Ppl get trapped into abusive relationships cuz they’re too afraid to leave (either out of dependency or being threatened), they’re manipulated into staying, or they hope the person they’re dating will change/be better if they stay with them

No one stays in an abusive relationship cuz they enjoy it lol

People can enjoy things in fiction that aren't good in real life, and also separate reality and fiction lol

I agree with both of you. People do get trapped in bad ralationships out of fear, and manipulation. And people can enjoy things in fiction that are not good in real life. However why romanticize about something so toxic. When I experience a story with an abusive relationship I get mad and root for the victim to meet someone nice. I don't pop some popcorn settle in thinking wow that's hot. I get the the whole individual taste may very thing. But when I read a story like this and read the comments giving thumbs up for the ship I just think WHY???
Don't get me wrong. It's not like a " you're wrong for liking this thing". It's more of a " I'm confused how you can like this thing" . I also know that I expressed confusion badlly with that comment but what's done is done. At least it opened a dialog.

I like stories, like these. But they leave me feeling a bit uneasy. I always want to go back in time and stop them from giving in to heteronormativity.

If even half the ships,on this site were canon, anime would be a yuri paradise. (sigh) One can dream.

I agree that RiderFan's evidence is trong. But I don't think it's proof positive. My counter argument is a bit convoluted but hear me out. Herb's clan uses the magic waters to breed with animals to give their children traits of the animal of their choice. Proving that the magic waters doesn't completely transform the cursed beings. So if the herb's clan purposely chose female animals that can already have young. The curse could have just given them the ability to have children with humans.

In a later story arc, a bad guy nearly drowned Akane to death in fresh jusenkyo spring so he could turn himself into an Akane look alike to mess with Ranma.

It make sense Rumiko Takahashi said don't think about it. The lore around the jusenkyo is cunfusing and even seems contradicting. Like does Ranma look like the girl who fell into the pool to create the spring of drowned girl, or does he just like a female version of himself. Miss Takahashi just seemed to make choices about lore to fit whatever story plot she was working on at the time.

I don't doubt that. I'm just wondering if Ranma is getting the full woman experience. I would hate to find out he wasn't getting his moneys worth. lol

Honestly The hand holding didn't even phase me. I just shrugged and chalked it up to the woman being the artistic type. I once saw a news story about an artist literally plugging himself into a printer, so he could use his own blood as ink to print a life sized a self portrait. After that a photo exploration of the way couples hold hands seems pretty normal.

No no no. You're doing it all wrong. You work up the courage to invite the girl you really like, then later a misunderstanding will happen and the other girl will think you invited her. And instead of coming clean you try to take both girls without the other knowing. You'll try all night to bounce between your two dates without raising suspicion. But you'll cause a series of hilarious mishaps culminating in both girls bumping into one another, blowing the whole thing up in your face. Jeeze hasn't anybody seen a 70's sitcom, for pete sake?

I really don't understand why this has a Romance tag on it. Romances are suppose to be love stories with a happy endings. Not tails of unrequited first love that leaves you feeling sad and a bit bitter.

Threatening someone right in front of the police is always a smart move.
