long anyway. All of the previous adaptations of Yuri Literary award winners are either oneshots or one volume manga.

Hmm, whatever happened to that series? I vaguely remember reading the last chapter where the protagonist leaves her school and friends behind, but haven't heard anything about a continuation since.

Series was complete ages ago, just no translation for the second part.
