@SushiKnight: I think it's the Nissa x Chandra that's the controversy since I read they try to un-make the paring in a book to make room for one of them to be straight-passing in a new show (don't quote me on any of this, it's all second hand info) after having them declare their love for each other previously.

Either LGBT women specifically funneled into Black Eagle (Female lord, biggest amount of available wlw) or it's a result of women generally being waaaaaaaaaaaaay more likely to romance the Lord of their house than men no matter who that Lord is, perhaps for story reasons. It's possible that this increased likelihood of dating the Lord extend even to straight women choosing Black Eagle. Most likely a combination of both factor though.

Funny thing is when I saw that I thought "this is definitely Fire Emblem". Except I thought it was Lucina x Robin. I was right for all the wrong reasons.

Because Jiro is the most "gay-coded" character. Because Momo and her gets flustered a few times (not in romantic way but still) and because they make for an especially good contrast. There is not much subtext in the manga, no. It's neither queer nor queer-baiting, it's just that the manga itself make it really easy to ship people. And since a lot of the strong dynamics are between characters of the same gender, people ship tons of same sex pairings.

There's not really any contradiction here. Or at least there might be if you consider yuri as a genre, but you can be a shonen and have a female/female pairing (SnK is a shonen and it has a canon female/female pairing for example).

While this is pretty shitty, I'm pretty sure she didn't mean it that way, she's just obliviously insensitive. What she meant is "careful, she might not see your relationship the same way you see it". Of course I'm only speculating, but her reaction to them as a couple seem to point to it.
