I think flashback to "Quickly, say that you love me" hints exactly that, my understanding of this chapter was the same as yours

Is it just me or did the pacing in those last two chapters kind of go all over the place

I feel like story in this one is all over the place compared to Gamma for example, it definitely does not do any justice for characters - I'm simply unable to care, there's no room for that.
Going back to Gamma again, 2 chapters about Discharge made bigger impact on me that this whole manga by far, newest chapters made things even worse.

@Serenata As for Honkai - not anymore. After Bronya x Seele "incident", almost everything was toned down. Since that time I think I never saw them addressing each other in a different way than "sister". As for "main" pair Kiana and Mei, since APHO is probably canon, we shouldn't have our hopes high.
