Aya x Sei will be dead in the water!

A spicy take for a spicy manga.

Or to put it simply in Flowerchild Ueda's words (yes she really said it on her twitter page): "There is no such thing as a detached relationship!"

And I'm pretty sure there won't be a detached relationship left at the end. It didn't last with Yoru, it didn't last with Sakai and it won't persist as such with Aya. In light of all the content available on DR, my money's on a proper, "attached" relationship as the resolution, though the Isekai-Express variant (only for Sei) and a hard cutoff aren't out of the question as well. Continuing the former status quo in the form of a "detached relationship" seems the least likely ending to me.

or simply try: Aya x Haruki & Sei x Mochida

Edit: After yet another timeskip...

if there were like 1 or 2 volumes maybe but there is literally 1 or 2 chapters left. That's way too damn short of time to reverse the dynamics and the ships like that.

In case you haven't noticed Aya already knows that her relationship with Sei can only end one way that is the reason why she is actually testing Haruki thinking she is the same (the many similarities she shares with Kurosaki are not a coincidence). So once Haruki tells her part in all of this and then hands her her smartphone and walks away she basically proves that she wanted her as girlfriend not a fuckbuddy and has the capacity for growth, moving on instead of being stuck in the past and being a coward unlike Sei whom she gave the chance to be the better person! The last chapter will be Aya reuniting with Haruki after a timeskip. Likewise with Sei... Mochida (despite flaws and her own hipocrisy) is still correct unlike Hosono (so Mochi will ditch him) which is the reason why she hopefully decides to end things with Aya for good if she doesn't she never learned a thing and unlike Yoru deserves what she gets!

believe it or not the author pulled something similar in Hungry for You: Endou Yasuko stalks the Night! I own both volume's!

Probably just leave that here. Ithink we clearly don't read the manga. I don't even know how you come to that conclusion after that chapter.

Chapter 4: Aya: The moment she called me by a different name... It was then that I agreed to be the replacement, and I immidiately strated to regret it.

Yeah... that's no foreshadowing.

Seriously just read why friends with benefits is a bad Idea in the first place.

You talk about something happening in chapter 4, this is chapter 18. The characters have changed since then. Last chapter as made clear that Aya want to help Sei get over her past love, so they can have a better relationship. I don't even begin to see what lenght Haruki will had to go to conquer Aya, if Aya want a normal relation with Haruki in the first place because given last chapter, her relation with Haruki would be as bad as her one with Sei.
And even if FwB is a bad idea, who care ? That's their relation.

Aya definitely has not changed for the better she is forcing herself into a situation that will leave her heartbroken just like it did in the very first chapter when she decided to grab Sei's left hand first. As for Haruki all the stuff she preached in beginning? She decides to practice it in the end! Unlike Aya who not unlike Sei is basically trying to win no matter the cost to her sanity because she simply cannot accept loss that all her "efforts" were all for nothing from the start! Haruki's character arc is accepting loss and walking away this is how she will save her idiot friend! In case you haven't noticed contrary to what Aya and Sei want to believe and project onto her she says screw it to FwB!

As for the Friends with Benefits thing Yoru suggested this to Sei who jumped at the chance thinking she could make it work and have Yoru fall for her and of course it did not happen. As for Aya? Remember her speech on the roof in ch3 when she talked about skipping formalities and not being normal indirectly blaming Haruki for never dealing with her own problems? Yup she thinks naivley the FwB stuff will work out too just like the goddamn love stories from her novels! She cannot fix Sei!

Edit: Hate to say it but failure is the only option for this relationship! Even "attached" this relationship has no future! Wrong is still Wrong even if Mochida is a flawed hypocrite herself she has point!

This comment section is making me understand the manga less, and I'm the translator. Good job.

Friends with benefits especially the one depicted in this manga is a really bad idea?

Aya x Sei will be dead in the water!

Eh ? Even if i'm not the biggest fan of this manga, i don't really see how you could end this on anything else than that. I mean hell, Aya just travel without thinking to see Sei. And i don't really see Sei having a change of heart so late in the manga an so nearof the end.

Sorry but I was always under the impression (kidding her works benefit from multiple rereadings) that this is what Flowerchild Ueda was going for even in Eve's Medicine. Just read this: https://attracttheone.com/dating-advice/friends-with-benefits/

Yeah it's funny how everyone has issues but we have people trying to demonize the main characters only, when there's the fact that Sei was being harassed by her own students just for existing and then by this girl for "stealing" his love and basically trying to get her fired...but nope, it's Sei who is troubling this girl.
And Aya finally found someone to have a real talk and do her own things but Haruki wasnt going to allow any of that!

So in short, is not the main characters that have to fuck off, is everyone else who is forcefully trying to get in between for ulterior motives and then freaked out when things didn't go their way.

Haha, was literally typing exactly this and then thought 'fuck it, will just say everyone is toxic'. But yeah Mochida is trying to ruin someone's career over jealousy and Haruki invades Aya's privacy multiple times purely because she started talking to someone Haruki doesn't know.

Aya from chapter 17 which also confirms there was a timeskip in chapter 14 with her changing the wardrobe: "Is she really thinking I'd never catch her in the act? Or maybe she's doing it because she knows I can see her and she gets off on that. Okay. Let's do this your way. I have to move fast. Seeing her do this all the time makes me sick to my stomach."

Umm yeah looks like Aya invades Haruki's privacy with no question's asked too and then frames Haruki as the one responsible for Aya's own actions! What the hell? The curtains in Haruki's room are not that seethrough heavily implying that this is not the first time she jumped over the balcony and watched her doing it up close multiple times! So yeah Haruki is correct all this shit happens because her own existence is to blame for Aya's problems the subtext heavily implying that Haruki has been Aya's REAL FAMILY IN PLACE OF HER ACTUAL PARENTS makes it even worse! Kinda funny though where Haruki find's her in chapter 12! It's the exact same place we see her in chapter 11 a place Aya knows Haruki knows! In short she's been waiting for her so she could kick her down because things weren't going Aya's way! The best part is that she thinks she dominates Haruki when Haruki could've easily sold her out with what she had but choose not to unlike Sei!

As for Sei well let's look at the flashback she destroyed all of Yoru's relationships simply because she was rejected by her making sure that she learned to late that being in relationship with husbands who are cheating on her wives isn't not a good thing in the long by turning into a shitty spouse herself effectively making sure that she never got a chance to properly grow up and effectively the reason why there is no Sei x Yoru for the rest of their lives. And even after Sei destroyed Yoru's whole damn life so that others wouldn't bat an eye if she killed her right then and there Yoru still choose not to demonize her or being bothered by Sei being a lesbian!

Oh yeah and let's not forget that Sei jumped at the offer of being "friends with benefits" hoping she could reprogramm Yoru! Instead of asking her a thing or two about dating a girl instead...

Edit: Did she really learn a thing or two from her experiences? As her interactions with Mochida (who despite her flaws and hypocrisy still has a point!), Haruki and Aya clearly show she never learned a goddamn thing! So I'm not gonna be surprised where the ending of this manga is actually going!

Tl;dr summarize your point please

Aya x Sei will be dead in the water! If Ueda didn't troll us with all the foreshadowing stuff (ya know those separate extra pages that still haven't been translated among other things) this is the only way I could see it! Not unlike how many toxic "friends with benefits" stituations realistically turn out.

Or to put it simply in Flowerchild Ueda's words (yes she really said it on her twitter page): "There is no such thing as a detached relationship!"

And yes she experimented with some of this stuff in Eve's Medicine!

looks like I just needed a break from the sudden Yoru bullshittery.

Should maybe also calm down on the Haruki's hate, i feel like you take it too seriously. Haruki is just a teenager with raging hormons. Being a teenager is already bond to have illogicals behaviors but it's even worse when you combine with the horny.

Don't know Aya get pass on that one for you when she does the same thing as Haruki have done aka checking the phone, not do mention the humiliation she has done to Haruki.

I do feel like some should really stop to compare behaviors of characters to another because they're all the same. Yeah Haruki might have done some shits but so does Aya, Mochida and Sei.

Seriously why does nobody read a little bit better into this chapter? It showcases that why Aya & Haruki's relationship turned into what we see right now! Aya uncounciosly hated the fact that Haruki was together with other women (those two girls) which is one of the reasons she put on clothes that she knew Haruki likes in chapter 4 (look at the picture on Haruki's smartphone in the same chapter the girl in it has a similar pullover) and now with Mochida instead of going with her as she promised yet she was the one who ran away from Haruki and she still wants Haruki to go after by telling her what she is going to be for Sei! As for Haruki after reading this chapter read chapter 8 again it shows when her thoughts formed "Aya no longer wants me in her life and there is nothing I can do!" in this chapter Mochida received a pat on her head and realized she just wanted attention not love from her male teacher! Who received a pat on her head from Aya after she made the entrance exams for her school they are in now and came to her own conclusion? That's right Haruki!

Guys being a teen can be hard because you don't understand the difference between lust and love very cleary going through puberty can be a shitty thing! The fact that Haruki stops herself again also shows that she is not as lust driven as everyone thinks she is!

I hate the fact that everybody calls Haruki twisted on liking her pathetic face at the end of chapter 8 YET TOTALLY IGNORES THAT SHE MAKES THE EXACT SAME PATHETIC FACE AS WELL IN THE SAME PAGE NO LESS!

Sei X Mochida is something that I saw coming a longtime ago the creator even left you multiple hints! Mochida guessed correctly that Sei wouldn't want a longterm relationship with Aya which sparked Sei's interest in Mochida!

EDIT: Why did Sei grow an interest in Mochida? Well because she realized that Mochida is the same as her and not really interested in the male teach!

Look at those bonus pages that are released seperatly from the manga those for Vol. 2 (you have to buy the same volume many times just for the different pages)! There is one where Kindergarten Aya asks Mocchi what she would think about being Kindergarten Sei's favourite child and kid Mocchi immediately turns red and fantasises about it! Then there is two pages of Kindergarten Sei watching Aya & Haruki having a fight and both times she imagines them having sex together yes you read correct Sei is a Aya x Haruki shipper! Then there are those colored pages where Sei imagines what her life would be like if Aya was a student of hers! At first I thought that it was a potential Sakai foreshadowing then came chapter 13 which revelead that Mochida would have been in the same school as Aya and Haruki and because she in her perspective made a bad decission but instead of accepting that she made a mistake she vented it out on Aya & Haruki YES MOCHIDA SAW THE NAKED PICTURE OF AYA AND MANIPULATED HARUKI!

At this point I hope Haruki talks with her parents tells them that she is a lesbian. After this she calls Sei and tells her she Aya and Mochida should meet in front of Sei's school and reveals that she recorded Sei's confession at the cafe! (you know that bag she was holding hope it had a microphone) Then she explains herself properly to Aya hands her her smartphone (in front of Sei and Mochida) then walks out of her life!

Is the manga ending soon? I was afraid that maybe the author lost interest or is going through something with all the delays.... I hope we get a flushed conclusion and the ending won’t be rushed if that’s the case though!

umm who said that I read nothing of this on Flowerchild's twitter so far:

https://twitter.com/flowerchildueda

URGENT TRANSLATOR REQUEST:

can somebody translate the many bonus pages that are released seperatly with each tankobon so you don't find them with the same one:

https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/75722229 the two colored picture's of aya and sei and the two of aya and haruki

so far only the picture with the forehead was translated

https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/80094205 all the pages haven't been translated so far the two colored short stories were Sei fantasises Aya is at her school the kindergarten pages two where Kindergarten Sei fantasizes about Aya & Haruki as she watches their kid versions fight and the one where Aya ask Mochida what she thinks about being Sei's favourite kid and Mochida blushing and fantasizing about as a result (yup came out before this chapter)

https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/85065758 only the one bonus page where they both go shoping has been translated so far the kindergarten page and the other bonus page where they watch fashion clothing or something has not been translated

Thank You in Advance!

Wow so Ive read all 16 chapter twice, looking forward to more. Ive noticed after reading these posts that many people dont like Haruki (For good reason). However, what surprises me is that she didnt take advantage of Aya when she had the chance.
Bare with me. But her character seems to be jealous and selfish when it comes to keeping Aya for herself. An she wants to grab and learn how to do things with Aya. Thats been made clear in a few chapters. How she gets bothered from the nude pic, how she tries to start kissing Aya neck but Aya stops her, you think that would be it. But no she goes again? This time full nude, and confession. What shocked me, is that Aya didnt stop her. Haruki asked her to get naked and she just accepted it.

At first i thought, ok so you just hug there naked, wouldnt that just hurt you more and why did Aya allow that? She would let her keep kissing her neck an messing with her clothes but was just ok to fully strip? Makes no sense.

But then I read it a second time. An it hits me different, at this point in time Aya is more invested with Sei’s Yoru problem. She starts to feel bad for her needing a replacement, and though she starts to begin hating the replacement, a part of her also felt like her sleeping with her helps Sei or relieves some of her pain.

So now, she has this help her type attitude, now Her friend comes to her like this, clearly in pain, an so what does she do, she plays along to make her feel better.

Which now makes me think, if Haruki asks Aya to help her with her pain, by letting her make love to her. Would Aya say yes?
Thats my question for you guys, what do you guys think?

One part me is like, “nah shes way too into Sei”.
But the other part is like: “but she did that for Sei, she was a body to replace her actual love for Yoru”
In this case she would be helping her childhood best friend be with person she loves even if she herself loves Sei.

Idk if i make sense, just would like to get your guys thoughts.
Side Note:
It Kinda reminds me of Sanae and Hanabi.

What I wish would be discussed is the family backgrounds of the main characters (all four of 'em) and Yoru's as well if we go by the logic that she slept with married men because she was propably conceived this way. But thanks to Sei who began to destroy her relationships and trying to control her (propably in a similar way Sei's parents did with her and the real reason why Sei latched onto Yoru) as soon as she was "rejected" she never realized and learned for "herself" that following such a path is not a happy one and she became the thing she used to date an unfaithful spouse!

Likewise with Sei since she was so desperate to escape her apparently controlling abusive parents grasp (who still don't know she is a lesbian) she never took proper healthier steps and jumped straight into a convenient relationship with Yoru and became an addict believing that she was in love when in truth she propably wasn't.

Aya's parents barely see nor interact that much with her so she believe's she shouldn't be loved and thinks that her only family her childhood friend should stay away from her and find someone else. Notice that she chooses to ignore all the signs telling her she is not really in love with Sei she doesn't know this because this is her first relationship and she doesn't love herself she hates herself.

There is a very good reason Haruki makes the decision not to take advantage of her and this is her family they give her breathing room and the chance to be herself and form her own identity. Sometime's the best form of love is letting someone go and be themselves! She even says: I "think" I have fallen in love with you!

Before you start typing back reread the manga Mochida takes advantage of her vulnerable state (her impulsive decision eats her, she and Aya recently had a fight, she struggles to accept her homosexuality and recently awakened lust heck sei had to point out that Haruki likes Aya before she decided to project her younger self onto her) both in chapter 8 right after Haruki receives the photo (read Haruki's dialogue during her second fight with Aya there is no way Mochida knows this and we don't read what she tells Haruki but look where her eyes wander before she shows her a picture of Sei) in chapter 13 (which shows Mochida's hate of red ribbon's) we don't hear what she and the rumor girl really talked about and she manipulates Haruki as soon Aya abandon's her conveniently leaving Sakai's name out.

Notice that in chapter 8 and 12 Aya's inner dialouge during the scenes with Haruki is left out what I also find odd is that a certain picture from chapter 8 is in the Yurihime release but not in the official manga release you can find it here: https://mangakakalot.com/chapter/ih921167/chapter_8 it's the picture announcing Vol. 1 is on sale with both Haruki and Aya touching each others faces.

One last thing looking back on chapter 12 with the last picture of the hugging I believe that Aya choose to steal Haruki's first kiss and Haruki doesn't know this!

These kindergarten-version snippets are so fluffy and adorable! Especially Aya-chan, she's such a good and serious child! (You can tell she won't change all that much after growing up!)

The scenes of Flowerchild Ueda coming up with the storyline in "novel" form (and then coughing blood at the idea of having to draw such smut) made me laugh a lot, haha.

Which makes it all the more sadder in what kind of hellhole she is trapped now and doomed to become a vile toxic loser (yup that's toxic abuse Haruki receives) just like Sei who is still unrepentant...T.T

Oh yeah especially the part with the unrequitted love... since my "love" was not answered I started to destroy all her relationships (nope not just the one's with unfaithful men but her view friends as well so I could be viewed as a tragic heroine) behind her back before, during our "convenient relationship" (thank god I didn't at least try something normal when I had the chance to choose) and right after it ended! And now I do the same thing with Aya reliving my past and present myself as the right one (destroying her life, her relationship with Haruki, projecting "Yoru" onto her (forceful kiss & footlicking) lying about "Sakai" the fact that I used Yoru and other "Yoru's" to escape my own reality and environment (strict evil teacher parents) and since she also doesn't wanna love herself doesn't wann ask Yoru questions or look real good inside my past it looks like I'm going to win!

edit: And Aya's mom is a f***ing a****le!

How strange. My impression was that this relationship was of the more distant variety. Detached, if you will...

Well "no friend" hasn't detached (let go) from Aya yet so...

edit: she cannot let go of the identity she created on her App account!

Is Haruki really a hero? From what I recall, she helps isolate Aya from other people, ensuring that she can't make any friends. Despite that, she doesn't actually hang out with Aya during classes or lunch, instead preferring to hang out with her 2 groupies.

"She offers her a table right in the first chapter but Aya declines multiple times by the way! She calls Aya out on isolating herself and skipping formalities it's Aya who claims that people drift apart from her when in truth she is the one who doesn't wanna grow up she is the one who is using Haruki who has been taking care of her instead of her family and since she doesn't live up to her expectations anymore and Aya doesn't wanna do anything for herself or talk about some serious problems than live in lies and her stupid romance novels she decides to kick her out of her life! Sei sexual assault is the breaking point!"

She seems to be a genuinely negative force in Aya's life, and even her current activity that's sort of noble (breaking up Aya and Sei) is being done for the wrong reason (jealousy).

"Aya is her very own problem she sticks to a person that doesn't exist and treats her like trash saying she "loves" her when nothing could be further from the truth ironically getting a similar harsh treatment to how she ignores Haruki and now pretends she doesn't exist! Haruki goes through puberty and doesn't realize at first that she is a homosexual and wrestles between love and lust! Which leaves her suceptible to manipulation by both Sei (blackmail material) and Mochida (feeding her half-truths)! She makes mistakes and has to abandon her Savior persona or Aya is screwed!"

Despite all this, Haruki is probably the least flawed/bad person in this manga. But that's an incredibly low bar.

Edit: You appear to be 'headcanoning' a lot of things. Sei is not some master planner. She's running purely off emotions, using Aya for release. Her not-so-subtle brag to Haruki (the picture she sent) and letting Mochida listen in to their conversation seems to have been done purely for a (probably sexual) thrill. Aya is mad because Sei cheated on her with Yoru. She knew it was a possibility, but she's still really upset that it actually happened (Aya in Ch16: "I know, but..." in response to Sei's excuse).

"What do you mean headcannon? She is a manipulator and a skilled liar she destroyed Yoru's life behind her back making sure she stayed miserable! She still manipulated Aya and isolated her behind her back as well from Haruki so she could easier control her (oh those cute cups^^) while living out her past. Notice that with both Haruki and Mochida "Our own rules" are mentioned which in reality are Sei's rules. Aya is still unable to leave her victim image of her and sum up the courage to leave her because Sei still withholds facts from her!"

It's not more complicated than that.

As for whether Aya is in love with Sei or it's just some combination of lust and jealousy, it appears to be the former based on the amount of non-sexual activities she partakes in with Sei (cooking for her and nursing her back to health twice). But I don't think there's enough information to say for sure either way. You can't just pull a background detail like book-reading out of the story and headcanon an explanation that has Aya at the center of some kind of psychological complex where she can't distinguish fantasy vs reality.

"The manga description mentions "ulterior motives" she hopes to gain something out of this relationship hoping all her hard work will eventually pay off but the only lesson that gets repeatedly hammered down her head is that she has no other choice but to leave. In chapter 2 she compares herself to the protagonists of her romance novels in chapter 4 she even says she wishes to escape reality together with Sei instead of going back to her boring reality."

I'm not trying to excuse Sei, either. An adult who sleeps with a minor is still in the wrong even if the minor is in love with them. I'm not saying love would make it right.

Everyone in this manga is heavily flawed, and that's what I like about it. Even the ones that aren't flawed in a large number of ways (like Mochida) end up taking horrific actions (well, if she goes through with outing Sei, that's one of the most horrible things you could do to somebody).

Well I'm glad Haruki is going to meet Sakai soon who will teach her to let go and realizing Mochida is manipulating her since chapter 8 and witholding facts. I honestly want her to derail any attempts of Aya sleeping with her using her to improve her relationship with Sei any further and even when Aya should be succesful after she came clean still cut ties with her and remove herself!

Is Sakai arc not closed yet? Because like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if that whole thing turns out to be something else. The author portrays characters a certain way and then gives them backstories that help explain and some times excuse their actions.

Sei has no other choice but to quit this relationship she projected Yoru onto Aya since the beginning (footlicking/forceful kiss in the first chapter) and withholds crucial facts like what she did to Haruki (!male name! stand in for Yoru's men and her younger self) and she still play's victim.

I mean, it isn't just Sei withholding facts. Haruki never told Aya how she found out about Sei and that she went to confront Sei in the first place. She also never told Aya she has a naked photo of her, courtesy of Sei of course, but a good friend would be honest about all these things.

And Aya must take a page from what Sakai and Haruki did and leave! That is how she makes Sei happy! And will realize whom she really loves! She also is not in love with Sei!

I don't think it's just lust though. Because if Aya was just a hormonal teen then she probably would have slept with Haruki, instead I think she was thinking about Sei that night.

Well they still did not meet Sakai! And while Mochida is withholding facts so she can manipulate Haruki again we still don't know what convinient Excuse Sei had to abuse younger Students. Sei's actions can no longer be excused right at the start of this Manga she still refuses to take proper responsibility and instead talks about how horrible she is instead of changing herself heck Yoru at the end of this chapter grows wiser and chooses to help Aya in her own way before leaving.

Haruki's main arc is that she must stop being a hero turn from a good friend whom Aya uses and abuses instead of thinking for herself thus thinking she is nothing behind Haruki's back and turn into a real friend and real lover who tells the MC that she must brush her own damn teeth instead of having Sei or anyone else do that for her! Have you ever noticed the books in the background during her scenes with Aya? She has to face her fears and accept loss!

The manga description mentions ulterior motives on both sides so forget Sei x Aya! She is still a low self esteem teen who suffers from parental neglect and doesn't understand that what happens to her is abuse so lust still applies via romance novel logic! She herself even says she has no choice there is only one person she can love which is of course BS! So yeah that night she forced herself to think of Sei as the one until Haruki snapped her out of it and choose to go the other route and her inner dialogue is absent so for now we have no idea she cuddles with Haruki in the same way she did with Sei in chapter 4 while talking about escaping reality. How does that link her to Sei? Well have you noticed how she talks of our onw rules to Aya (fully knowing Mochida is listening and not telling Aya?) and says the same to Haruki? Everything has to go according to her convinient script if it doesn't she has to destroy people and their lives! Well since things don't go so well for Aya like they do in her novels her rage builds up and consumes her! Haruki has to leave her.

I think if Aya didn't show up, Yoru might've begun to pursue something with Sei. As disturbed Yoru is by Sei's obsession with her, I do think she takes comfort in knowing there's always someone who wants her (that in at least one person's eyes she is their number 1) because all the guys she falls in love with always end up cheating on her.

I think it was very common for Yoru to go running to Sei as a rebound in the past so it's what she's doing here. There's a reason why Sei hasn't been able to let go all these years...I think on some level Sei knows that Yoru still cares for her (or that Yoru is also unhealthily dependant on her as well) so she keeps holding onto the hope that Yoru will come back to her.

Edit: ok yeah rereading the last 2 chapters that is basically what is being implied. Yoru straight up asks Sei what Sei would do if she were to break up with her husband (implying she might be interested in a relationship) and the scene before they graduate with Sei saying she'll always be waiting for Yoru no matter what so Yoru knows she'll always have someone to fall back on when she's hurt.

But if the series is ending soon and Yoru really won't be showing up again, by not giving Aya her contact info, she's finally breaking them out of this toxic cycle (that Sei straight up ranted about in the previous chapter)

It does seem like Yoru recognizes that she and Sei will not be truly happy together because Sei doesn’t really love her. She represents an idea for Sei and Sei feels she will only be happy if she’s with Yoru, unable to comprehend there are other options so she conditioned herself to be perpetually miserable all these years as a way to assure that happiness can only be attained with Yoru.

Yoru might not be in love with Sei but I’m
reading it as though she does care about her to some degree so she’s letting her go completely when she finds out that someone out there might be able to actually take care of Sei in the way she never will be able to.

I wouldn’t be surprised if in the end, we find out Yoru divorced her husband and just chose to be alone as a way to fully bring her arc to a full circle.

Sei has a lot to atone for, not only for Aya and Sakai, but for her self. She needs to completely heal and delete her conditioning but the fact that she’s apologized to Aya and not mock her feelings means there’s some hope.

The problem is Aya now... who believes she’ll never be able to compete with Yoru. She might just use Sei’s unhealthy coping mechanism and start sleeping with Haruki.

That flashback strongly reminded me of a quote from Carmilla:

"You must come with me, loving me, to death; or else hate me, and still come with me, and hating me through death and after. There is no such word as indifference in my apathetic nature."

Well the author did Endou Yasuko stalks the night which dealt with you guessed it vampires! Endou is Aya and Sei is her Sire! And Haruki is emergency rations!^^

Aya is a lost cause in more ways than one. It's kind of sad when people let themselves be used and victimized. I pray to the yuri gods that Aya and Sei don't end up together. And for that matter, I hope Haruki can nope herself far away from that mess too before she gets involved anymore and gets corrupted by that nightmare any more than she already has been.

Haruki is Anti-Sei she must realize that in order to save Aya she must accept that they can no longer be together and this is why she must visit Sakai and talk to her. She must come clean tell Aya about her involvement give her the evidence and then let go and walk away only then will Aya realize what Yoru meant with "make Sei happy" she can't the only way she can do so is by leaving instead of playing the savior for tragic romance novel victim Sei.

This manga is a take on toxic relationships and sadly people can stay to long in them once Aya realizes that her only friend & family is gone and she can no longer safely detach herself from Haruki her ulterior motives will fade away and she might realize what love really is.

And I pray for Sei x Mochida!^^

This is such a dead end, the characters don’t show any change in their behavior. I don’t think the “Yoru arc” is over because everything was about Sei’s obsession with her from the very first chapter, and while she was around Sei had no improvement, I think she even got worse. Where is the author going to go with this mess? Aya is stuck with a potential Sei (tomboy girl), and the real Sei who is not interested in her. If this ends full circle with Aya being Yoru in the future (always falling for people who don’t care about her at all) and tomboy girl being Sei (obsessed and resentful), just ugh.

That is why Aya must become Anti-Yoru (she even says multiple times her obsession is hopeless and empty) and why Haruki must become Anti-Sei (just like Sei she has a picture that she no longer needs anymore since she has her answers so Aya must have it). Both Aya and Haruki had shared interests in the past notice how many times you find books next to them?

Sei has a potential happy ending however Mochida is very much in for a big surprise when she confesses to Hosono. He is interested in Sei because of the rumors not because he wants her as a girlfriend but a friend. My guess is he is the same as she!

You see, this is how you live up to your title, some authors (tMnR) could learn from that. Pretty satisfied with the direction this is going so far, I absolutely hate Sei and Yoru, (the tomboy girl too, can't remember her name), empathize to an extent with Aya-chan, looks like Yoru's arc is done, let's see how author is gonna untangle the tomboy arc now.

Simple! "How the tomboy becomes Anti-Sei and inspires Aya to save herself!"
